Hrm... I just need to quit card games... they do horrible things to my confidence in my mind... Well that doesn't bother me as much as my bro's mom jumping down my throat when I'm already in a depressed mood on the matter. So my bro and I get home last night, and start deck testing for regionals. I start getting my face beat in consistantly game after game so instead of getting mad or any emotion at all I just reply to each move with a simple, lot toned "okay" or "sure" etc.... well his mom is sitting on the couch(keep in mind this is late at night when dad is sleeping so I already know to keep it down).... anyway, following one of my "okay"'s after losing yet another game, she pipes in with a long drawn out hatefull "SHHH" with a scornfull look on her face. So apparently, my depressed half a** moaning acknowledgements are too loud and will wake up everyone in the house.....

On to what's actually been getting me down. So my bro and I had picked up the WoW trading card game. Well, he has a friend of his that is apparently ranked 25 in the US *shrug* he also reads a lot of articles. (I try) We decided that I would stick with Alliance decks and he would use Horde. Now the thing about WoW is that every deck has a chance, but each deck has it's bane. blah blah, ballance yada yada. Side decks help with that.

Anyway, I always liked playing control decks in every TCG that I've played. So I went with a Warlock control deck... At the time it was mainly Hunter Rush decks winning a lot so I figured I would try something under the radar.... well Warlocks eventually starts showing up and turns out is a tier one deck... along with Hunter Rush and Shaman.... The Warlock has pretty much no variety in that the best builds are mainly control. Over the time bro couldn't decide on which deck to stick with and kept bouncing between decks and ideas for each one. Most of the time testing only against my warlock... and losing a majority of the time. Not that it made me happy I mean, it's not a good idea to test your decks only against one type of deck and getting discouraged when you can't beat it... So he starts talking to his friend and gets a decklist for a shaman deck.... He makes it and plays against me. (I was using a more aggro/control variation at the time) and he promptly beats my face in, maintaining much better hand and field advantage with no problem at all. So I decide, maybe I was better off with control. I switched and played against him today and lost in record time many times. No matter how many critters I killed and cards I discarded he just always had more critters and better card draw for less cost, while beating my face in each turn. That in itself is depressing enough but like I said "it's not a good idea to test your deck only against one deck and getting discouraged"... only problem.... the mass majority of decks in the metagame are Shaman.... meaning my chances of even doing well in the regionals are very slim and not worth the travel and waste of time that I could spend with Disturbed. To top it off, the only decks I can think to make are on the Horde side... so here I am with no thoughts on a deck... feeling inferior in mind to someone who copied a deck from someone who consistantly wins tournaments and analizes plays against everything. I just feel "Hey, I guess I'll run a shaman deck too"

It's always been like this. I finally find a deck that works for me and that I can win with against most people and he constantly changes his deck around till he slaughters me every time, while keeping a good game against every other deck. "so what" you say "Adapt and modify your deck" I've tried that, I've changed deck types and ideas. Since his deck has such a good matchup against every other deck the only way I -could- beat his would be to a**l out and make a deck completely geared to beating him while losing my matchup against every single other deck out there. I'm tired of thinking about cards. I've got nothing and it just hurts my head. It wouln't be so bad if his and my deck were more of a tossup that could go either way, but he beats my freaking face in consistantly EVERY time without a scratch. Because of it, I find myself lacking enthusasim for everything. I don't feel like playing any games, I don't feel like anything. I just wants to see my girlie.... well I probably should have eaten...... but meh. Time for work, yay!

I don't think I'm "bitching" about it. Just explaining where I'm coming from and that it's got me down, right?

Feel good in that he needed to ask for a good deck from a friend in order to beat you rather than figuring it out on his own.

You can try google to look for a nice deck.

I was thinking of finding decks. The best place I can imagine is TCGplayer.com because they have lists of all the regional winner decks. I -could- netdeck something and modify it, but almost all the top 8 decks are horde. In the latest tournament, the highest Alliance deck was Warlock at 5-8th place. It's just because the top tier decks were Shaman, Warlock, and Hunter. Out of those three Shaman is pretty much the only thing that has the utility to be able to beat the other two consistantly and have a tossup in the mirror. The way it is, my bro and I share cards, whatever he gets for alliance I use and he uses horde stuff that I get..... mainly the benefit here is that I hardly buy cards that often, just use his. Sooo, if I were to make a shaman or other horde deck of my own I would have to buy all the cards for it myself. I just, don't have the enthusiasm for card games right now. Blarg, I could run a Druid Stall completely under the radar and see how well I do...... hmmmm.

.... I think I will do that tonight..... disect my Warlock for a shitty-beef druid... *sigh* it's worth a shot.

*edit later in the night* Well I took out one card for a well needed card and tested against him... the second I started to get a good hand and win he starts whining and complaining about how horrible his draws are, that it doesn't make sense, warlock should be an auto win for him, etc. etc. blah blah. I win -one- single match and he wants another, which he promptly beats my face in and starts getting condescending, telling me, I should run the deck, not to worry about his deck because it's not a well known deck and whatever bullshit. *sigh*.... so while he's asleep, I'm eating all his gummy worms..... <.< yeah... take that you shammy b*****d. GAH! The sour... it hurts my teeth.... plan backfire.... I think my deck has a decent matchup against other decks so I might as well go to this tournament and see how well I fare. If I don't do well, at least I'll have disturbed with me to cheer me up and not care about the game so much.

I would offer help, but I'm too broke from Magic to try to play WoW.

That's one good thing about bumming from a friend who plays, hahaha, you get to use all the stuff he doesn't. Of course, once he stops buying packs and only gets singles, then I'm kind of doomed to buy the singles I need myself. I kind of wanted to get back into magic, but I will only have Wednesday and Thursday off, so FNM is out of the question, and with sets cycling out each year, I don't want to spend the money to get back into something that I'm so rusty on. *shrug* Card games are one hell of a money sink.

You can't use "fun" and "coldsnap" in the same sentence unless 'free" and "draft" are in it.

I can think of tons of fun things to do in cold snaps that don't involve the words "free" or "draft". rofl Mostly involving a lot more blankets and a lot less clothes.

Ever think of like...playing these games just for fun?

I know, crazy concept.

As much as I'd like to try that crazy concept, I really would rather be competetive. See, I spend money on video games to play something for fun. When I have to deal with other people and argue over rulings, and try to think about deck building, I'd rather it have some sort of reward. Mainly the dealing with other people.

If I had a sword i would love to, unfortunately this is Ink on pieces of cardboard, so I guess I'll just stick to gaming, being retarded, and eating pop tarts.
