Disgaea
Netherworld Battle Chronicle: Disgaea
Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
Plot Summary: Based on the hit video game by Nippon Ichi. After a two year slumber, Laharl, the prince of the Netherworld, finds the Netherworld in chaos after the death of his father, King Krichevskoy. Not wasting any time, Laharl, with the help of his father's former vassal Etna, sets out to conquer the Netherworld and proclaim himself Overlord.
Makai Senki Disgaea follows the the same general canon as the game, however some roles and timing of events are altered. New merchandise from the anime is also being produced. Foreign products and release dates have yet to be announced.
Number of episodes: (out now) 12
offical website: http://akaitsuki.net/index.html
Interesting Facts:
+Flonne appears from the beginning and is the one who wakes Laharl, rather than Etna. Laharl is found in a garbage dump, where he's apparently been tossed while he was asleep.
+Gordon and his team appear in the first episode, on a mission to exterminate demons, as opposed to being on a mission to slaughter the Overlord. In the series, they play a role similar to Team Rocket in the Pokemon anime: the hapless reoccurring antagoists who sometimes help the heroes, but often come out of it worse for wear.
+Jennifer and Thursday have been revamped
+Laharl uses his scarf to shape-shift for his convenience.
+Hoggmeiser's son's role in episode 4 of the anime is more significant in comparison to his role in the video game.
+Sardia, a demon slayer who is always has uncertainty over anything that happens (Whenever she is asked if she could do something, she replies with a 'maybe'), has a more prominent role this time in comparison to her obscure role in the game.
+Maderas' personality and voice is much different from his game counterpart.
+Laharl's sister, who's character design was rejected from the game, makes her appearance here in the anime.
