So she's been teething the for like the past 3 and a half months and she is now finally close to having her first tooth cut. And it's making her MISERABLE. She won't cry all day. It just makes her irratable. Like, when she's tired and cranky she'll cry like 10x harder, louder, AND longer. She hasn't gotten a fever yet but she does have a horrible, nasty, SMELLY case of the runs. And with that comes a HORRIBLE diaper rash and she's allergic to diaper rash cream. So I guess what I'm asking is there any way for me to help her? I give a little bit of tylenol every now and than but it doesn't seem to be enough. She hates the teething toys and the teething ring. So what now?

I never had too much trouble when Kyra got her first 6 teeth through. They came one at a time. Then she got FOUR come through at the same time. She's not slept right for the past five months (five months ago she started getting her 7th - 12th teeth and they had cut through by two months after. I think she's teething again) Kyra never liked the teething toys either. She preferred biting her fingers and fist or, lately, us!
But what I find that works is teething gel and teething powder. I use Calgel (it's a calpol teething gel, not sure if you have that over there) and the teething powder is called Ashton and Parsons. Try looking for something like that in your local chemists. My sister swore by that stuff and so do I.
You can also try a cool damp cloth, Kyra prefers that (she sometimes helps me get the wet laundry out the washing machine to put in the dryer, and she's been chewing on it all the past couple of weeks).
As for nappy rash, try putting a bit of salt in the bath when you bathe her. I can use nappy cream but salt baths help with healing. Also try asking your doctor or Aeryns' health visitor about what creams are out there for sensitive babies. It's always worth a shot and if she isn't allergic to something new, it may help. Also let her get some fresh air to her girlly bits. I know she may have little accidents and pee over the floor a bit but fresh air is good for them when they have diaper rash.

I've yet to try this, but a friend of mine told me a "sure-fire" diaper rash cure.

Unflavored Malox on the effected area is supposed to cure it with the quickness.

Keiara's just started teething, and baby Oragel is a life saver. Teething toys don't thrill her so much, but she loves her pacifier so I put a bit arround the n****e of the baby-plug and she's a happy camper for a while... till she spits the thing out and it's covered in dust and floor-dirt of course...

heh

Aeryn hasnt been on a pacifier since she was 3 months old. She forced herself to outgrow it because one of my friends grandmother had her for a little bit and when she got cranky she put sugar on the pacifier rolleyes and I wouldnt do it. SO she'll suck on a pacy for a second. IF theres no sugar she spits it back out on floor. SO no more pacy.

With Lilith we used wiskey just for the simple fact she cut so many teeth at once.(4 upper and 4 bottom at the same time)Just take a q-tip and dip in real quick and rub it along the area. Numbs it instantly. As for the diaper rash...I put a little bit of goldbond powder on her wipe and rubbed it in real well and it took care of it. she unfortunately inherited my excema so she couldnt do the diaper rash cream either.

Im glad that they came in ok. Just have to wait until the rest of em make it through. Hopefully they wont be as bad. Lily was really cranky until her two front came in and then molars but the others she seems to be doing fine with.

I know what you mean. Now that Aeryn has 4 teeth and 3 more coming in (and shes only 10 months old!!!!) it REALLY hurts when she bites down. I always try to check her mouth and gums regularly before and after brushing her teeth to see if any new ones pop up but she just HAAAAAAAAATES people checking her mouth. I know the dentist will have a blast with her. She'll be seeing a dentist for the first time in like a week or two. How exciting.
