I was doing a little research on some trainning going on for some of the military preperations for the war on terrorism. I found out that the army is trainning on knife skills and tactics (especially when it comes to being on the ground) has it always been like that?

I have some stuff in an old Black Belt mag or something that talks about it some I will see if I can dig it out and maybe post it. I feel it's worth training if you think it's posible the training may prove that you have little chance but that training may give you a chance at least.
My step brother has a friend over in the middle east and I will tell you they like there knives. His friend was walking down some stairs as a guy was coming up. the guy tryed to stab him his friend pulled his knife and stuck the guy in the head. In close like that in a stair way they could have fell into a wall or down the stairs and it would have been more grappling then your avrerage stand up knife attack.
You could say there are three ways to fight with a knife on the ground, standing and as a projectile you must remember a knife can be thrown. I have a little knowledge on throwing knives it's not a great idea but it can help it dose serve a purpose. I can hit a guy easy at a short range say if they are keeping a safe distance from me I can nail a guy in the leg, face any where if they are withen a few steps if you have other weapons this can help in a fight. You may not see it coming it may seem as if they are just changing hand positions and then you have a knife stiking in your leg.
