I know there is already a huge thread for this in the main books forum, but this book is sooo good that this guild needs it's own.

I LOVE TWILIGHT!! Mmm..Edward. However, it's sort of weird because vampires were one of the only things that terrified me as a little kid. I still can't get up in the dark without fearing that a vampire will bite my neck..I tend to run through my room at night when I get up to go pee.

Oh and how about the sequel, New Moon? I am exploding with sespense..already read the first chapter (it was releasedon Stephenie Meyer's website). Don't recommend it. VERY upseting!!

Lame book with cheesy, sappy sentiment that portrays not only vampires, but men in general in a ridiculous fashion. All my friends like it, but I was laughing at the sheer ludicrosity of some of Edward's behavior- why don't we just cut his balls off now? As for the sequel, HA. My friends are reading it and I peeked at a page and it's just as horrible.

My sister read it, and recommended it to me. And by recommend, I mean that she said, "This is awful. . . you have to read it!"

Vampires are ridiculously characterized, as usual. Another mythological creature will go through similar treatment in "New Moon". The main character is extremely forgettable, annoyingly whiny, and a complete Mary Sue*.

All in all, amusing in its awfulness. Like the book analogy to "Plan 9 From Outer Space".

*PM me for a definition.

It was a good story, but the characters were not well defined. Edward, as much as I love him, had a completely incorrect character. It was the same with the entire Cullen family. And in New Moon, in Volterra? Horrible. Every character was made into something that they are not. And as for the main character... don't even go there. She whined too much, and she's not a good character to follow around because she can't do anything. It was amazing pathetic for something that started out going so well.

I love the book that moment I picked it up off the Barnes and Nobles shelf! It truly got me into the vampire genre of books! It was not only dramatic, but it had the right amount of comedy, along with the spoon of romance it needed.
This is a book I recommend to all! heart
Edward sounded so hot! xd

Every time I see this thread, I think it's about the ELO song. :(

Twilight, I loved because I am the girl that is always rooting for the bad guy, and by "bad guy" I mean vampires and outcasts and all that. But to be honest, Bella was a totally useless, helpless sap, and Edward...well, you can tell he's centuries old, just by the way he is. But compared to New Moon, Bella is a couragous hero. I will say that Edward was a complete idiot in New Moon, dumping her to make her life better. Jacob was the best one in the sequel, because he is basically the newest main character. Although, I wsh he'd've backed off and let Edward turn Bella into a vampire, already. That's what the whole thing is working up to: either Bella is a vampire, she dies, or Edward dies trying to save her. That stupid treaty...

Since the only sure way to kill a vampire (in this series anyway) is to tear him/her apart and then burn the remains, I'll bet that Edward's balls will eventually connect back to their original place on his body. Hmmm... I wonder if vampires can reproduce...?

I love the character Edward, mainly because of the way he acts, which I think was shaped by the time period he grew up in.

Anyway, I love Twilight and New Moon, and can't wait till the next book! whee My favorite characters are:
heart Edward Cullen heart
Bella Swan
Alice Cullen

I've not read the book, but Lady Dionish said something I had to reply to, that was slightly off topic;
Lady Dio, vampires differentiate greatly depending on which author you read. I'm not really into the whole genre myself, I'm more of a oldschool fantasy/sifi person (,going more for midevil fantasy with books, sifi with anime and movies), but I've read a few.
Anne Rice's vampires can't reproduce, and Bram Stroker (the original, "Dracula") couldn't, so far as I'm aware.

Yeah, I've recenty read a discussion about whether Meyer's vampires could reproduce and I have now come to the conclusion that they can't. I do believe however that they can have sex. wink

I just recently read the book as I borrowed it from the local library. I needed a break from the stress at school and I was not in a very artistic mood at the moment. The book was, in my opinion, good. It was the break I needed as it contained romance and a few other things that I really liked. I would have loved to read it in English though as I'm sure some of it got lost in translation. I'm also new to the vapire genre as I'm mostly into fantasy (especially Harry Potter) so this was something I enjoyed.
