Who do you think is the better singer?

Personally I go with Curtis, as his vocals are damn-near haunting (particularly in songs like "New Dawn Fades" and "Heart and Soul")

Fun fact: both are weird when it comes to dancing xd

...hmm, tough call.

I think Curtis was naturally a better singer. And there's no doubt in my mind that Curtis with Joy Division was better than Murphy with Bauhaus. However, as Peter Murhpy's career went on, he did gradually become a better singer. After years of training, he really strengthened his voice and became a very competant singer; even better than Curtis, perhaps. Listen to some of his solo work (such as the chilling song "Subway") and you'll hear what I mean.

So:

Natural, Untrained : Curtis
In their respective bands : Curtis
At the best they ever were : Murphy

Okay, maybe I'll try that song sometime... though some of his work on In the Flat Field was still fairly competent, IMO.
The only thing that irks me slightly is when he sings the lyric "into my filing cabinet hemispheres spurn" from the title song.

erm...hmmm.....not sure..i guess it's personal preferance...i love them both but since the lead singer in my band sounds more like ian curtis and i luv the way he sings i'll have to go with ian curtis razz

Relax, I have a feeling most of us aren't Joy Division facists... besides, if I didn't want free opinion, I wouldn't have made a comparison thread.

Curtis's epilepsy definitely spurred that for him... though I have no idea what brings Murphy to dance like a madman rofl

Haha, I remember seeing this one video of Cinema Strange's concert in France where he was wearing a cow mask xd
