Quote: CAIRNS, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44. Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called “Ocean’s Deadliest” when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous bard on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said. “He came on top of the stingray and the stingray’s barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart,” said Stainton, who was on board Irwin’s boat at the time. Ok, for all who don't Steve Irwin was that crazy guy on Animal Planet that had that Australian accent, and always tackled all these alligators and stuff. As said in the first paragraph, he was pretty hugely popular. BLAGH! I remember watching his show when I was 5! Man, times are changing...first Mr. Rogers and now Steve Irwin...hopefully Dora the Explorer will be next. HAR.

Sad.... but it was bound to happen sooner or later with how freaking crazy he is, uh, was. I'm surprized he lived through all the aligator/crocadile attacks he had and messing with comodo dragons... kinda ironic thats its not a croc or some other vicious beast that kills him... killed by a simple stingray that only stung him cause he disturbed the area around it... who would have thought he'd go out that way.

Yeah, that's pretty sad. I heard about it a few hours after it happened from like 5 people.
