Way back when, when my guild, the GIB (or LAWLS, call it what you will) was still just a baby, I asked my agents a question: Do you believe? I pose the same question to you now. Are we alone in the universe? Or are there other planets out there, filled with myriad forms of life that are beyond our very imagination? It is my belief that there is life elsewhere in the universe. It so infinitely, mindbogglingly vast, that if we were truly alone... It would be very unlikely, not to mention depressing. I reccommend everyone to take a look at this before answering: A Tiny GlimpseIt really puts things in perspective...

I try not to answer questions without substantial proof. It's why I'm an agnostic.
Do I firmly believe there are lifeforms from other planets in the universe? Not at all. And I won't until I see proof.
Do I believe that it is extremely likely there are lifeforms from other planets in the universe? Yes.
On a related note, someone once tried to convince me that life on our planet had to be created by divine creation because the odds were stacked so impossibly high against what would be needed to create the very first cell.
I laughed. Because yes, the odds are nearly impossible to fathom; but so are the number of planets in the universe. It's like a very giant die being rolled over and over and over. Which makes the possibility of at least having one having life generated on it much, much more likely.
I find questions are more fun if you don't expect answers.

Yeah, I take the same view on the whole divine creation thing. I'm agnostic too, you know. XD But I do believe in the rules of probability. And there's too damn many superclusters with too damn many clusters with too damn many galaxies with too damn many stars with too damn many solar systems with too damn many planets for me to think that we could be the only ones at this party. xd

I'm not too sure what I believe, sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I believe there may however be life not like an alien but possibly just a mere organism of some sort which is so small and undetectable that we don't know about it. Is there a civilization...? Quite possibly. o.o;
But I love how gaia created this event ^^ I think it has been fun and wonderful for the most part and depressing at others (due to missing zurgs, all the gaians freaking out, etc etc) so it made the fact their staying very realistic and filled with emotion ^^

I definately do believe in life on other worlds. Mainly because in my opinion, it would be ignorant to believe that we are the ultimate form of life in the entire universe.
What scares me the most is this:
Say you had a gas giant. Thousands of times bigger than our planet earth. Mindboggling, I know. But picture this. Life on that planet is proportionate to it's size. Therefore... the inhabitants of the planet are thousands of times bigger than earth inhabitants.
Now... Imagine if they ever came here. O3O!!!

Do I believe in life forms on other planets? Most definately.
I don't really know how to elaborate on this...so I'll just leave it at that.

A big planet should probably have smaller creatures, or low to the ground ones, and a small planet should have giant ones, but they'd collapse under their own weight here, so no worries about giant invaders. Edit:Right, nothing to stand on, that too. sweatdrop Main topic:I don't truly believe 100% either way, but I enjoy thinking about things like this under the assumption that they did/do/could exist.

The universe is infinite, so yes there has to be life somewhere, maybe not close and intelligent, but it's out there.... hell there maybe intelligent life. It's ridiculous to think that in the ENTIRE universe, we are the only life forms to exist.........

I would say that I believe that there is a great potential for other lifeforms out there to exhist, considering that Earth exhists in a rather small cubbyhole of a galaxy in the vast layout of the universe that contains millions, persay, billions of stars, and many, many more planets.
So yes. I do believe. But not as fervently or obsessively as my SciFi-addicted grandmother. xd
I wouldn't say, however, if we'll end up visited by them one day. It's undeterminable if said lifeforms would be equally as, or more evolved than us.((for all we know, we're chatting it up about celestial slugs(or single-celled organisms, if that suits your fancy); afterall, evolution-theory permitting, we were there once too)) Or, even if they *are* sentient enough, would be willing to make that sort of trip to visit an unknown species.
It's all quite consequential; couldn't say either way.
wahmbulance RANDOMISH wahmbulance : OH, but there is one thing that annoys me about commonplace extraterrestrial hubub. Why are human-like aliens so popular? xD I seriously doubt that 'little-green-men' actually exhist. (Unless migits/littlepeople are prone to dumping paint on themselves and 'stealing this one woman's underwear'? as one report put it... That's one weird-a** way to get away with larceny. xD --oh, and not counting the Zurg. They exhist on Gaia~ <3)
I think, that if there were aliens out there, they would probably look nothing like us; we'd likely share completely different evolutional paths. That's my logic, at least. <3

Intelligence wouldn't do an animal much good if they didn't have some way to manipulate their environment. If the terrain on the planet favored four-legged animals, then intelligent life would have evolved arms from the forelegs and became bipedal, like we did.

(some of the wording in that statement confused me. xD I'll go on what I got out of it.)
Who says that hands and bipediality are the only ways to evolve and work with the environment? Tentacles could serve the same purpose as arms, if octupi were more evolved in a sentient direction.
In that same thought, an alien's environment may be nothing like ours. They might adapt to use entirely different factions of their world than we do/would.
It's all purely consequential; and in the end, I don't think it's very likely that an alien would look all that much like us. xD
