After being through ********, elites, lolita don't's, I believe it's up to us to put together a true tutorial for the guild. Honestly you don’t have to be the perfect size for the fashion but if you don’t dress Lolita right yet you label it Lolita, you will be made fun of. You can do so much with Lolita that it’s hard for some to know what makes the fashion all together. I could do this by myself but I thought it would be fun to have your help in creating this tutorial. We need to explain what makes Lolita shoes, stockings, socks, dresses, skirts, blouses, bonnets, headdresses, under-garments, outerwear, gloves, jewelry, makeup, and hair!
I am willing to use scans from GLB but I’d also like to use some of your pictures. Do’s & Don’t’s pictures of specific parts of clothing and accessories. I think it is time for an in-depth tutorial. You are welcome to contribute your photos and explanations; I will put it all together once we have collected everything needed. Note that I may not choose everything but everything in this thread will have a chance to be in the tutorial if enough participate. Also note that I’m a little elite myself, I’m a perfectionist so I will try my best to make this the best but I’m not a mean Lolita either. So let us show how it’s done. ^^

I'm aware and it's very helpful! We should link this more often but they lack real life photos. If we do this right, hopefully we'll be up the handbook's standards. ^^

^^ I'll do my best to help out and contribute photos and such. This is such a good idea; it'd be our very own Lolita Handbook, and a good source for new members just getting into the style.

I'm so pleased to see this biggrin it will be fun if we make it as light weight and such as possible. Make it easy to read and very visual. I'm more than happy to contribute to artwork and even research on one or two particular styles (probably punky lolita).
^^ sorry i havn't been around guys, my internet connection hates me!!

I will post some photos later (I have to take the photos first... ^^;; ), but for now I'll just list a few loli do's and dont's.
Mind you, this is mostly fashion stuff... I may list some things pretaining to manners later.
DO
-Act well mannered. Remember, Loli isn't just about how you look, but also about how you behave. Could you really picture a sweet Lolita yelling "Screw you mothaf***er"? On top of that, the proper attitude is byfar more important than wearing loli-esq clothing.
-Make sure your clothing isn't revealing. Modesty is key! Most loli shirts tend to have high necklines, but sometimes 'lolita' skirts one will come across will be very short. When wearing short skirts, they should come to the knee or a little bit above the knee. They should never fall more than a couple inches above the knee.
-Find a look which fits you as a person. For example, for somone with a sugary-sweet and child-like personality, sweet lolita may be the best look, but for a more mature and serious person the EGA look may work out better.
DON'T
-Do not ne an elitiest. A lot of people don't get the look down perfectly when they first come into loli fashion, but given time most people will either be able to get the look down correctly, or theyll realize that it isn't for them. I'm sure that in the past we've all had our loli fashion follies. Alongside that don't fault those who can't afford brand name clothing. Most of us aren't that rich, so we either have to sew, or hunt down loli-esq things at normal stores.
-Don't wear a skirt that will give people a nice look at your panties when you bend over.
-Don't wear overly casual shoes with lolita outfits. Shoes are nearly always formal, and are usually mary-janes, oxfords, rocking-horse shoes, or in some cases victorian-styled boots. Loli dosn't go well with sneakers...
-If you're wearing a gairter belt, do not let the gairter straps, or the tops of your tights, show.
-Don't try to pale out your skin using makeup. It will more often than not come out looking horrible. Also, don't overdo your makeup. Just because Mana can pull off puer white skin and blue lipstick, it dosn't mean that the rest of us can do that as well.
-Don't be afraid of only dressing loli part-time. I know that in a lot of western subcultures you will be called a 'pouser' if you only dress the part some of the time, however, I have never really come across this behaviour amongst Lolitas. I've found that it is actually very common for lolitas to only dress loli part-time.

ok lets see ive been meaning to post here for a while so here it goes DO
Have confidence. Be proud of your loli self. Ex.Always walk with your chin up and be friendly to peple you dont even know or like. NEVER look down at your shoes when walking (no matter how much you love em)
Smile as much as you can. Not ALL the time,that would be incredibly hard and freaky. Just, be polite.
Help people if they need it. I know that a lot of loli's are snobs but dont be! Be as nice as you can but NOT fake nice if you dont like someones outfit dont say "OH! i love your outfit" If someone drops their books in the hall, help pick em up. If someone needs a buck give it to them (whats a buck here or there? Also,it isnt a crime to ask for them to pay you back)
When meeting someone new dont curtsey if you dont feel comfortable doing it. It is a plus though!
When speaking use as polite,and proper grammer as you possibly can. Refrain from EVER swearing!!!
Be creative with your lolita outfits. Mix that yellow skirt with that pink top you have! Try not to go TOO overboard though ex- a billion bracelets,6 necklaces, and as much things as you can in your hair. Leave that to the Decora fashion! (which is my second fav =] )
DONT'S
Smoke.If you cant help it dont smoke in your loli outfit.Besides, who wants a lolita outfit smelling like smoke?
Be a snob. Just because you got that 300 dollar dress from baby,doesnt mean you can put others down because they cant afford stuff like that.
EVER flick someone off. No matter how angry they make you. If someone is making fun of you just say something like "You know,why cant you just lay off?" or "Ok,you know what. I dont care that you make fun of the way i dress because I'm happy and I know who I am. All in all, I feel sorry for you because your not creative enough to be your own person because now-a-days the stores just do it for you." or something, I dunno. If they REALLY make you angry just give em an evil glare or ignore em (I dunno, people can be pretty cruel now...)
I will prolly post more later because I have to take the trash out and do the dishes. This is all i could come up with at the top of my head for now though =]

LET'S PUT PRETTY LOLITA DRAWINGS IN IT I'll draw them! @ w @ *slightly high*
I'm sorry. ^^;
I didn't see what other people wrote, mostly because my eyes are positively ACHING right now @ _ @;;;;; But I'll contribute what I can, and I hope I don't restate too much. ^^;
DO:
research your style! It doesn't matter if you aren't one sort of lolita forever, but please know what goes with what you're currently trying to pull off, or you'll just look silly.
make sure your bag is coordinated with your outfit. It's not easy to find a good loli-looking bag, but...it's very important.
be as polite as you can. ^^;
please make sure you look good in, or act suitable what you're choosing to wear. I know that we do this for fun, but... it's not going to work well if you're going to act super-hyper and wear gosuloli, it'll be pretty freaky, and most likely offend other gosuloli.
DON'T:
DON'T, AT ALL, EVER, think that this is about looking like you're from hottopic. You aren't.
assume that all with lace looks loli. It takes a very discriminating eye to get good at spotting loli things, but you'll get there...and then look back at all the pretty pointless lacy things you bought.
not so related, but...buy everything that looks loli! I've seen a lot of things that LOOK like they'd be great for lolita, but the actual quality of the clothing is very low, and the lace is all very cheap/plasticy and made of cheap fabrics.
let other people intimidate you, because there's always going to be at least one person to support you, and there really ARE a lot of elitist people in the western loli culture. Don't let it get to you. ^^;
