All righty, this is my favorite pairing in the whole series. I think Aunt Wu hitting on Uncle Iroh was a tad disturbing but was still cute, Zutara and Kataang can battle among themselves, put Toph, Jet, Suki, Cabbage Guy or anyone you want with anyone you want, but Sokka will inevitably end up with Yue somehow or other.
Why do I love the pairing so? Because they're so perfect for eachother. Sokka and Yue were love at first sight, unlike how Sokka and Suki had to earn eachothers' respect. Yue's feelings were so strong that she actually had an inner clonflict; Sokka's feelings were so srtong he was and still is very torn up inside about Yue. That's some real love right there. Plus, Sokka can BE protective of Yue without insulting her warrior honour like he does with Suki. Yue can handle a little babying; nay, as a princess, she was raised to be handled delicately and to need to be protected. I know that in cannon the most likely thing to happen is for Sokka to eventually get over Yue, have some personal growth, and end up with Suki on Kiyoshi Island or something, but I like Yue better. I think their personalities are more suited to eachother. Sokka and Yue are just too similar, they'd end up bickering.
But Yue's dead, right? How can I support a 'ship between someone who's alive and dead when this is so obviously not Corpse Bride? Easy: Yue's not actually dead. I see what happened to her as being comparable to Tsunami/Sasami (for those familiar with Tenchi). If you have no idea what I mean go wiki Tenchi Muyo. This thread is all about Sokka/Yue! Anyways, we last see Yue in traditional Moon Goddess garb (not sure if it's Chinese or Japanese, but I do know that's traditional Moon Goddess garb) as her life fuses back with the Moon Spirit. I truly believe that means that she was assimilated and became a part of the Moon Spirit, not that her life force was stolen and she died. In fact, since the Moon Spirit had such an affect on her from such an early age (birth and all) and probably had a very close connection it could be said the assimilation went as far back as that and this finishing bit of it wouldn't have changed Yue as a person at all.
Okay, so Yue's not dead, but she's still a fish. Yes, Yue's a fish, but now the Moon Spirit has a human form. It's just... I really don't think she can walk around as Yue and interact with mortals whenever she wants or the waterbenders can't bend (sad but true). So Yue as the Moon Spirit is stuck forever circling the Water Spirit as a fish in a pond. Well, there are a couple options. Perhaps eventually the Water Spirit will be able to seperate out Yue again and let go find Sokka. They'd still have a very close connection and be one being, in fact it'd probably be something similar to having Yue be the Moon Spirits avatar or more like "astral projection" but it could work! That or Sokka somehow becomes connected with the Water Spirit and spends the rest of eternity peacefully swimming with Yue in the mystical pond. It'd be a sweet and poetic ending to a beautiful romance. *Tears up*

It would be cute for Sokka to become the water spirit and them being together forever. But it's pretty unlikely.

Oh, I know it's unlikely. Sadly, this is more of a dream thread than a reality one. T__T But Sokka and Suki are just too similar to be a really good couple. Their personalities lend more to a brother/sister relationship! D:

A-HEM. You stole that poll idea from me! Without permission! evil (lol, I'm joking). Nice poll. mrgreen
Anywho, back on topic... I kinda miss Yue. She and Sokka made a nice couple. Oh well, these things happen. Like Guru Patik said, "Life gets messy."

I didn't like Yue. She was too much of a Mary-Sue, and I like the girls that put men in their place. x3
That's why I'm a SokkaxSuki shipper forever! >:3

Suki's cool and all, but she's just not for Sokka! Seriously! They're so much alike that Suki practically a gender switched clone of Sokka. They'd be better off with a best friend or sybling-like relationship.
But yeah... watching Yue give her life for the Moon Spirit is very noble and moving. crying At least her spirit lives on as part of the Moon Spirit.

Yue and Sokka WERE really good together and it was so cute when they first met. But she's now a fish, so life must go on and so must Sokka. And besides, Suki and Sokka arent EXACTLY alike!! I actually like Suki because she's a kick-a** warrior who's tough, and actually got Sokka to apologize when he was acting all self-absorbed.

Sokka needs someone that'll keep him in line, y'know? He's too rambunctious for Yue; He wouldn't be up for ruling over a whole nation. I think he'd be happier traveling and fighting and what not, whihc I KNOW Yue "would appreciate," but she was so... Perfect! I HATE characters that are "perfect."
She ALWAYS just has to save the day and become the beautiful herione princess girlie. See, Suki had it goin' on. She taught Sokka how to respect others, regardless of sex, which I think Yue does just the OPPOSITE for. I mean, seriously, if I myself were being forced to get married, I'd give up the throne and take Sokka by the hand, I wouldn't push him away and run off crying!
The point is that she could have easily done something else, something that would impact her and Sokka's relationship, and if she would've been a bit more impulsive, there's a chance that yeah, I MIGHT like her. But she didn't, and that's my point. She could have said "To hell with this! I love this boy and he loves me! And dammit, daddy, if you don't like it, then too bad!"
And don't even think about telling me that she had no choice to marry. She could have vocalized herself more! Even after Katara was fought, she still obeyed every one of the male based society's orders. SHE WAS A FREAKING PRINCESS. You'd think a chick would be able to at least ask for some reform.

Yeah, Yue could have done like Katara's Gran Gran and run off, but she was the responsible one and decided to stay with her father. Perhaps she felt she could help bring change to her people by staying there (though I'll admit it's unlikely.)
But moreso, if she could have stayed with Sokka longer it's possible she COULD have become a bit more willfull. He got her out of her princess shell and to be more open and responsive to the world. Who knows what she could have been like if she had spent more time with him. Plus her natural serenity (wewt, pun!) would have balanced out Sokka's impulsiveness. I still think that Suki and Sokka's persanlities are more suited to a close friendship but not a couple and always will. Plus it was so cute watching Sokka trip over himself and be such a fool around Yue, Suki never got him to do that. XD

Because Suki brings out the best in Sokka.
I never stumble around like a fool around my crush. I act cool, like Sokka did when he was around Suki. ;3

Cool is hardly what I consider Sokka around Suki. Mostly I can't help but think that his relationship with Suki shoulbe more... of a sybling or close friend-like. I mean... he met Suki and thought about her for a day or two, then forgot about her completely, especially when he got to the North Pole. I bet if anyone had said Suki while they were there he'd have said "who?" Not to mention just Ty-Lee calling him cutie has him acting a little silly and waving at her like he didn't tell Suki he loved her just a day ago. And even being in Suki's prescence doesn't banish thoughts of Yue from his mind.
So nope, argue as you like but he really just doesn't belong with Suki. In fact, if he can't be with Yue (*great buckets of tears!*) then maybe he should end up with Ty-Lee? I think they'd be a cute couple. ^^
