I'd be in a bar fight so I can use beer bottles if you know what I mean. |

Sometimes I feel that using the environment/surroundings is overlooked in a fight. Feel free to list ways here in that you would use the environment/surroundings to your advantage in a fight.
Note: Please limit one thought per post though so that everyone has a chance to share. You can mention something else someone has mentioned as long as you have something to add.
I'll start.
If you end up in a fight in an alley or someplace where you're surrounded mostly by walls, then use them! Back them into corner and eliminate their mobility. If you can, shove them into the wall. The moral of this story? Walls can hurt.

If someone took me to the ground and I saw a bottle or rock or piece of concrete, whatevernear me, I'd grab it and smash it on their face repeatedly I believe. Can't say for sure as i'm not in the situation at this moment, but I can see doing that.

A Low-front-thrust kick to the leg when they advance, then shoving the head to the wall, or corner of wall.

I have drwams sometimes where I'm smashing someone's head onto the sidewalk. I guess that could be using surroundings.

I suggust. if it is a bottle.. since ur going to use it as an offensive weapon.. the best thing to do is smash then stab. biggrin

Because of my ninjutsu background I would use obstacles in my enviroment to get away. It is always best to avoid a fight.

Rocks in a shirt it works ok if you have time to do it. I cary a knife and I wear steel toed boots I also have a key chain that is a long chain with about six keys and a nice sized Yin Yang key ring on it I can swing it just like a Nunchaku and I know it cuts people if it hits them. I hit some one with it once wile we were fooling around.
You can get an old card like a drivers license and glue a razor into it if you are muged you can use it as a weapon you can buy these things too people make them. I had a sock full of pennies that I duck taped that thing would knock some one out real good. I also took a mechanical pencil and put a needle in it.
Oh ya I took a role of pennies stuck nails threw the role between the fingers glued them in and duck taped it up worked good on softer targets. I made a knuckle duster in my machining class. I also have a wallet chain that hangs down to about my knee.

Oh I had a friend who had a bat wraped in skateboard grip tape. and I once had a hose that was full of ball bearings that was wraped in duck tape.
I would like to say if you need a weapon and you have duck tape or PVC pipe you have most of what is needed to kill or beat the crap out of any one.

I would mainly use walls corners or a brick or a stick if I had no weapon.

I'd use anything around me if I needed to. If it can be a distraction or cause damage, i'll use it.

You should read The BooK of the Five Rings, it has tips such as 'on a bright day have your back to the sun, whick will make your opponent face it, making it difficult to aim attacks.' simple things like that can really help!

my fave is to use your keys, everyone carries them, i managed to talk my mates iinto carrying them when they are walkin home alone, it actually instals confidence in them.
if i were to use environment in a fight i would suggest kirbs, you know the bit at the side of the road, the step onto pavement, (i'm not sure if its called the same thing in non-scott countries) as long as you watch your surroundings, any form of uneven ground can be used to your advantage.
example, imagine walkin down the street not watchin your step and suddenly there is a dip then rise, and you stumble. now imagine a boxer sliding forward to punch and stumbling, bingo
theres a small chance of it happening, but i said it cos even the smallest opening should be used.
personally i like wall idea...
