Alrighty; I guess i should mention the why of wanting a FeeDee(oh, the name brings me great joy!) I have been a major lurker in this shop off and on since it first opened (I was one of the first who applied for a position in the guild, if my memory serves... it doesn't LOL. It seemed like a long time ago, but i guess it wasn't) Due to a lack of time, planning and general forgetfullness, I always manage to log on to Gaia about a day or two after the last contest/FS/raffle,etc. was on. Due to these grave errors in judgement, I happily found this thread once more (yippee!!) and I have finally been able to at least put my lot in with the rest of the rabid FeeDee lovers.
Thanks!! (concept crits and comments would be much appreciated at this stage!!)
Excerpt ...fair to look upon, Clever, witty-and so on. But she was in equal measure Stubborn, haughty, wilful, jealous. In her dowry rich and vast Was a little looking-glass. It had this unique distinction: It could speak with perfect diction. Only with this glass would she In a pleasant humour be. Many times a day she'd greet it And coquettishly entreat it: "Tell me, pretty looking-glass, Nothing but the truth, I ask:
...
Interesting Facts: This concept started out as Relica, but as I started to re-read the story on the main pages of the thread, I realized that there were some fun similarities between my original character Ebony Black's world, and the Forgotten.
For instance, the story-book world that Ebony lives in is controlled by a single room, called the "Centre of the Universe". This room is so massived that even though it is circular in shape, it is so vast that you cannot see the end of the room, and the walls appear to be straight, not curved. The books in this great library all contain a world in their pages.
Something completely non-related, yet still fun: Merlin, who resides in the centre of the universe, gets around on a golden ladder that is latched on to the bookshelves and is propelled by rockets.
Yes.
Merlin is my hero.

The Forgotten- Ebony Black Forgotten's Name: Ebony Black Forgotten's Gender: Female Forgotten's Appearance (Physical): Although tiny in stature, Ebony Black makes up for this grievous error by having the most absurdly curly mass of red hair that seems to have a mind of its own. Freckles are far too afraid to dust her face, and even the colour of her eyes seems to be somewhat shocked by this great load of hair and have given up on being anything but simply black. The shocking red hair only adds to the feeling that Ebony is somewhat ethereal and too perfect to be true, as these are not unruly curls, but a perfectly coiffed head of hair. Her nose is a button, and her eyes are wide and thoughtfull. Her lips are tiny bows, and poets could wax poetic about the apples of her cheeks. In short, Ebony is a beauty. She also knows how to dress. Ebony was always concerned about her appearance, which concerned her mother. Undoubtably, Natsube wonders where her daughter's lack of individuality came from, as Natsube herself is quite *ahem* creative in how she dresses. Ebony opts for a classic look, usually a cream coloured underdress, with a dark coloured laced corset overtop. Ebony takes good care of her clothing, and if a stain or tear appears that item is removed from her sight. Natsube isn't allowed to touch any of Ebony's clothing, who chooses to do her own laundry in an attempt to "do things right". "White as snow, red as blood and black as Ebony", pretty much sums up how Ebony appears. Forgotten's Appearance (Traits): Ebony Black apears exactly as she is; an unruly, selfish child who can twist the adults to her will. She knows that she can get away with things that ugly children cannot, and will tell them so. Ebony is annoying, demanding and constantly on the lookout for some trouble that she can get in to. Children Ebony's age are either afraid of her, or completely respect her. She gets her way by being unerringly sweet and kind, and simpers her way to getting anything she wants. Ebony's greatest trait is her ability to calculate and be silent. Her stare makes others uneasy and once she begins to speak, even those who were made uneasy by her stare start to turn towards her. Her voice is just as beautiful as her appearance is. But beauty can be a curse too, and Ebony soon finds this out. Forgotten's Personality: Ebony began as a sweet little thing, content with her lot in life and being the sweetest child one ever did see. But something changed as she became an older child and she became distant, silent and cruel. Ebony is wholly self-centered and knows exactly how to get what she wants. She never takes the time to actually think about what it is she that she really needs, or whether she is using her moral judgement. Ebony continually gets in to troube but manages to escape punishment by using her charms. Ebony is warring with her two different personalities. At heart, Ebony is really sweet and nice and prone to generosity. But she shows the world a darker persona, one that very few enjoy being around. Sadly, as she grows older, it becomes harder for Ebony to remember being nice, and she is slowly becoming the persona that she has created to protect herself. Looking-glass was given strict orders to make sure the Ebony "toes the line", as it was, but Ebony knows exacty what makes Glass tick, and even abuses her relationship with him to get her own way. In short, Ebony knows too much for a little child and is somewhat of a bully. She may have a lot of knowledge, but she never actually thinks about her actions, only of the rewards. Ebony is firmly in the "here and now", not the past or the present, and as such cannot learn from her mistakes. Ebony is resentful of all those whom she considers to have "more" than she does, envious of things that she does not have. There is some good in Ebony's heart, though buried deep.

Daemon-Looking-Glass Daemon's Name: Looking-Glass Daemon's Species: Glass Ram Daemon's Appearance (Physical): Looking-Glass is a large ram, with golden horns and hoofs, and made completely of glass. His chin is bare when he is "born" but he soon grows a long beard as he ages. He has a golden heart inside of his body, which can be seen through his body. Glass grows only slightly larger than Ebony which makes it impossible for her to ride him. As Glass grows older, the glass that his body is made of begins to clear. Daemon's Appearance (Traits): Glass is considered one of the most level headed and calm Daemons around. he has to be, as his gift for truth makes him a fair judge. Glass is always willing to help others and many see him as a generous, kind soul; someone they would much rather deal with than Ebony. Glass considers himself far above Ebony's narcissistic tendencies, but takes pride in keeping himself shiny and gleaming. Glass likes to run and strains the bond that ties him to Ebony as tight as he can so that he can run as free as he can. Glass collects sparklies like a magpie... and Natsube. Daemon's Personality: Looking-glass would tell you that he's a far better person than Ebony and he would be quite right. But it is not that hard to be a better person than Ebony, and Glass has his own faults. Glass believes that as long as he believes in Ebony, she won't do anything wrong. Ebony continues to disprove that belief, but Glass foolishly continues to think Ebony will become an upstanding member of the community. With his glass-like exterior, you would think that Glass would be easy to read, emotionally at least. But Glass is somewhat of an enigma; most consider it very easy to read his emotions, but Glass would tell you that he's not feeling like that at all. SOme say that Glass is just trying to hide what he is feeling, but Glass himself does not know whther that is true or not. Glass is EXTREMELY stubborn, and when he latches on to an idea, he doesn't soon let go of it. Glass is very good at debating, arguing and judging; his abilities allow him to be like that. Glass, on the other hand, is also quick to anger, and continues being angry for a long time. While some would brave his anger to know the truth, others are quite happy being in the dark. Glass is afraid that if he confides in Ebony and tells her what she has become, Ebony won't like him anymore. Glass is easily frustrated, easily angry and easily upset. His heart is so easy to see and to read that he almost resents Ebony's ability to manipulate how people perceive her. Although he is so easy to read, his change in personality only appears for a short time, and then Glass is back to his nuetral emotive state. Glass has a lazy personality and is tries to be calm most of the time. Ebony knows how to push his buttons. When she wants something of him, with enough needling and yelling, she usually gets it. Glass is determined to make something out of Ebony, and is constantly having to fight her in order to get her to retain some of her human tendancies.

Excerpt Further Reviewed How does the excerpt affect the pair?: Ebony starts out believing that the excerpt is a foolish scrap of paper, with absolutely no hold on her. As Ebony begins to grow, and she acutually begins to think of what she has become, Ebony realizes that the excerpt is in fact running her life. She looks to Glass to tell her that she is right and good and beautiful, even when she and everyone else knows she is not. It affects Ebony the most, as she is only pleasant to be around when Glass is nearby, even as she becomes fearful of him. Glass does not understand that Ebony is a terror most of the time, but very sweet as long as she's touching glass. What does it reveal about.. Ebony's relationship with others is strained by her unwillingness to let anyone inside her tough exterior. She has problems seeing deep inside herself and is afraid of the mirror in her excerpt. .. their past?: Ebony is following in the footsteps of the evil, jealous queen of the excerpt, in her attempt to be less like the silly girl that she is named for. Looking-glass is afraid that history will repeat itself and he is loathe to tell Ebony the truth about the excerpt, even though he believes that he has figured it out. Looking-glass is afraid that knowing what has happened before will only harm Ebony, making her facade of being a mean spirited girl dissolve, and leave in her place a silly, sad simpering idiot. And although Glass is not very happy with how Ebony is turning out, he'd rather Ebony have a backbone.
.. how they are now that they are "reborn" as a Forgotten? In an attempt to change her future, Ebony has torn herself from the frankly idiotic child who was killed thrice in her story and became something of a monster. Ebony was so determined not to be trusting, and not to be so sweet that she has become harmful herself. Glass continues to be her mirror, but instead of revealing who Ebony really is, Glass distorts the image to suit Ebony, creating more harm than good.
Glass is forced to tell Ebony the truth, and he cannot keep secrets from her. On the flipside, Ebony is unable to tell untruths around Glass, so it makes their relationship a little edgy.
.. their future?: Ebony needs to find a grey area between being incredibly selfish and unbelievably generous. If she does not, Ebony could become an evil, jealous person determined to destroy anything more than she is.
Powers, talents, special traits?: Ebony herself does not have a particular talent or gift; her hobbies include gazing at her reflection and receiving items that are not her own, and do not make her happy. Ebony's one talent is manipulation and her ability to speak sweetly. Glass is the one with the true powers in their relationship. As Glass grows, he realizes that it becomes harder and harder for him to speak untruths. In their teens, his power of truth becomes so powerful that the people around him can only speak the truth in his presence. He is a mirror; though his heart is made of gold, Glass will show whoever gazes upon his form who they really are inside, showing them the "truth" of their soul, no matter how torned or stained it could be. As Ebony grows older, Ebony realizes that she isn't just lucky at escaping from near death, but she is unable to die. No matter what happens, Ebony usually can find a loophole out of which she can spring back in to life. This ability may or may not be seen for a long while (though it would be fun to see LOL) Glass can also change the heat of his body at will, which is embarrising to him. Anyone can know how he is feeling at any time at all, and he resents that. Other important qualities: Ebony is afraid of what she has become in her quest to be strong and independant, but is more afraid that she can never go back to who she was before. Ebony is afraid of mirrors, and has had all mirrors and reflective surfaces removed from her room. Since Glass is born cracked, Ebony doesn't mind him, but as he grows, he becomes more clear and Ebony becomes fearful. Other important concept details: Ebony continually moves in a path of self-destruction. Ebony begins as a sweet child, but as she realizes that sweet, pretty girls in stories usually come to either be married off or die by their own stupidity, Ebony is determined to put a stop to that in her life. Thus, Ebony hardens herself and uses whatever she has on hand to keep people from seeing her soft core. Soon, her soft core has eroded as she becomes drunk with her power, and the relative ease that she can use to get people to bend to her will. Ebony cannot believe that she has become evil. Until she can accept that she is doing something wrong, and the excerpt as important to her life, she is unable to change, and continues being a surly, selfish little toad.

Natsube Guardian's Name: Natsube Nickname: Natsu, You There! Age: 19 Personality: Natsube posesses one of the most cheerful personalities anywhere. Anything will set her mood to "happy" from baking cookies to seeing her "charge" smile at her (which isn't that often). She never sees that glass half empty; she never really sees it half anything. Natsube is excited easily, and enjoys all sorts of fun, laughter and general noise, especially if it is coming from Ebony. Natsube enjoys talking to her plants, which turn out to number only one, since she absolutely despises gardening and sometimes sings (badly) to the plant, whom she has called Rune. Natsube may be young, but she seems to have a pretty good head on her shoulders, even when distracted by anything cute/shiney/pretty/somewhat neat looking, etc. Appearance: Natsube loves to dye her hair odd colours, but is happy with her current colour. She is notorious for changing the style and length at any time, and often does it herself, with disastrous results. Her clothing is usually pretty plain, just jeans and an old shirt, but she can dress up if she really has to. What She Thinks About Her Forgotten: First of all, she absolutely swears on the singing pineapples that Ebony started off as a sweet, adorable child. Everyone else swears that even though they have to grudgingly give Natsube "adorable", they would never consider Ebony "sweet". Natsube is saddened by her daughter's lack of interest in anything but herself. Though she tries hard to be a good mother, Natsube is finding it hard to mother a child that would rather be a cool, distant adult than a 3 year old child. Natsube resolutely believes that with hard work and strict rules, Ebony will become a stable, useful member of the Forgotten, and perhaps even society! Maybe; it would help if Natsube actually worked hard, and didn't cave in to Ebony's every whim. What Natsube's Forgotten Thinks of Her: Ebony is as happy living as Natsube's daughter as Ebony can really be. Ebony is quietly withdrawing from her mother, as she is disquieted by Natsube's apparent lack of depth. Ebony feels some disquieting nervousness when she pulls the wool over her mother's eyes in her attempts to get what she wants, but the guilt is slowly starting to go. Its getting easier and easier for Ebony to lie to her mother. She calls Natsube "Mother"; Natsube wishes to be called "Mommy". What Heartbeat and Natsube Think of Each Other: The Daemon personally loves Natsube, and she loves him back. He loves her because she is good, kind, and loves to scratch him right where he likes it. She loves him because he is sparkly and shiny. They have firm relationship between the two of them.

Contest Preview Prompt You decide on a trip to the house and the Library with your Forgotten and it's daemon. Of course, you're not exactly sure how to find the Library because it certainly isn't the same way that you went last time ( not that you can really remember how you got there last time; a few too many accidents on the way ). It seems, however, that the house is up to it's usual tricks and somehow, despite everything, you get separated from your toddler. And then the real trouble begins. You find yourself on a quest within this house that can't possibly be this large ( it didn't look as big from the outside! ) and facing many trials and perils along the way. You must make it through the dangers the tricky house poses and find wherever it's hidden your toddler. It cannot be helped if the house is testing you to see if you're truly worthy of being a guardian. ... or it's really, really bored. Mind your feet as you explore, it does so like sucking them into the floorboards. Meanwhile your Forgotten and it's daemon are dealing with perils and troubles all their own that are being thrown at them by the house. They're trying to get back to you or just get out of the place they've been taken to within the house! Just how will both the guardian and the Forgotten and daemon handle being terrorized by the house itself? ???
