ok, so... i like alternative rock, since i'm going to choose one. (yeah i actually like everything - BUT i'm going with my top.)
i love alt rock cuz it roams the spectrum from hard head banging s**t ( see pearl jams "rearview mirror") to crazy sexy mid tempo rock ( see panic's "lying is the -"etc) to slow lovely dance with your honey rock (see bif naked's "lucky ones")... and others
emo was my 2nd.

Well, I too enjoy a wide range of music, but I will choose from what is on this list, which is alternative rock. It's like a mixture of things. Sometimes you find a band or singer that does not have the best voice, but they have awesome lyrics so you can't help but respect them as an artist. The same vice versa. I find this happening a lot in the alternative box.

i am very picky when it comes to my favorite music i like anything as long as it sounds good and is not rap/country
my favorite band at the moment is three days grace.(It changes on a regular basis) mrgreen

Yea, that happens to me, too. My favorite band right now is a Spanish band called "Oreja de Van Gough" which means Van Gough's Ear.

Alternative...
But what I find weird is that my iTunes classifies all of my music as Metal...
Anyways, I like alternative because of the broadness, and I like that. So pretty much what most people have said.
Country, rap, and oprah is okay, but I cringe while listening.

Alt. Rock! My fave bands include the Dresden Dolls, Panic!, 30STM, and last but not at all least(for they are my faves) Snow Patrol.
My second fave genre would be Acoustic rock, which is appropriate for me, because my favorite guitar is acoustic. In those artists, I'd recommend KT Tunstall, Sandi Thom, Dar Williams, and Regina Spektor.
My father always liked Classic rock, and I love it too, but a bit less than I used to when I was smaller. Now he's getting into Country musc and actually, he's with the band that opening for Little Big Town soon. I can say that I enjoy some of the craftsmanship that goes into country, but I just can't enjoy it fully. Someo fht ebest song writers are in country music- like that Dierks Bentley. But yeah, I'm not a huge fan of country.
As for rap and so-called 'dance' music which is actually making little kids start to learn how to grind at four years of age- *gags*. I'm sorry, but I can't stand it at all.

[ Alternative tops my list. I like lots of things (minus screamo that is just for the screaming, most country, and rap/hip hop), but alternative floats my tuna boat. ]
