Yes you should definitely check the movies out. They give you a different perspective to the story. I actually liked some aspects there more than the original, but then again the original is always better. xP

Eh the movie wasnt that good. The only thing that made me keep watching was L. He was HOT! And looked just like L in the manga and anime, it was unbelievable.
But otherwise the movie was pretty boring and the acting couldve been waaaay better. Especially the dying people. It was al too fake.
Although I can imagine itd be hard to portray a person having a heart attack.

Don't pay for them- download them somewhere. They're not horrific, and L is pretty cool, but it's nothing special.

I think Ryuuk was good to see, but... the dying people were... Like, Rabies-Note? And Light was just holding the Note out in the open, in Shubuya or wherever - where anyone could just reach out and touch it. Light wouldn't do that... neutral Drama's great and all, but not when it doesn't make sense. sad

I thought they were good. L was AMAZING [and REALLY pretty] acted just like him...well thats what hes supposed to do but he did a really good job of it.... I thought the shinigami were pretty cool.
Some things really didnt make sense. Like its been said, Raito held the note out in the open and such. And some things never..actually..happened..so I got confused. hahaha
but other than that I thought it was great and deffinantly worth a watch ^_^

I didn't really like them D: (actually, I gave up halfway on the first movie and didn't bother to watch the second). All I have to say is that it's not as good as the anime or manga.
My advice: download it off somewhere. If you like it, then buy it.

I liked the plot twist. I mean, I guess if you have 5? hours to kill then watch the movie. The changes in plot are interesting, but I wouldn't be trying to 'convert friends' to Death Note with this movie.
Whatever version I got was ripped from Japanese TV, so it was pan and scan. That means that it wasn't wide-screen. Now I like my full screen movies just fine, but this particular movie struck me as "made for TV movie" level. I was completely and horribly disappointed by the cinematography. I'm hoping to god that this was because of the pan and scan, because otherwise it was like Japanese TV.
And Japanese TV is just god-awful.
Seriously, I do not know how they get anyone watching it.
Just horrible, horrible crap 24-7.
I hate Japanese TV.

i think that coolest parts in the movie is just the fact Rem and Ryuk looked so real (but mostly in certain lighting) other than that. I didn't think it was that great, could have been better.

i saw and had the first movie for quite a while, and after about maybe the third time watching them i decided that the live action was a bit too unbelievable. There were alot of alterations too, but thats to be expected.
^ . ^ one extras of having the live-action movies is that you have a tangible character to see in motion!
