Jack Harkness
Funny... spiffeh... innuendo-esque...
Warning... this contains spoilers. Duh!
Doctor Who
Captain Jack Harkness is the former Time Agent who flirts with everyone he meets, literally. He's... omnisexual. Played by John Barrowman, he brought an awesome new style to the show while he was still around during the Ninth Doctor's era. He first appears in the episode The Empty Child and becomes an official member of the TARDIS crew in The Doctor Dances.
According to him, the Time Agency stole two years of his memories, and he wants them back. After unsuccessfully trying to con Rose and the Doctor, he redeems himself and joins up with them after his own time traveling ship is destroyed. Jack is American and from the 51st century. He is an expert in many different weapons, including a Sonic Blaster. Heh. And apparently bananas.
In The Parting of the Ways, he is killed by a Dalek. Instead of freaking out that he's about to be killed, he takes it all in stride.
"Exterminate!"
"Yeah, I kind of figured that."
ZAP
When Rose comes back with the power of the Time Vortex, she revives Jack. Her memory is altered and doesn't remember doing so. The Doctor and her leave him behind on the space station.
Torchwood
Torchwood is a spin-off of Doctor who based in Cardiff, Whales, present time (2006). Jack is the leader of Torchwood branch three. His coworkers are Suzie Costello (who is killed and replaced in the first episode), Gwen Cooper, Owen Harper, Toshiko Sato, and Ianto Jones.
In the first episode we find out that after Rose brought back from the dead, he hasn't been able to die. So far a bullet to the head and two zappings from a cyberwoman haven't managed to kill him. He also says that he's searching for 'a doctor, the right kind of doctor' who will be able to help him. Jack also owns the tenth Doctor's hand that was chopped off in The Christmas Invasion. At one point he even gives an alien life power just by kissing her, and brings Ianto back from the dead after drowning. (Well, at least that's what it looked like to me. Correct me if I'm wrong.) Much speculation has also gone on as to whether or not he can have sex without killing his partner, and also how old he is. Some speculate that he might be older than the Doctor at this point. He isn't seen drinking alcohol (which is very unlike him) until the fifth episode. Even at bars he's seen drinking just water.
It seems we are going to find out much more about Jack by the end of the first, and hopefully not last, season of Torchwood. I can't wait for the episode 'Jack Harkness'.
Series 3
It's official! Captain Jack Harkness will be returning to Doctor Who for the end of series three. YAY!
It's going to be interesting to see the Doctor and Jack meet back up again. The problem is that as far as we can tell, Jack doesn't know about regeneration. And the Doctor thinks that Jack is dead. I can't wait for when they finally meet back up again. Is the Doctor going to think that Jack should die since he shouldn't be alive in the first place? My own personall theory is that the Doctor will feel the need to kill Jack to prevent a paradox from happening. That is, if it hasn't already and we just don't know about it.

Quotes
[About the last person they snogged]
Jack: Are we including non-human life-forms?
Gwen: When you got electrocuted, I thought just for a second that maybe you could die after all.
Jack: Can I tell you a secret? So did I; and just for that second, I felt so alive.
Jack: And lo, we are perceived.
Jack: I can taste it. Oestrogen. Definitely oestrogen…Contraceptives in the rain… I love this planet. Well, at least I won’t get pregnant. Never doing that again.
Gwen: If it's invisible, why don't people fall in; there's a great big bloody hole in the floor!
Jack: That is so Welsh, that is. I show you something amazing; you find fault.
Jack: Who looks at a screwdriver and thinks, 'Oo-hoo, this could be a little more sonic?'
Doctor: Well, it's got to find us first. C'mon, we're not done yet. Assets! Assets!
Jack: Well, I've got a banana, and in a pinch you could put up some shelves.
Jack: Okay, Defabricator. Does exactly what it says. Am I naked in front of millions of viewers?
Robots: Absolutely.
Jack: Ladies, your viewing figures just went up.
Robots: But... that's a compact laser delux. Where were you hiding that!?
Jack: You really don't wanna know.
Pics

I love this... It's not really a logo, per say, but it's still awesome. :kills BBC logo: Cropping hates me, okay?

Am I the only one who just absolutely loves this picture?

Jaaack! Jaaaack!! Jaaaaaaaaaaack! YAAAYJAAACK *ahem* Okay, I'm done now.

Oh come on. You know you've gotta love the group photo.

The logo! w00t!

The Parting of the Ways... A defabricator somehow becomes a gun.

The Empty Child... And of course Jack just happens to see Rose... hanging from a barrage balloon. Seriously, where'd the writers come up with that one?

The Empty Child... Such a charmer! Dancing... champagne... All in front of Big Ben on a space ship. Yep, I think this says Jack likes to impress people. ^^

Boom Town... I'm not sure why I put this pic up... I'd only slept three hours! But now I'm too lazy to take it down. biggrin

The Parting of the Ways... A look of... concentration?

The Parting of the Ways... really is a parting of ways! Saying goodbye. I think they deserve a huge "Aaaw!"

The Parting of the Ways... To those of you in the UK, lucky! No one makes a big deal out of this. I'm in America. The reaction is something akin to "Ack! A man... kissed... another man! HOW aweful!" So, like I said, you guys are lucky. I actually thought it was very sweet and Jack-ish. But noooo... some of my fellows have to complain. :kicks a couple million people in the shins:

The Parting of the Ways... My exact thoughts, "Nuuur!" Although I love the camera angle. Through a Dalek's eyes! How cool is that? ^^

The Parting of the Ways... He's dead! My thoughts were... "ZOMG!" And since I read the episode summaries and all... I knew he was coming back... but still!

The Doctor Dances... Jack finally starts to take the situation seriously. 'Bout time.

The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances... I'm fairly certain this is a promo pic, because I don't remember a camera shot like this. But still! I loved the ship so much... it must have been so hard to make. biggrin But so AWESOME!

The Doctor Dances... Riding a bomb. Wow. Gotta give everyone credit for 'unique'. 3nodding

Boom Town... Ah yes. If I'm not mistaken this is when Jack smirks at Mickey? Hm... he made fun of the poor guy a lot in that episode. biggrin
