I was thinking about System songs - because I've had all their albums for a good while now, the newness has all worn off.
Thinking back:
When I got Toxicity, I loved it. Absolutely. Wholeheartedly. Completely. And then I got used to the songs, and it became still-excellent-but-not-mind-numbingly-so.
Then I got Steal This Album!, and I thought it was alright. Didn't really love it at first (in fact, I was semi-disappointed) but it grew on me.
Mezmerize was my favorite album when it first came out, but that was soon replaced by Hypnotize.
Then I got the self-titled album, which I considered to be decent, but not excellent.

And now that I've listened to all of the songs hundreds of times, I find that the ones that have lasted the longest are the ones from Steal This Album!. That is, I still like them more; they still feel new.

Does anyone else have this? Or is it just me? Or maybe you've got it with a different album.

Interesting topic.
To be honest I've had all of them so long that I'm almost sick of all of them!
But I agree with you that STA! seems to have kept it's appeal pretty well, but I would add Mezmerize to the list aswell.

Their old demo songs seem new to me. What I do to make songs seem newer, though, I try playing them myself, but not on the guitar, but on the piano or clarinet. XD I learn more about the structure of the notes, and I hope to transpose their music to marching band, like what they did with Toxicty. (Man, I wish my band played Toxicity. D: If only I lived in Southern California.)

But now, I'm using all my music-listening time on Serart, AGAIN. The thing I'm looking forward to now is Serj's solo project, even though he has said time and time again that it won't be another Serart.

Definately their first album!

The songs are so diverse, I just never get bored with them.

Well my order is this:
Self-Title
Steal This Album
Mezmerize
Toxicity
Hypnotize

My first album was Mezmerize, I loved it, nothing could get better!! Then I got Hypnotize, I loved it also!! Then I found someone who had the rest and I burned the rest from them. I loved them all soooo much, but that's my order, it's all VERY close though, it's not like I dislike or "hate" any. I, after a while, had to go out and buy the real things of the other three, because I listened to them sooo much.

I'd say Hypnotize. I have the most favorite songs on it than any other, closely followed by STA!.

Well yeah ... in a way I know what you mean.
Mostly because I got Steal This Album! when it first came out
but I didn't really listen to it then, either.
So, yes, it's still the "freshest" in that sense ... xD

i dont get tired of their songs...i have a really long playlist that i listen to whenever im on the computer so i listen to the whole thing and by the time it gets back to System ive missed them!
lol i also think that some people 'getting tired' of the old songs is a sign that we're ready for System to come back!! ^,^

The freshest song for me, I think, is Metro. However, it's not really part of an album.

Maybe the reason that Steal This Album! is so fresh for me is because a) I didn't listen to it very much at first, and b) the songs are so different to other SoaD, not to mention varied.

I actually loved STA! when I first got it.. it was my favourite album for a while, so I played it to death. Mezmerize is the only one of their albums that I don't actually own on CD, and now that my iPod is out of action for a while I'm sure it'll be fresh and awesome when I get it back.

i thought it was hilarious and reminded me of what i said earlier...just thought i'd share XD

I agree whole-heartedly, I love all the albums and depending I will listen to any one of them, but Steal definitely seems to have the greatest replay value, I think it is because of how eclectic the songs are, you have things like Chic n' Stu and 36 as well as Streamline and Ego Brain. So I think it is the diversity that gives it such value.
