I am sound in my faith... I believe that Jesus just wants us to accept him as our savior and we will be alright... and as one of the people stated in that post. If two religions are right then we're all damned anyway.

Yeah, if you believe and follow Christ you should be ok. If you want to talk about it more on a personal level, you can pm anytime.

I am w/ Lithanus on this one. Their religions steer tham away from God, which is not the right path to take. They r mislead, and they should follow God. Only then will they be saved.

I don't believe in hell. I am a Christian. There is no hell. God is loving and caring. He does not want us to suffer for all eternity. He loves us too much. heart

Yes, but haven't you read the Bible? It says in there that there is a hell. But it does not say what it is.

God is loving, but He isn't a push over that allows us to walk over Him either. There are verses in the bible that back this up.

"If you do not listen, and if you do not set your heart to honor my name," says the LORD Almighty, "I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not set your heart to honor me."
Malachi 2:2
This was said to the priests who abused what God gave them.
also read Psalm 59 and proverbs 1.

There is hell, even if its just being away from God. The new testament mentions hell a lot. Read Mathew, you'll see.

Why is there such confussion in the christian community over this? I have heard other christians state there is no hell, or we will only be there for a short period of time then get out of it. Does no one read the bible anymore? It clearly states that there will be a punishment for not following God. Even the devil will be punished once everything is over & done with. Revelation speaks on such matters very clearly.

The only problem that I have with the argument brought forth within that thread is that he is assuming that ALL religions believe in hell. But that theory is mainly a western religion theology. Most Eastern religions do not have such a place.

I'm kind of complicated in my beliefs. I believe that Jesus truly is the way, the truth and the life. However, I also believe that He does not want any of His children to suffer. I made a thread about conscious vs unconscious sin in this guild, and basically I believe that only God can tell us His intentions at the gates of heaven and we are not to be condemning anyone to hell as we will never be able to understand His plan otherwise. I just cannot comprehend that if as Christians, we are forgiven of all sin, even that which we do not realize we have committed, why a loving father would not forgive another child who neglected to follow Jesus.

exactly
living an entire lifetime without God seems like hell enough. I just have alot of trouble comprehending how a loving Father could punish someone for eternity for one mistake they made in such a short lifetime.

I certainly believe Hell exists. It's mentioned in the Bible. Just because us believers will never experience it because we believe Jesus died for us, does not mean it does not exist.

It isn't just a "mistake". Not believing in Jesus is a choice. Adam and Eve made the choice to do the one thing God told them not to do and they were punished for it. People, who do not believe, do not do the one thing that will save their eternal lives out of choice and they will be punished. It isn't God's fault. It's their fault. Jesus opened the door for them but it was their choice not to enter it. But, I have no right to condemn. God is the ultimate judge. They'll have to take it up with him when they die.

Just because someone isn't christian doesn't mean they don't believe in god. Versions of god differ from place to place, and are interpreted in a variety of ways. Essentially most (if not all) religions have a God/Goddess, eternal spirit, divinty, etc, Figure.

Just becuase you don't go to church every sunday and read the bible doesn't mean you don't follow a god.

In Christianity, there is no other god besides God, and there is no other way to get close to God except through Jesus Christ. That is the perspective we are coming from.
