One of Scotland's most haunted locations, Glamis Castle is haunted by ghosts and littered with hidden chambers. It may even be the walking grounds of the devil himself. Lady Janet Douglas, wife of the sixth lord of Glamis, was accused of witchcraft by the Monarch James V soon after her husband's death. She was imprisoned for many years, leaving her nearly blind. She was taken from her imprisonment and burned at the stake outside Edniburgh Castle. Her spirit became known as the White Lady. She has been known to race automobiles on the castle grounds, and has been spotted praying in the chapel where she took refuge many years ago.
A lady clad in gray also roams the castle, with more than 150 eyewitness reports. Her identity is unknown, but it is possible she is the spirit of a young maiden murdered by the castle's second lord, Lord Alexander Earl Crawford, and his guards after she refused his extra-marital advances. Crawford's spirit is also said to haunt the grounds. A mysterious card game is often heard in otherwise empty rooms, where the sounds of dice and taunting emanate from thin air. A young black boy haunts the entrance to the Queen's Sitting Room.
