I´m talking about the Metal Gear Solid series on the Playstation, Playstation 2 & Playstation 3. Personally I think it´s getting crazy with the supernatural stuff, I mean MGS was cool with Psycho Mantis and the rest of Foxhound. Then we went to Sons of Liberty with Raiden, Fortune and Vamp, which was a bit off and they disturbed me. Then came Snake Eater with The Fear, The Pain, The Fury and ect.

Now we got the new one coming up and it seems normal (as normal as MGS can get)with Raiden being a ninja and Snake, Naomi and the others. And don´t forget the raptors that moo like cows. I just think that they were pushing it with the immortal vampire and the guy who can control bees. sweatdrop I still liked the main story and enjoy the gameplay and some of the character designs, but some part made me go "oh, please."

So what do you people think about MGS and its characters? Who are your favorite characters? And favorite moments?

My favorite characters are The Boss, Solid Snake and Mei Ling. Favorite moment is the end fight in MGS3 and when you call Mei Ling from the woman's bathroom in MGS. whee

In my opinion, the storyline to the Metal Gear Solid series so one of best stories out there, even rivaling today's big budget movies. The fact that they combine semi-realistic events with supernatural characters is awsome to me. I love all of MGS's different assortment of strange characters. [Liquid Snake, Revolver Ocelot/Young Ocelot, and Psycho Mantis being my favorites.] Also, unlike most people, Raiden didn't bug me. He's no Snake, but I didn't think he was that bad of a character.

I'm a MAJOR fan of the MGS series, and I'm sad to see the next one going to PS3 [even though I already knew it would.] because there's no way in hell I'm paying $600 just to play one game. I'm hoping that MGS4 comes to Xbox 360 like MGS2 did. I doubt it, but I'd really like to see that.

Well MGS4 will not be out for a while, and if you're wise you'll wait for the subsistance equivelant, and by then PS3 might be cheaper. I don't mean you in particular, when I say "you're" I mean people in general.

Anyway, I've loved 'em all so far. MGS1 was my fav in terms of story and MGS3 was my fav in terms of gameplay. (Although I beleive Metal Gear Sold 4 will blow both away in both aspects). And Vamp is coming back so don't count this one off as normal yet... And random thoughts of a Big Boss returned... Zombie?! Oh yeah and I may not like Raiden, but not for the typical reason (which would be people were expecting snake, and hate his pretty boy-ness). I just don't like him for being naive and whinney. I realize this is Kojima's commentary on the average gamer, but that doesn't mean I have to like him. Whatever the case it seems to be heading to a great climax and I won't buy PS3 for it alone, but I do beleive there are plenty of other reasons for PS3 in the future. Sony still has the the majority of support in their pocket. Since it's the only console with next gen graphics besides 360, and 360 is horribly unpopular in japan it'll probably stay that way for a while.

My favorite characters are Big Boss and Ocelot. And my favorite scene if you can call it that is either that crazy long Codec transmission from the patriots at the end of MGS2 or the Boss talking about how politics are fickle and a soldier needs nothing to beleive in. Very cool.

i didnt like raiden for many reason.
he brought rose into the picture mad
he whines alot.
he is quite idiotic.
his voice kills me
and i dont like his character design. its too average bishounen. ill give him the benefit of the doubt in the new one cause hes all cyborg ninja but i guarentee nothin.

Well, no-one can guarantee anything, so I'd imagine so. I'm gonna give everyone a chance in the new one. Even Vamp... Because it's the last one (supposedly... Where have I heard THAT before?), and everyone is getting a redesign. Their looking different is not accidental, they are all based off of someone now.

Ah Kojima, you brilliant b*****d. heart

Seriously though, this guy is high up there as one of my motivators in the buisness, I would love to meet him and ask him about his career and what not. One day, I'll be in his league. crying

But yeah, the Metal Gear Solid series is truly a masterpiece if there was any in the video game world. With a story that's deeper than you anything you could ever imagine and classic characters that will never be forgotten, my personal favorites being Psycho Mantis, The Sorrow, Big Boss and so many others. I mean anyone who has played or seen the final battle in MGS 3 has to agree, it's art in motion.

I've played and beaten MGS, MGS2, and MGS3 on the hardest difficulty. I love it in every way a man can love a video game.

Have you ever played European extreme mode in MGS2? I had trouble just beating Extreme in MGS2 and I shudder to think how much worse it could get. MGS 3 on the other hand was suprisingly easy on extreme.

Never had VR training either, but I hear it's pretty dissapointing (save for the 3 missions you get to use Grey Fox!). Substance is just the game with alot more crap. So if you like the original substance is even better. MGS2 substance has a VR training mode (like the original), "Snake Tales" where you do wierd things like duel Meryl instead of Olga, and alot of other goodies. MGS 3 subsistance (yup, spelled differently) is the super package. 4 discs in the special edition. Disc 1: Main game (with some more monkey tranq games added, and I think this disc holds MG 1 and 2) Disc 2: MG Online. 8 Player online insanity... Or was it 16 players? Either way, if I didn't have a copy of the original MGS3, I would SO buy it (I'm like the only person in NY with the HDD, and the internet adapter for PS2... For now PO is a great substitute). Disc 3: Movie mode. You can control all the cutscenes and cinematics in MGS3 as if it were a movie DVD. Disc 4: Super extras of goodness (only with the special edition one). I think it has anything from trailers to interviews. Although it may also house MG 1 and 2 I'm not sure.
