Have any girls here had an awesome game store experience? I had a totally awesome one at an EB once. I was buying the Starcraft and Warcraft 3 battlechests, and the cashier said that I had great taste in games. I told him that I was trying to catch up with my boyfriend's game collection, and the cashier said that he is a very lucky guy to have a girlfriend who's willing to play Starcraft with him. biggrin I loved that moment so much! rofl

Only responses I ever got for trying to show off my geek side are wierd stares at best and jeers and suggestions that I at least buy something more 'girly' at worst.
I used to live in such a backwardass town. It's better, though, now.

Its fun going into a gaming store and watching guys' reactions. I get weird stares. At school guys start talking about games and I'll start a conversation and go into alot of detail. Sometimes they ask each other what I'm talking about. Either way, its fun.

I recall when I was in high school my brother would have me tag along to a local LAN and all the guys there would be shocked, even more so when they would get their a** kicked in CS (which I hate now, just to mention) and Magic TG.
Then a few years later when we got into Diablo II ToB online I'd party with his buddies. It was sort of like when I rode the bus and was listening to some White Zombie and the guy across the way asked what I was listening to, I told him and he was completely shocked.
As for shoppes or stores... I really don't pay attention. If my husband is with me then he might point out an obvious gawker (yes, he's obvious, that's why I can see him ~_~; ).

(heh White Zombie.. I'm actually listening to that right now. heart )
Anyways, usually my game store experiences are either good or uneventful. The store that I usually go to (EB) I'm a regular at, plus a couple of guys who work there used to work at the place where I work at now, so I know them personally. It's usually fun going there anyways. Any other store that I go to, I don't really pay attention that much to other people. Honestly I don't really care about other people, I'm there to do my own business and that's about it. There's been a couple of times when I notice that one or two employees, and/or other people in the store might be a little taken back when I start asking them a bunch of detailed questions (*coughgeeknesscough*) about the games... they tend to think along the lines of I'm just buying games just because of the cover or something, hah.
The only time I've ever really had a huge surprised reaction from anyone was when people first started to find out at my work that I'm a huge gamer. I laughed at that, and even years later most of the guys still seem a little freaked out that I play just as much of them. I always get into huge conversations with everyone else at work who's a gamer, and they always seem so taken back. It's quite humorous.

I'm trying to get a job at EB at the moment actually. They said they're considering me and 2 guys, so wish me luck~ (yay girl power, lol) But I guess people do look at me funny.
But the weirdest experience had nothing to do with me buying anything. I had made friends with the manager of EB Games (until he moved elsewhere) and we were just talking one day, when a guy walked in and he had a long snake around his neck. It creeped out most of the other customers in the store, and one lady who came in with her son actually ran back out of the door. T'was hilarious

I was buying a Zelda game, the the cashier also said that I knew how to pick out a good game when I come across one.

I went into EB awhile back, probably a year or so ago and some dickhead had the nerve to tell me that girls "aren't allowed" to play video games, because they "just can't". I told him to go suck his own d**k because no girl or self-respecting gay guy is ever going to do it for him. Then one of the workers told him to get out 4laugh .
It's not usually that bad though, if I know I'm going to be visiting a video-game store, all I have to do is wear my "I like me" Caboose t-shirt and suddenly most of the people love me xD.
I had one of the workers at EB hit on me one time when I was looking for a present for my brother. It turned out he knew my brother from playing F.E.A.R and when I told him who my brother was, he told me he got owned by him last night xDDDD. Most of the time I go into stores with my brother, so when I'm with him no-one says anything. He's 6 foot 4 or 5, and I'm 6 foot, so that helps.

I was with my dad on a business trip to B.C so I decided to walk around for a bit and as luck would have it I FOUND AN EB!!! (Hurrah) Anyways I was terribly bored and I had a lot of cash so I decided to complete my Star Wars video game collection. I needed the KOTOR series so I decided to buy the first one to see if the second was worth getting. When I went up to buy it the cashier spent 5 min talking about KOTOR and threw in KOTOR 2 for free!
It was so awesome and I was so happy to get them both for the price of one! 4laugh

I've always been treated equal in game stores though there was this one funny moment in a Gamestation located in a town that tends to get classed as 'local'. XD XD
We went there to raid them of their retro collection & I brought several games across different consoles. The guy serving me asked if I actually owned the consoles & when he saw the look I gave him he very quickly explained that they get so many idiots buying games for consoles they don't own then bring them back. XD xD

Haha.. Gaming stores are funny for me. I went to preorder a Wii. The guy tried to say and explain all the stuff for it. I guess he didn't expect a 14 year old girl to know about the Wii and Nintendo in gerenal.. And more then him XD Should've seen him flouder *shakes head and laughs* ...It's also at those moments when I realise my life is a very sad one emo
So saaaad. Oh so sa- Oooo, the SSBB theme! YAAAAYS! sweatdrop
