From SciFi Wire!
Quote:
Who Boosts SCI FI Ratings

The new updated Doctor Who boosted SCI FI Channel's ratings on Friday nights by double digits, the network reported. The new version of Doctor Who, produced by the BBC, wrapped its first season on SCI FI on June 9.

Doctor Who averaged a 1.3 household rating and 1.5 million total viewers in its 9 p.m. Friday timeslot, a 44 percent increase in ratings and a 54 percent increase in viewership over the same timeslot in the second quarter last year.

In key demographics, Doctor Who averaged 778,000 viewers aged 18-49, a 57 percent increase over 2005, and 942,000 viewers aged 25-54, a 56 percent increase.

Executive-produced by Russell T. Davies and Julie Gardner, the 13-episode hourlong drama starred Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper.

I'm glad Doctor Who is faring well over there. More success for the series can only be a good thing.

Somehow, that makes sence... SciFi needs some shows like that, anyway.

Yay for Doctor Who!

Maybe they will pick up the old doctors, too!
PostPosted: Wed Jun 14, 2006 8:38 pm

That would be awesome! I really want to watch the Fourth Doctor era... and have been searching for the DVDs. But I would love to watch them for free on TV, instead of having to go and buy them. Even if SciFi showed the older ones late, I would either stay up or pop in a VHS tape.

Awesome, so there's no doubt the second season for the new series is gonna be pick up by SciFi. X3 People are gonna want more!

I can't think of any reason Sci Fi can't pick up some of the old episodes (Jon Pertree thru Colin Baker eras = heart ). They can show it late at night. They did the same thing when they started showing old 1960's Outer Limits episodes. blaugh

They could even have a marathon. biggrin They do it often enough with The Twilight Zone.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 16, 2006 6:52 pm

Oh my god, yeah. Twilight Zone is a good show and all, but I have sen so many marathons, that I have all the episodes memorized. And, frankly, I'm sick of watching them. Can't we just skip the Twilight Zone marathon just ne year and replace it with something else? Anything else? stressed

No official word yet. I'm watching the Sci Fi DW Board for my info; there are some pretty well-informed fans over there.

Like Eirwyn said, still no official word. I've heard idle speculation by some fans that maybe they'd start in October when Neo-Battlestar Galactica returns for it's third season. The reason being that apparently the two Stargate shows will both be ending their current batch of new episodes for the year around that time. ((Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that point... I don't actually watch Stargate)).

I still can't believe they're going to be showing Extreme Wrestling on the friggin' SciFi network... rolleyes
