It's a really tough choice, but I went with Sylvester McCoy. He might have had some of the weakest scripts to work with, but his being Time's Champion was very cool. I did love his combination of off-beat and sinister traits as well. (Would any of the other Doctors treat a companion as a pawn in a centuries-spanning gambit?)

I really can't answer this poll yet--I haven't seen enough of Christopher Eccleston yet, and my loyalties to the older Doctors are torn between Tom Baker (the first Doctor I saw), William Hartnell, and Patrick Troughton. I may try to come up with an answer later, but for now I shall remain neutral. As for other Doctors treating companions as pawns, wait until you see "Dalek"......

Davison for me...it was tough decision but I think he fitted that role so well and made it his own-and despite being the youngest there was something entirely authoritative in him that the others just couldn't pull off without looking rather silly I feel. He mixed the right amount of intensity and laid-back good humour...a bit like Ecclestone does but without overdoing it so much. Tom Baker'd probably be second and most of the others would tie for third. There's a point where it becomes impossible to choose between them =D
Oh and am I the only one for whom the votes thingy isn't working? It says nobody's voted...even me o.o

The poll didn't work for me either. I was hoping it was just my computer. I'll probably end up taking the poll down. Unfortunately.

Jon Pertwee, without a doubt, but Tom Baker did a fine job, as has Sylvester McCoy, whilst Colin Baker and Christopher Ecclestone have both brought a darker edge to the character that has certainly been welcome.

I'm having poll problems too. Do remember, boys and girls, that Peter Cushing's Doctor was effectively a cinematic version of Hartnell's, albeit played with a bit more comedy.

Ah but the fact he introduces himself as 'Doctor Who' automatically biases any fan against him...which is a bit of a shame, I didn't really mind the old fool really =D

I like Peter Cushing, but in anything other than Dr. Who. He's just horrible in the part.

Well to be fair i have only started watching Doctor Who since the start of the new series (the 9th Doctor). But my dad says that William Hartnell was the best Doctor. I can only disagree with him and say Christopher Eccleston is my fave Doctor so far. I love him!! He's such a good actor and i can't believe he doesn't wanna do the next series!!!! crying
