The plot of many anime and video games is, the world is in danger from some evil force, and its up to some nobody (usually a kid) whos destiny it is to stop this great evil. So the question is, if the world was in danger, and you were given a handful of power, with the potential to gain more, could you save the world?

Sure. Power is power. Saving the world would also give me a high stature in the new world...I wouldn't be surprised if I got land up the wazoo!
Even if I died in the process, at least I died for a good cause.

I'd just get pissed off if the world was in a sorrier state than it is now, try to find out what this person is doing, and if I don't deem it a good cause, I'd pop out a six-foot long sword and obliterate them with an Ars Arcanum attack. If I like their ends, I'd fix their means.
If there was some kind of creature trying to survive, I'd help them survive without destroying the innocent population. That'd probably involve sacrificing the guilty portion of society, though... twisted
Argh, almost forgot to say that I would, once I destroyed the rising power, take over the world myself and fix it up a bit before I relinquished power to those worthy to exist.
