Okay, I think most of us have seen one or both of these two legacies. Both set the stage for all things sci-fi in space. Basically what I'm askin is..

D'you think that Luke Skywalker could kick Captain Kirk's butt? D'you think that Mr. Spock could pwn Obi Wan? D'you think that Deanna Troi is hotter than Princess Leia? Rant it out!

Capt. Kirk pwn's Skywalker.

Same with Mr. Spock and Obi.

But, Darthvader can hand their bottoms in a box to both of them at the same time.

Just because I like both of them doesn't make me a nerd. I'm not an obsessed fangirl of either.

Psh. I could care less about either. It's just common knowledge that Star Trek is better than Star Wars.

Well now. Both these series are near and dear to my heart. I've seen all 6 Star Wars movies, and probably every episode of Star Trek and Star Trek TNG too. But if anybody's expecting a rant, they will be disappointed and should probably move on to another thread. Sorry.

Overall, I guess I'd say I like Star Trek's characters better (with the possible exception of Han Solo). Because it's a TV program and goes on over the course of time, unlike a film, those people are better developed as characters, have more stories they can tell, and have to be more likable.

On the other hand, in terms of FX and sexy pacing, I'll take Star Wars. Especially the first three films (episodes 4-6). The characters were engaging, the story moved along so nicely, very well paced, and Lucas was a true pioneer of visual FX. But then, in the next three movies (episodes 1-3, yeah, I know, it's backwards), Lucas started taking himself too seriously, decided Star Wars was an epic drama and wrecked it with his bombast and angst and film noir and political intrigues. Yes, the FX got better, way better in between, but even though I'm an FX artist myself, who cares? I go to the movies for a story. Bleah.

Nope, I'm not a nerd, I've never dressed up like a Klingon or Princess Leia, but I have found both of these to be highly entertaining, and I like to be entertained.

No...we'd be "nerds" if you we were like 'Well, in episode 729B of Star Trek blah-blah-blah' or something of that ilk. We are just comparing them in a humorous way. rolleyes

Or... You could just based your answer on JUST the characters and how like... strong they are and junk... You didn't have to go all out....

Oh, I see your point. In fact, since it's all common knowledge about which one is better, I might have saved my breath entirely.

Man, you didn't have to turn my words around on me. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. I was just saying.

I'm a nice person, I don't like offending people! crying

Actually, it depends. But on Gaia I don't!
