In FFVII or AC? In FFVII he took it after Zack was shot and killed. In AC, I'm not sure. xp

Yeah, Cloud's buster sword was originally Zack's before he died. So, I'm pretty sure he took it from Zack when his memory turned to that of Zack's.

Yeah, he got it from Zack. It was originally his, and it's why Cloud used it as a marker for either Zack's grave or simply where Zack died.

Yep! You're right DrakeWurrum, Cloud got the buster sword from Zack, but now that Zack is dead and the buster sword is kinda... well... busted up... he uses it as a marker for where Zack died.
The AC design is a completely new design. Its never been used before and as they made the movie they just thought it went well with what happens and it looks cool during the last battle.
Spoiler (for those who haven't seen the movie yet)
Especially when he uses it against Sephiroth in the final battle with the new Omnislash and all. And when he's on the wall and pops that one out of the sword just by stepping it. GAWD!! THAT'S SO FREAKING AWSOME!! xd

well of course it would weigh like a ton (kidding) its a 2 handed sword and yes his sword is cool but i like Lions sword better and it came from zach when he died
