...Or do the pictures of Anita Blake make her look too manly? o_O The book covers and stuff make her look funky, in my opinion. But maybe that's just me...?

*blink blink* On the old covers? I don't think she looks manly at all. She just looks mature. She IS 25-30 years old in the books.
What I think, is that she looks too tan. She's supposed to have pale skin 'cause her dad's German ancestory, damn it. >_<
EDIT And I object to your poll. mad There's no "I like it AND she doesn't look manly." option.

Actually in the books, shye has yet to reach 25, she is really young by our standards. I think on the covers they designed all of them wrong, Jean-claude especially. But anita, they make her look too old. She is supposed to be young and exotic looking. They make her look, just, stoic. I agree with you Suicide, I never liked the pics. And sybex hun, her dad was english not german, hence the name blake^^ But yea youa re right, the design they do is all wrong her eyes are too small ,a dn she is too bulky, and yes, far too tanned., and they never show her scars. And i think on one of them, they Made her eyes BLUE!!!! serious!

And i think on one of them, they Made her eyes BLUE!!!! serious! Really? But doesn't she say she has relatives in Hapsburg, Germany in NiC (EDIT: it was OB), and that's how she knew where Olaf was from? And according to the Anita Blake Compendium: "Her pale skin is from her father's Germanic blood". Well, you are indeed right on the English whether she has German or not. Blake is definately an English name. Sorry, my sense of age has always been totally off with books. I guess I picture her older because of how cynical she is. But, I'll add that she has indeed reached 25; infact, she's 26. Wikipedia is wrong sometimes since it's not made by professionals, but... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anita_Blake_(fictional_character) Anita Blake (in the latest book, Danse Macabre) is a twenty-six year old resident of St. Louis. 'Course, I haven't even finished all of Danse Macabre, or the last three or four books... (That's why I'm using websites as sources. I'm not doing it to be obnoxious, if it seems that way. sweatdrop ) And please refrain from calling me "hun". I know it's just slang to some people, but it really irritates me. =( And if it improves anyone's mood anyway, check out the art for the comic. It. Is. Kick. a**. Really, they get her much righter. Pale skin, black curly hair, brown eyes, short, pretty, and they show her scars. Hoorah Brett Booth! SocialSuicide101: Well, then I'm going to boycott your poll! HELL NO, WE WON'T VOTE, WE WON'T VOTE FOR... uh, what's relavent that rhymes with Texaco?

No...she is German. The name "Blake" I believe got shortened. In "Obsedian Butterfly" she mentions her uncle that had a German accent. She also never describes herself as English, just "Mexican" and "German." She might have British blood in her (who knows, we're not given a detailed copy of her family tree), but she is totally German.

And sorry about the hun, thing^^ Hm. Well, just theorizing here, but maybe Jason aged a year over the span of the book (making him 23), and she therefore became 25, and then in Danse Macabre she became 26?
Unless it actually stated Jason's age... bah. Oh well. Jean-Claude has enough age for everyone either way. whee Thanks for that, as well. Some people just get mad when you ask them not to call you something... don't know why...
Ryu Fire: That could be. It does happen pretty often. But, I think we're missing a simple explanation: maybe JKH just wasn't thinking of name history when she named Anita. xd
Or she might've chosen it for it's meaning instead of heritage, which I find likely. It means black, dark, and/or pale-skinned, all of which describe Anita in some way.

true that on Jean claude!!! and i still ahve no clue, the only one i am positive of the exact age is nathaniel!!! he is assuredly 20, and when she met him in narcissis in chains, he was 18, so what ever age she was in narcissis, tack on 2, and we ahve our answer. cause incubus dreams, take place only over like a week, and is mostly sex sadly. if you ignore all the sex scenes*which i ahve no idea why, but laurell has been adding them in all her books, read the meredith necciess books, the entire thing is sex* there is a story in it somewhere, you ahve to knwo the books to see it though^^
