I was randomly searching the internet when I found some interesting stuff on mermaids, that made me wanna post links and the question to everyone here. Have there been, or are there mermaids?
This site shows an urban legend circulated with some gruesome pictures of a supposed mermaid corpse. If you read the explanation, and click on the blue word mermaid however, you will be lead to a mermaid corpse found in Japan that is purported to be 1400 years old, and genetically human on top and fish on bottom. eek
((WARNING: please realize, I'm saying corpse! So you'll be seeing dead bodies))

the crazy thing is, is that even if they are or where real, people would still say they were fake untill some one gets picts of a live one.

I half believe in them. I don't believe their the nice playful d*sney sort of mermaids they try and sell them off as. I mean if they did sitting on rocks singing to sailors that went by so the sailors would crash I have to think why? I personally think they man-eaters that play the harmless beauty bit.....Or I could just be jaded.
I'm one of those that think they were real at one point but not any more.

I mean if they did sitting on rocks singing to sailors that went by so the sailors would crash I have to think why? If you look closely at the 'mummified mermaid' it has fangs sweatdrop That's more in keeping with the 'jaded' line of thought. I tend to agree with this train of thought though, mermaids and sirens being the same thing. Even in Disney's Little Mermaid when Ariel goes up to the boat, it sinks xp . I suppose that's arguable, but it would be an easy leap of reasoning for me.

some of those pics look a bit fake, yeah, i looked at all of the links sweatdrop
but some look possible...... but i think that some would look prettier, think of what the greek sailors said about hoe preety they were. but it makes sence that some would be scary looking.
but i dont think ariel pretty, a few pectoral fins on the tail and arms and that what i would thing.
now i have to go back and google everything i can about it smile

Wow, that's deffinately not pretty. Reminds me of Harry potter Goblet of Fire movie where the mermaid in the prefects bathroom is all pretty and when he actually sees the merpeople they're ugly.

I can't wait to look at the pictures, but it's kinda late so I'll wait until the morning xd . I always thought there was a very strong possibility that mermaids existed, and the same with most mythological creatures that live under the water. They could live in a place that we haven't explored yet, or live in the deep depths of the ocean. I also agree with Dazzler-they're most likely dangerous, or how else coudl they have survived so long? And all this means that there's yet another reason I'm too freaked out to set foot on a boat.
