IT WAS SO BRILLIANT!

At the end I was a bit let down but then the last line was just amazing, I REALLY WOULDN'T HAVE THOUGHT THAT WOULD HAPPEN!

Did anybody get that Lemony Snicket is the childrens father?
Kit asked for the child to be named after one of there parents, and there was a dign on the boat under the one that said Count Olaf, they said they didn't know if she was reading or saying her own name, but she said Beatrice, and Beatrice is at the start of each book as if she was loved by Lemony but was killed/died.

I didn't think Lemony was their father. But as I explained my opinion to a friend of mine who thought he was, the family custom was to name babies after people who have died, not necessarily in their own family.

I still don't get how you're pulling out LS is the dad. @_@ They named Kit's daughter after the Baudelaire's mother, Beatrice. The boat being named after their mother (possible that this is the very boat the Baudelaire's parents sailed off the island from). The Beatrice in the dedications is the Baudelaire's mom, not Kit's child.

And Bianca's right the custom was to name babies after somone who has died not necessarily of their own family, and the Baudelaire's mother THOUGHT LS was dead, but he really wasn't. Out of curiousity, have you read The Beatrice Letters and The Unauthorized Autobiography? It might help explain things better.

..I thought their father's name was Bertrand (sp?).

Because in several of the books the note says things concluding he love(d) her,also they made a book called Beatrice letters with a sticker on it saying it contained a clue about book the 13th (probably for people who didn't get it).

In the Unauthorized Autobiography... it hinted that Beatrice left Lemmony to go and marry Bertrand. Lemmony is not the Baudelaire's parent. He just happened to be the one who loved her and then his heart broke.

I agree and that is the right spelling for Bertrand. In the twelth book (probably the first time his name is mentioned) his name is mentioned when the Baudelaires remembered their parents' games of backgammon. "Bertrand, I have won again. Prepare to eat crow."

Do you have an exact quote where it hints he is the Baudelaires' dad?

I don't remember that, oh well, also in the book of letters from Beatrice it said that there is other people with my initials (BB) so you might not know who this is from (or something to that efect).

Lemony did love Beatrice, but she thought he was dead and married someone else. That's why she was planning on naming Violet, Lemony.

I don't see how Lemony was their father, in the Beatrice Letters Lemony talks about why Beatrice couldn't marry him... which probably means that they weren't married.

There's that one and then he's mentioned again in The End. I forget if he's mentioned by name in the journal entries of the island's SOUE but I know he's brought up I think when the villagers having their mutiny. Ah here it is on page 251. It's a curious statement, I'm not quite sure what to make of it actually. ^^;

Oh yeah, I remember that one. And in the journal entries he is mentioned as B. And I'm quite sure there was no mention of an L or Lemony except when they write that if Violet was a boy the would name him Lemony.

WTF? Lemony isn't their father. Where did you get that idea?

The father's name is Bertrand.
