What is life, really, but a string of emotions to mingle with new experiences, the good and the bad (or, rather, the bad).
A good argument, perhaps, is that a beating heart contains a soul unlike any other, a soul with purpose. Purpose. What is the meaning of the word? Is it a state of being? Or maybe it is merely a state of mind riddled with the devastating clues, or breadcrumbs, as it were, that all lead to the fact that life has no meaning.
So what is death, you ask? Death is the ultimate consequence of life. In addition, to gain life, you ultimately have to take it from someone else. You are probably saying to yourselves, "Well, I've never taken anyone's life!" Well, you have. Ever heard the story of Jesus? He died so that you can live. You took his life. Which is why we all must die, to pay back what we took. It's the natural cycle.

It's a....well, it's some polytheistic or Buddhist belief, can't remember...but it states that when you die, if you haven't reached the ultimate model or soemthing like that in your life--as perfect as you can get--then your soul is wiped of memories (trust me, it's nicer that way) and put into a human or animal. You live a new life, learn new lessons, become a better soul.
It was founded on the revelation that sometimes people knew things that they had never been exposed to. And it's also in my book ^^

xp It's not Buddhist, it happens to be one of my odd religious philosophies. It views life as a learning experience, each soul striving (I guess) to perfect itself, and in each life learning more. Like, maybe the person I am now is meant to teach my soul something about selflessness, or something of that sort. Sort of like the buddhist belief, in that each life (I guess) would be viewed as attempting to gain access to heaven. heart But then, I'm kinda awkward on religion.
