ok so, my BD has finally decided to let us do Solo and Enseble but the problem is if we're doing an ensemble we have to be with whoever he chooses.
I want to do it but I hate almost my entire brass section. I know I won't be able to get along with them. any tips????

Grin and bare whome ever he sees fit to put you with. Try to be the best you can be, and listen to the suggestions of the others in your ensamble no matter how much you don't like them.

I'm doing solo/ensamble too. but we get to choose who does it. we are going to have a brass choir and play pachabels canon ( i hope i spelt it right)

I cheat I do a solo not an ensemble but as a mallet player I get to be my own accompanist besides have you ever heard a four mallet solo the things rock.

As far an advice goes, just make sure you're group memebers are serious about it, cause that the end of the day, regardless of how you feel about each other, its about how you play together...
This the first year i'm doing solo/ensemble as a percussionist... the last 3 years i've done it as a Clarinetist.

Last year I did a trio with another cello player and a bass player, plus my Jazz Band preformed. This is district solo and ensemble, but I still got a medal! This year I will be donig a cello solo, cello duet, a bassoon duet, and playing with my jazz band.

Two years ago I went to state as a clarinetist as part of a trio, this year I'm doing a solo and a duet on tenor sax.
As far as working with the other brass players, try to reach an agreement. That way everyone gets what they want, and you get to go to S&E!
