While reading through the Why Homosexuality (and Bi-sexuality) is Immoral and Wrong thread I saw in one of the paragraphs I saw this Quote: As you can see Jesus teaching regarding such matters as divorce, women priests, abortion, homosexuality, pre-marital sex and birth control are of one piece. Once a person accepts any one of those practices, they soon wind up buying the whole package. now...I have to take birth control to regulate my periods. If I don't take birth control pills I will and have gone up to a year and a half without having a period which is why I had to go on birth control in the first place. I don't understand why it would be wrong to take birth control for this reason. And understand that I don't go out and have sex just because I have birth control, so I don't see why it is such a 'bad' thing. Also, while I'm looking at this quote, why would women priests be wrong to accept? What is wrong with a female priest? I don't understand that because I have never heard anywhere that to be a minister or priest you have to have a p***s. So, could someone please explain that to me?

I see nothing wrong with birth control, that's just this guy's opinion. I don't see anything wrong with female priests either...my pastor is a woman for penguin's sake!!! I do, however, have a HUGE problem with divorce, abortion, homosexuality, pre-marital sex, etc. Whatever you think is right.

Well, I think it's okay if you're just using it to help with periods and not to be a slut.

Dead_Ed Well, I think it's okay if you're just using it to help with periods and not to be a slut. Well, of course...but I was wondering if the thing itself were bad. Also, if you're married and just don't want kids...I know that in the Catholic church it's considered a sin...but then again, I haven't been to the Catholic church in about 7 years.

I agree with what's being said.
Just like with any drug there are uses and abuses.
I don't believe that birth control is wrong.
But your question about the female priest is easily answered:
If you read the Bible, men are to be the leaders in the church. Men are the spiritual head of the household. That's how God decreed it. I used to know a verse pertaining to this, but I forgot it. So I'll have to get back to you on that.

I don't think it's wrong to use birth control for periods and such at all. But when people to go out and have a "good time"... they should go headbutt a bullet. *hates seeing 13-whatever age that isn't married going out and having sex because it's fun**hopes they get many STD's* stressed

They were probably talking about the catholic church. And i think in the time that it was written that women cannot be leaders in the church, it was completely appropriate. Mostly because us women weren't considered to be humans. The church would have been more than ridiculed about it. But I think it is fully ok for us to be leaders in the church in modern times.

Ok, I am married, and I take birth control to keep us from having a child until we are ready for one. I have no idea why they would consider it wrong, unless they were under the false assumption that it kills the baby or "egg" which is incorrect. Most birth control is a spermicide, it kills what causes an egg to be fertilized before it creates life, OR it messes with the female body to prevent things from happening that would allow you to get pregnant. As you can see I am no medical student, but that is the best way I knew to put it smile . I have also been told that it is wrong for females to hold positions in the church. I think this is wrong, considering that in the bible Jesus is very tolerant of his female followers, and treats them as equals. A lot of people quote Paul as saying that "a woman should not teach a man" and therefore should not lead a congregation. But there are just as many scholars that readily point out that he was speaking to his people in his culture at his time. He also stated that women should keep their heads covered, another tradition that we no longer adhere to in our society, so no, I don't see it as wrong for a woman to be a priest, pastor, deacon, etc.

I have PCO (aka PCOS) PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. I get Cysts on my ovaries. So I have to take birth control to regulate my periods and to prevent Cysts (Which can be painful). There is nothing wrong with birth control when used for this reason, cramps, or regulation.
The reason why it is seen that birth control is bad is for this reason:
It us often used in prostitution, and prevents pregnancy. When used for this reason, it is wrong. Also, in marriage it is okay. BUT...there is always the chance that that female is cheating on her husband and having the birth control erases a key piece of evidence of this adultery.
It's good for some reasons, but it's bad for others.
PS: Spermicides kill sperm. ^^ Enough said.

I don't see birth control as a bad thing. Especially if you're unprepared to take care of a child. I doubt God wants any miserable kids with unsuited parents living anywhere (no offense).
As for women preachers, everything in history has been sexist since the world began. And men wrote the bible. I don't know if God told them to or not, but I bet part of preaching against women preachers was their doing.

I don't take offense to that, it is a good position on the subject *it's technically the reason that I'm pro-choice* Anyway, I'm not even thinking about/wanting kids. I'm not even thinking about/wanting to participate in the process to make kids at this point and time in my life.
