For those out there who write their own stuff, what do you do for inspiration when you can't quite think of anything?
Personally, I go for a walk around the paths behind my house and listen to some Pink Floyd.
What do you do to get your creative juices flowing?

I write lyrics, and hopefully I'll learn how to write music to go with. All my lyrics have been uploaded to my Deviantart if anyones interested in readin' em' and tellin' me what they think.
My influences for writing are Pink Floyd, Rush, and well pretty much anything Prog rock or metal. xD
If I have artist block I just sit and wait for it to go away, which takes a long time. ._.

Harder for me to break ANY kind of artist block, I don't write about politics or anything like that.
I'm all fantasy and crap like that, so if I can't think of anything, I can't think of anything and I'm at peace with that.

For me, I get on the artists block every so often, and I just sit it out. Instead of writing, try just playing other peoples stuff. Listen to recordings of your favorite musicians, and imitate them. Find friends to play with and see what they want to do. Eventually you will get your rythem back to you and usually I am better after a block than I was before.

I compose and write lyrics, but I'm not in a band at the moment so it's more like a hobby...getting ready for when I am in a band...hahaha. When I want to start writing something new, I'll take out my guitar and start playing random crap on it, trying to make something good come out of all the shitty stuff I'm doing. Sometimes, I'll just start singing random lines about something, and it turns into the lyrics for a song.
When I'm really stuck, I pull out the big guns - I select some CD's of my favourite composers and bands in my 200-disc CD changer, and just listen for hours on end. Vivaldi, Beethoven, Bach, Sibelius, Wagner, and "all those dead European guys" get played right alongside Iron Maiden, Children of Bodom, Deep Purple, Metallica, Twilightning, Nightwish, etc...and all the jazz greats too, Basie, Ellington, Ella, Nat, Ray Brown, Mingus, Charlie Parker...

If your on myspace you should give us an add. We are working up getting an Indie record label to pick us up, and were also trying to get a tour going on in the next few years. We were preying for the summer, but it turned out that there were more complications with lives at home at the moment. 2 of us have jobs we cant do on tour and our lead is 15, so shes still controversial with taking on the road and taking here away from our hometown at such a young age.
