Red=similarity Black= Difference
Well first off both series use machine. The discrimination between coordinators and naturals which led to war is absolutely like coralleans and humans. The gekko state I think dropped out of the army and so did the Archangel.
The difference is that the robots for E7 need trapers and most of them need boards. The people in E7 dont even know that they are on Earth.

Okay, time to settle this once and for all. No. Alot of 'giant robot anime' have similiarities in mechanics, but the entire plots, characters and stories are different. Just because a series has 'giant robots' doesn't mean they're all alike. And no I'm not biased...I watched the entire Gundam Wing series. And liked it. Same thing I told all those EVA lovers.
1) First of all, Archetypes in E7 aren't just machines. They're biological beings born from the scub coral too, they've just been altered so humans could use them for battle. Gundam models are solely man-made.
2) As you said, LFO and KLFs use ref boards to fly or some other device to manipulate trapar. (like the Beams wingies) In Gundam, this is not nessecary nor mentioned. As far as I'm aware they run on normal fuels.
3) The corallians. How the hell does this even remotely resemble the Coodinator vs. Natural fight? The corallians are being created by the scub coral, which in itself is an alien lifeform the came to the planet a long time ago. Dewey doesn't kill them just because he hates them, nor is that the view of the public. He does it because he's a dellusioned idiot who wants more power. It is shown in the show that the public have no biased opinion about corallians until Dewey starts Project Orange.
4) So what if the Gekko dropped out of the army? You can't just see that and assume a similarity. Consider the crew. Not one person on the Gekko even remotely resembles a person on the Archeangel. A slight history resemblence at the most, but not enough for a discussion.
$0.02 given.

I third that notion!!
Now if only I could bring Kayako over here, force her to go to church with me and get her to talk to my friend who thinks E7 is a terrible show and all it is is a mimickry of mostly Eva and a little of another show.
Stupid Jeff... I bet he didn't even see all of one episode! So biased... stare

Dude, I deal with it all the time. The problem is that die-hard fans of shows like EVA and Gundam are so into their own fandoms that they think about them while watching E7. As a result...if they're thinking about EVA or something and watching anothe 'giant robot anime'....what are they gonna see? If they expect EVA, they see EVA. Trick of the mind. Ever read "Tree Girl"? Humans do this kind of thing constantly. With anime, with homework, with ghost sightings-everything.
The problem is that people watch one or two eps in this mindset, then think they can denounce the entire show. WRONG!
Okay, so say your a die-hard Rei Ayanami fan. So your thinking about Rei, and you see Eureka. You immediatly think she's like Rei. Why? NOT because she is, but because your still expecting Ayanami! Open minds are love people!
But seriously Rekka, you don't want me to talk to him. Arguments tend to get...physical, and you don't need an arrest record at 17. xd

lol, I dont know if its just that I dont have an open mind, or Im just not exploring the right places....but I have YET to see a ghost! But...sometimes....at my dads house I hear steps even though I know that nobody is there...and its clearly not the house settling, because there is a definite difference between the two creaks.
But this doesnt make sence at all because...well...it is impossible that a human spirit is trapped there because we bought the lot and had the house built! Weirdness...
Crap....now Im "inspired" to go start a thread in the chatterbox about ghost theories...wonder if I will....maybe tommorow...its 11 PM now....and Im too frigggin tired to finis--

Well, E7 may not have big huge smilarities but it does contain homages to both people such as the character names and former animes that are harder to see, such as the beams mech colors, Blue for the Charles, Red for Ray, with white mixed into both. This is in homage to another couple who fought together, robotech's/Macross' Millia and Max anyone?
I don't see it as a copying of ideas, just paying homage to a legendary anime that came before it.. especially in this case

the gekko state and the millitary arent like two waring nations like in gundam.... plus, the missle sechences are much more extravigant the weapons are totally different... the underlining plot is different the basic storyline and setting are different, but.. i can see where you migth be coming from.. all mecha is similiar in a way.. buy thats also why they make genres

I see this stuff all the time and all people are going is the mechs, I must admit when I first watch E7 for the first time I was thinking what is this aA ceep remake of Gundam (before the burning starts let me finsih) But after the first ten minutes my mind was beating myself up for thinking that. THe important stuff Are no where near the same, AKA the plot, the characters, and the general world. And the only similarty between Eureka and Rei are their hair and the fact they are both not reallyy human... (never really understood what Rei is)
you could say Burst angel is just like EVA becasue one char looks alike, really going off surfae similaryls is wrong.

ALL WARS LEAD TO CASUALTIES!!!
Name me an actual war where nobody died in mass amounts, and I'll show you a planet with no people on it. You need a reality check. Is that really your arguement? That's PATHETIC!
If your gonna go that way, than that would mean every single anime with a war of any kind in it is copying. EVA had a war too, the war against the angels. So did Elfen Lied, humans vs diclonius. Lots of people died in THOSE too! But does that make them similar? No chance! Uh, knock-knock little boy common sense is calling!
Heh, it's so cute how you think you know stuff. Thanks for making my day all the brighter by saying something so silly. biggrin
