BBC4 is having an old british sci-fi season! Including 2 arcs from Doctor Who - Spearhead from Space (Third Doctor) & The Ark in Space (Fourth Doctor), as well as documentaries and stuff too

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcfour/features/sfb.shtml

Even though I've seen both of them, I am so going to try to force my family to let me watch Ark in Space. Its so awesome!

I think I've actually got both of them on video. Oh well, plenty of other stuff on. It should be pretty good.

Oh, wow! I've seen Spearhead From Space (Dad's got it on video), but I've never seen the Ark In Space. I'll force my parents to let me watch it! Or get my room sorted so my digibox can finally come upstairs...

Is that Day of the Triffids that old 60's movie with Carole Ann Ford (a.k.a. the Doctor's granddaughter Susan), or some sort of remake? The listing says 6 episodes, so it sounds like a mini-series... confused

Sounds awesome... I've been trying to contact a primary school friend- he has this massive collection of Doctor Who (and other awesome sci-fi stuff) because... well think about it, I have ages to wait until the 3rd series comes out here and I miss the old series. Where does everyone get all their stuff from??!?

I watched some of it last night. Not seen Spearhead from Space before. I must be finally getting past my SuperTed days - I can take Jon Pertwee as the Doctor almost seriously. Mind you, I still expect him to exclaim "Great moons of Spot!"

Always did like the Brigadier though, so it's a treat to watch.

Day of the Triffids is a great book; I'll watch another episode or so of the mini-series to see what it's like. I wasn't too taken by the old movie and this series seems to have had a slow start.

Now, if they want to do Sci Fi Britannia, I vote for a rerun of "Threads". That should scare the pants off a new generation...

Despite being in the UK I'm going to miss almost all of this season! All the best stuff's on Mondays... it sucks! Why couldn't it all be on the weekend when I can find a telly?

I love the selection though... shame I missed Adam Adamant too...

Why is Star Trek included though? That's not British... confused

Probably claiming it cos Patrick Stewart (Picard in Next Gen) is a Yorkshireman. He's from Huddersfield, not too far from me.

Bit more of a Doctor Who connection here...

They're showing the remake of The Quatermass Experiment on Monday at 10pm. It stars Jason Flemyng, Mark Gatiss and some guy called David Tennant! biggrin
