The long awaited day has arrived! Doctor Who has finally begun on Sci-Fi channel. Like last time, I'm going to try and make this a discussion thread for the entirety of Series 2.
The Christmas Invasion
I really liked this episode because it gave all of the Companions (I'm including Jackie and Mickey in this) a chance to help save the day. It was interesting to see how things played out with the main character out of commission for most of the episode.
Also, I really like Harriet Jones in this episode, despite her final decision to blow up the retreating vessel. The fact that she still feels the need to flash her ID was really endearing, as was the line " You can tell the President, and please use these exact words; "He's not my boss, and he's certainly not turning this into a war." " I was literally like xd .
The Doctor's rambling about "who am I?" was also very entertaining.
New Earth New Earth was also very interesting and very different from what I had expected. For some reason I was thinking that New Earth would be some sort of dystopia which the Doctor would help topple, although you could make the arguement that the hospital constituted a dystopia.
Tooth and Claw starts on page 2.
School Reunion starts on page 3
The Girl in the Fireplace also on page 3.
The Rise of the Cybermen and The Age of Steel on page 4.
The Idiot's Lantern on page 5
The Impossible Planet on page 5
The Satan Pit on page 7
Love and Monsters on page 8
Fear Her : page 9

I don't like how the first part of CI seems to have little to do with the second part. We have alien santas in the street & a killer tree, then it finally takes off with the proper storyline.
I like Rose's reactions to New Earth. If we could travel like that, wouldn't most of us be literally jumping up & down at the sheer wonder & beauty of it all with a vista like that in front of us?

I liked the Christmas Invasion better than New Earth. Seeing the Doctor fight was an unexpected treat.

I liked the Christmas Invasion; it did a pretty good job of introducing Tennant as the new Doctor. Also came up with a rationale for why Romana could bounce between several different forms without expending more than one regeneration cycle. Not sure that the robot santas and killer christmas tree added much to the story, plotwise. The Lion King speech always cracks me up.
New Earth was also good, even if the ending seemed a bit convenient. And I'm still not convinced that we've seen the last of Cassandra.

Awww I was so happy when it stared up * I ♥ Tivo!* Its quite funny how Rose cant seem to keep her hand of him even if it was Cassandra. I like how in CI his hand got cut off and then hes like Hey look a new hand!
I do wonder if Scif is going to run the whole season, the last one I think they only ran half.

I have to say I rather liked the Santa's bit, even though it was rather random. And when Mickey was looking up "pilotfish" I was really hoping for a Wikipedia reference.

I loved both of the eps, but christmas invasion was greater in my opinion. The whole time I watched it my heart was smiling. The doctor sword fighting was very reminicint of the fight between 5 and the master in an episode I really like. I like the doctor sword fighting. I think its hawt lol.
As for the whole Rose/Doctor compatibility, I'm not honestly sure what I think of their chemistry. This Doctor doesn't quite click like 9 did with her, though from what I've heard they were clicking very often out of character. wink
I'm not deciding on if I like 10 yet. I'm not sure about the character yet, since these two eps only showed him as himself for a long moment. I think I'm just partial to 9 though sometimes, because thats the Doctor who reminded me of the fact that I loved the series.

I'm in the US, and have already seen the entire season. I heart youtube. :giant grin: And I'm still going to rewatch every episode as it airs, and buy the DVDs when they come out. JANUARY 16th!!!

I love both episodes. I love every episode. I'm that obsessive. >>;
