Hey guys so yeah i need a new guitar. I got my first guitar around march, but i was taught how to play in school and went from there. I have an accoustic fender squier, which may suck but it meets my needs. So anyway i need a good or okay electric guitar. I've been looking at squiers strats(strats on the squier webiste) and they are affiliated with fender so i thought that would be good, or and epiphone g-400. Any suggestions in the 300-400 dollar price range would be goo. (don't worry im not expecting it to be like a proffesional guitar just something i can learn tapping on and get some practice with electrics)

I think it's fair to say that squires are definately looked down on in the guitaring world.
They suck, especcially when they're in the 300-400 dollar range.
My best bet would be to go for an Ibanez, even if it isn't meant to be a professional guitar. The quality is much better and will help you so much in the long run.
I'd also head down towards a local guitar stockist and try a few of the different guitars in your price range, get a feel for them and see which you like best.
Don't rush into these things, you'll be spending alot of time with the guitar, so it'll be worth finding one that you really like, instead of just settling for the easiest option.

I think this guy has a pretty good idea where hes going with Ibanez. My first guitar was an Ibanez RG-370DX. It was a great guitar. The only thing that i dont like about it then and now is the fact that it has the floyd rose on it. Im really not into the whole floating trem system. BUT i would like to point out a brand of guitars i sell in my(its my familys store) shop in town. SCHECTER. They are such an amazing guitar for a great price. Really it seems from most musicians that come through say that Schecter is basically right below ESP. and ESP guitars are really nice. But the price you pay for the quality you get is amazing. I own a Schecter c1-Hellraiser. Its a super nice guitar. and the bonus with this is the Active EMG 81 and 84s Pickups. Not to mention it takes 7days for the guitar to leave its setup shop. if a problem is found be it on the finish or any parts of the guitar it goes back and the 7 days start over again. By the time it reaches our store and we open the box its amazing. i have never once had to tune one of thier guitars out of the box and never once had to adjust the intoneation of the guitar. Its an all around winner! i really do urge you to look into them. www.schecterguitars.com

Thanks guys, don't worry im not rushing. I've been to two guitar stores near me, and i recently went to one of them because i needed to replace a bum string. I was asking the man there(who was like the anti-fender) what i should buy and he suggested ibanez or epiphone. Idk though im kinda new to the whole guitar world, im mostly concerned about just purchasing a guitar with a nice clean sound, however i'm into bands like Green Day, Blink 182, Good Charlotte, etc. So if you have any suggestions of guitars i could purchase to get a sound like them its welcome.

well personally my love is with gibsons, but i understand that they can be brutally expensive. from what i've read, i'd say go with a cheap ibanez or the strats you were lookin at.

I'd go with Ibanez if I were you. If you don't want the tremolo then try this one. Not alot of people like this guitar for the body but that doesn't matter .... anyway it's cheap and it doesn't have a tremolo which is a good thing.

I would have to agree with this guy above me. Its not the best looking guitar in the world but its good enough for the price.
How ever i know if you really want a guitar in the esk of Green Day. I know that they put out an Epiphone model that one guy uses..names not coming to me...The Guitar guy..if that helps. Sorry im more or less into drums now and i know Tre Cool is a pretty good drummer. But if you look up online you can find the model. HOWEVER i will give you one peice of advice. NEVER...I REPEAT NEVER...buy guitars online from Musicians Friend or anything website like that. You jusy have no idea what you are getting. And let along Most mom and pop guitar stores if you buy a guitar or amp or anything from them you GET a warrenty on that item right there in the store. But if you buy from Guitar Center or anything online, you have to ship it right back to the company. So if you buy an Ibanez guitar, something tweaks on it, they will make you send it back to Ibanez. Which is and will cost you a crap load more money, then if you were to buy it local.

The best "beginner" guitar I've ever played was a Peavy T-60. I'd pay well over a thousand for it and it starts at about $250 on ebay, but they're not made anymore. They have a wide range of tones from rich and warm to super bright, and I beleive they come with a coil tap (splits the mubucker so you have a single coil not a humbucker). Oh, and 2 tone 2 volume knobs.

Any cheap rip off version of a Strat would be good. Or an Ibanez. Or a BC Rich because it has a Floyd Rose.
