Face the facts, Sephiroth is like a demi-god. If you've read the Advent Children Reunion Files you know why, but if not it essentially says that Cloud should have lost. In the files they say that Sephiroth speaks in a majestic way to show that his intellect has surpassed that of a normal human, he never blinks (don't what that has to do with it, but whatever), and his eyes are slanted. They even show it in the fight, Cloud is out of breath near the end of it. Tetsuya even says that Sephiroth was toying around with Cloud the entire time. I guess Sephiroth never thought Cloud would use Omnislash again though, but I'm guessing that Cloud could barely pull it off.
One theory that I've thought up of as to why Sephiroth loses, is because Kadaj's body is too weak to stay as Sephiroth, but it's just a theory.

Sephiroth was a cocky b*****d. Thats why he lost. He deserved to lose. He COULD have won, no doubt there, but Cloud wanted it a lot more than Sephiroth did. Cloud was actually fighting for something while Sephiroth was just toying around as you said. That is what cost Sephiroth the fight and he definately deserved it.

yeah, I think he did underestimate Cloud. I'm kinda disappointed in the Omnislash Ver. 5. You would think Cloud would have hit more, but then again, being stabbed and whatnot.

Ya, but its quality, not quantity. Being hit 6 times successively like that with 6 different swords, especially when he was amazed that the attack was going on the way it did, easily took him out.

In the film Sephiroth did ask 'Where did u get this strength from?' So obviously he was expectin a hammering! lol. But when Cloud does the omnislash on him he's pretty buggered lol.

didn't say I want Sephiroth to win, it's just in that he would've, but yeah, it's just the way the Reunion Files make it sound. The translations I've read make it seem that Cloud had no chance of winning, but whatever, he won so I was happy.

It's just as everyone has said, it's because cloud wanted to protect his friends, sephiroth had no one to protect so that is why he lost

Sephiroth has this massive sword and Cloud has a really thick sword but Sephiroth should have kicked Cloud into next week. But the good guy wins so that's why Cloud won.

I say it has something to do with his "I will not be a mere memory" comment. He was toying with cloud both cause he's cool like that, but because win or loose, he still wins. I mean come on, he didn't die after the first beating, what makes us think that a second beating is gonna finish him?
(More my personal opinion than anything.)

Jenova has been obliterated. He wont be a memory as his scars on the world and the people will live on, but aside from that, hes all done without Jenova to embody him.

I also think it was that whole Kadaj wasn't stron enough theory. Also, Loz and Yazoo are also suposed to be Sephy, so even though Sephy IS a demi-god like being, he was incomplete and probably weak from all that fighting. As for Cloud, he does have the whole human element going for him.We humans tend to get "stronger" when we are in danger or we need to protect. So yeah. Oh, and being cocky helps you not.

cloud should have lost because in real life cloud would never know those moves without him sooo therefore sephiroth won and anyway sephiroth has power beyond comparison
