We're trying to convince our band director to let us do the music of Danny Elfman but he's like 'STFU WE ONLY PLAY CLASSICAL MUSIX'

WTF
Your band director is laaaaaame
Besides, Danny Elfman stuff (at least the soundtrack stuff, not the songs) pretty much is classical
It's just not old-classical

Wouldn't classical imply that it has to be old? xD
Danny Elfman wrote the Futurama theme. And the Clockwork Orange version of Beethoven's 9th. Both of which are on my iPod. 8D

No, classical means... well, I can't define it, but I know it when I hear it
Basically, most purely instrumental pieces are classical
Unless they're jazzy or something
And operas and classical singing pieces are classical

I squeed when I saw his name in the Sleepy Hollow opening credits
I heart that movie, and I didn't know that he wrote the music 'til Saturday night when I watched it with Katy

It makes me laugh and cringe alternately
And I heart Katrina's dress at the end

Side note: Luffs the new NBC soundtrack.
Nightmare Before Christmas. Not actually NBC. Just to clarify.
Our band played James Bond this year.
