I think it is just another way to have her remembered. Like if you see a giant sword you think of Cloud or a ninja type outfit you remember Yuffie. I think the boobs are that for Tifa.

Well, Game Designers are perverted. Lara Croft, Chun-Li, Morrigan, the list goes on. They like to make the girls beautiful as well as strong.
They made Tifa's bust a lot more reasonable in AC, but still keeping her beauty and strength, but in FF7... I guess it was just because they wanted to let out their perversion in a way that they could, by giving one of their main girls a large bust...
Thing is, a lot of people make fun of her for it, but.... Got a few things to say... Negima, Love Hina, Darkstalkers... They like to design them with buxom bodies and large cup sizes, but that DOES NOT MAKE THEM SLUTS!
So to any Tifa-Haters out there that think she's a slut, pauk dat sheet. That's all I gotta say. PM me, and we can have a discussion on it. I will prove you wrong, my friend, I will prove you wrong.

Tifa's Bust Size Is Hilarious In The Game But Make Sense In Advent Children.
Personally, I Like Aeris/ Aerith Better But Tifa is Awesome Too.
I Also Like Yuffie.

I heard somewhere that the same guy who designed Lara Croft designed Tifa's character as well...but that could've been wrong. sweatdrop But y'know...I guess it's to make guys want to play it more...to have more want to buy the game...
Though it's kinda sad...since not every girl out there has giant boobs like that. sweatdrop It's just unrealistic...

I don't see what the big deal about boobs are. A guy could have the same cup size as Tifa, but you don't see me flipping over them! Personally, to me, height matters (cause I'm short)
But anyways, Tifa's breasts are the selling point of her character. People pay attention to her because of her breasts. If she didn't have them, her character would go a little un-noticed. But then again, size ratio of all characters are a little off.
Cloud: sword, hair
Sephiroth: sword, torso
Yuffie: Legs
Aerith: hands
Barret: small head
Cid: legs
Vincent: legs
They weren't really as proportioned as you would expect, but minor details like these are what draws us to the game. If Zidane didn't have the tail in FF9, I probably would have played it a bit more.
Besides, usually the drawings of final fantasy (before 7) were drawn by Amono (sp?) His drawing style is way different, so the variation from one to another is very noticable!

Well, I'm with Onjay on the points how it makes her stand out because of the misproportion.
But, I guess it is literally how some people believe.. the person who decided to create the model for Tifa was just feeling a little... perverted at the time and happened to like larger bust.
I mean.. If anything that's the only thing about Tifa's character (in the end) that really is wierd and kinda poor(at least to me)...
But ya... it's probably something similar to that of Grenadier... Subdue the enemy before the fight and allow her to hit harder? o-O? xd

Wow, some of the crap I read was kinda harsh on Tifa and Japan... I mean, even if Tifa had a cup size smaller than Yuffie, she's still a great fighter with a kind personality. She can be motherly and caring, but turn vicious and malicious if her friends or family are threatened.
Like I said before, men sometime lets out their perversion, and some people let it out in different ways. The ones at the character design table just wanted to give Tifa a large bust cause it was their way of letting it out. That, and bringing more perverted teens into the gaming scene.
Didn't work on me, I just played cause the cover had a kid with a large sword in the cover. Looked cool, I played it.
