As we all know once more, Johnny Depp's been in quite a large handful of movies-- some great, some not too shabby, and some... well, we wish we could forget about those. xD
Anyway, I was watching Big Fish the other day, and I was thinking that Johnny would've been great in it. I then started coming up with other movies that he would've been great in... and thus this thread was born. =P
So, to spice things up:
- Which movie(s) do you think Johnny Depp would've been great in/should be in and why? x3 - Which movie(s) do you think Johnny Depp wasn't too great in/did not fit his style and why? xP
One more question that may take a little more thinking:
- If you had to think of a perfect role/movie for Johnny Depp, what would it be and why? - Pretend that Johnny agreed to appear in a new movie with a character and plot not like his style at all-- what kind of character/plot would it be?

Okey dokes, I'll just start off the thread now... xP
As I mentioned abovc, I could easily see Johnny Depp playing Edward Bloom in Big Fish. It may just be the Tim Burton vibe that reminds me of some of Johnny's roles, but I can just see how Johnny would've liked to play a character like Edward, that's searching for himself in the midst of a sort of magical, twisted sort of American dream...
Kind of like Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. Um. Except a bit more (or A LOT more) reserved (and legal)... nevermind. xD
And I know this is a bit odd, but I also had a random image of Johnny playing V in V for Vendetta-- it just seemed like a beautiful role for him, even though he doesn't have the exact deep, rich voice (and accent, but he could've nailed it) like Hugo Weaving, I could still picture him playing the masked figure anyway...
I have to go babysit now, but I'll continue this later. xPP

thats a really hard question. what movie should he have been in ... i'll have to think on that. i don't think he was very good in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, infact i hated it and will never watch it again as long as i have the gene wilder version. i think he would be perfect in something like Wicked if it was made into a movie, i think he could really bring the Wizard to Life or ever Fyero. I think he would great in say if they did a movie on the rolling stones. he would totally have to play Keith Richards.

Oooh, Johnny playing Keith Richards would be amazing! =o
I really didn't like the movie Nick of Time or Don Juan DeMarco-- although Nick of Time was moderately exciting, it was such a... normal role for him. I understand that he chose it because he liked the idea of literally doing anything for your loved ones, but that just didn't cut it. xP
And even though Don Juan DeMarco's words were beautiful and poetic, it was too slow of a movie for me, and kind of sticks out of Johnny's filmography (only in my opinion, of course) like a sore thumb. Even though he did it only because he wanted to work with Brando, that just didn't cut it either. xDD
I'd love to see Johnny play some sort of musician (perhaps a guitarist) like Angel already noted. Fictional or non-fictional musician-- it just seems like a role he'd like, and a role he'd be really great at. Johnny's been in so many different types of movies that I can't really think of any other roles... perhaps a fantasy sort of movie? ^^
A role that I'd never expect Johnny to take would be a role like Brad Pitt's in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, or Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible-- they're too shallow and unoriginal for him, in my opinion. xP

I think he would do a very good job in Big Fish, but I'm glad Tim was working with a somewhat new range of actors.
Even though the DaVinci Code was a little gory for me, I'd say Johnny would be good for the movie. I didn't exactly like Tom Hanks in that movie. XS
I could NEVER see him doing Snape in Harry Potter. XD

I believe he was asked to play in Interview with a Vampire..but declined. I think he would've been great in that movie (especially w/Brad Pitt & Tom Cruise!) lol.

I knew he would be great as Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but I don't like how he ended up doing it. Oh well, I'm sure he had his reasons. sweatdrop
I honestly don't recall a time where I thought, 'They should have cast Johnny Depp instead' because if a movie I saw was good, no need, but if a movie was bad not even his awesomeness could save it.

It just occured to me that Johnny would've been really great in Brokeback Mountain.
I know it doesn't seem like his 'type' at all, but it's really, such a beautiful film, and it would've been great to add it to his list of diverse roles. <3
