we all know when a human is born it is made a baby and has a mother and father, but when a timelord is born... is it a baby or a grown adult? because they say that timelords dont appear to be aging but they are so how did the doctor become the way he is? we all know he regenerated but his fist life he was the begining... wasnt it, that would also mean he would have parents... they would be didpointed almost 1000 years without visiting a bad son lol .

Isn't there some Loom thing? I've read references to it in fanfictions. They don't actually have children, but instead are created. But the Doctor is half-human so he could, or something like that. Well, I've heard he's half human.

According to the New Adventure "Lungbarrow", vague spoilers - highlight to read the Doctor did come out of the Loom as a fully formed adult, but had a navel. There was all sorts of intrigue about his DNA. Normal Time Lords start off as adults and do age. When they get sufficiently aged, they will regenerate (hence the white-haired First Doctor - he had had time to age). Unfortunately, the Doctor's lifestyle generally means he doesn't have time to get old and is going through his regenerations rather faster than most of his brethren. No idea how canon this is, mind you - the Beeb has kept schtum about the Virgin New Adventures and their continuity. DW

I suppose now's a good time to mention that "Lungbarrow" can be read for free off of the BBC's Doctor Who website. It's one of several novels available as eBooks... http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/ebooks/index.shtmlLike Warnersister mentioned, no idea if their treating the books as canon with respect to the TV show. It's an interesting read, nonetheless. Probably... ((I've never read it))

well, in the girl in the fire place (My favourite episode) when the doctor is reading madam de pompedor's thoughts, she reads his and says
'oh, doctor, such a lonely little boy'
which suggests that he has parents and a childhood, and don't forget that the timelords are all dead, probably including his mum and dad or the one that is a time lord if he is half human, also suggesting that if his other parent was human that he or she would be dead
also in fear her, the doctor was a dad once, which would suggest that he knows about familys if he had one

Takuha TheFourthDoctor he is half human in his mothers side i think the doctors half human? Yeah... I've never heard anything for sure, but I know there are some books that say so. And it makes sense. Why else would he be SO different from other Time Lords? He's more free, happy... He even loves Earth.

I hope sometime along RTD decides to write an eppy where we visit the Doctor's 'childhood'. Although there might be some continuety (sp?) issues >.<

I think that during their first lives, time lords age 'normally', then their second life comes and they just end up as how they look. Maybe the doctor will regenerate as a teenager sometime... eek

THis topic could go on forever with all the different possible theories to Gallifreyan/Time-Lord reproduction.
