Ok. Well i was at work and one of our really good regular customer had came into the store looking into buying a Custom SG with a Vintage Midnight Sunburst. Well ok things were great. I had contacted our Gibson dealer, he gave us his $3000. And we give Gibson thier money. Well being something to come out of the Gibson Custom Shop takes about 3-4 weeks if not up to 3 months. But he had his with in 3 weeks. Awesome right? Wrong. So the guitar arrives here at my store. I give the customer a call. I wait for him to arrive at the store to open the box. So i undo the package around the guitar. Behold a Gibson SG with the Vintage Midnight Sunburst. Well it looked nice. He picked up his guitar and the frets were protruding over the board and one acctually cut his fingers as he slid his finger along the side to see how the neck and frets were. OH NO. He wasnt happy! Who would be. We turned the guitar over, and low and behold the thing that really set him off was the fact where the neck meets the body was a 3 inch by 2 inch peice of unfinished bare wood. Where was the paint? Where was the finish? You wanna know the worse part of that? On top of the body of the guitar was a Certificate stating that it had gone through the custom shop and was in perfect playing condition. Now you tell me that the guitar was no in playin order. Tell me that is ther best they can do. After calling around, I began to find out this was happening everywhere and not just with me and my store. And let me tell you Gibson was speachless when i gave them a call!!!!!

IMO Gibson just doesnt have the facilities to keep up with the out put, ive heard from reliable sources that MANY of there guitars just by-pass the QC room because they dont have the recources to handle that many guitars and still be able to deliver them when they are supposed to be. They leave the store to do there basic setup. Dont believe me? go to a store with a wall of gibsons, i guaruntee everyone will have something different wrong with them, untill you find "the one" one of the few that actually has no flaws.

Its just amazing for the simple fact.. Here is Gibson. One of the biggest companys, which one hell of a rep, and they are putting out Crap Guitars. Are you aware that for instance. Schecter. I own quite a few of thier guitars. Every single one it takes 7 days to leave the setup shop. And if something is found wrong, they start the process over again. Now that is quality my friends. To make matters even more badass. After the guitars have been shipped to me at my store. The guitars are ALWAYS in tune, the intoneation is perfect, and are just perfect all around guitars.

Well that product of lazy a** employees is happening everywhere else. I have made a few calls around and thier Quality Control isnt quite what it used to be. And im alway talking to people about this and its totally wierd. But the funny thing is we have never had any problems with Epiphone. Which is nuts. But they have been just about perfect. HEre and there you will find a small problem.

And what are your thoughts on that guitar. one came into my store for repair and i didnt care for it at all. and the fact that gibson is reaching into major retail stores seems kinda sad.
