8voices What is it about SOAD that got you interested and then why you still listen and like them now? w00t first post!! back on subject, i started liking them when i heard BYOB on the radio. when i saw the music video i was hooked, and i found out everything i could about them... and i listened to other songs and crap and i still love them.

First I heard them was in the Toxicity era.
My mom said they were too hardcore for me.
And, now look at me...I LOVE them.

My best friend's sister listened to them about 3 months after Toxicity came out, so I would listen to it over there.
The next school year, I got the CD burned from somebody else, but I've been a fan since either 2001 or 2002. (:
Why am I hooked? Pfft. Why wouldn't I be hooked? XP

I watched the Chop Suey video in fourth grade, and I was all, "Wow, that guy kinda looks like Luigi." I was thinking that Serj looked like Luigi from Mario Bros. Daron terrified me a bit. He was jumping around and jumping out of Serj's body and screaming! Of course, this was from before I was really allowed to watch MTV, so I had to watch it when my mom was busy doing something. I liked the part when Serj was eating Chinese food.
One day, on the morning ride to school, I heard somebody was blasting Chop Suey from their headphones. I listened to it, and I had chills, the good kind of chills, you know? "Luigi's" voice was so different than, say, Nickelback and Linkin Park (the two favorite "rock" bands of my elementary school.) and I listened every morning for that song...
One day, my mom said they were a Christian band. I was thinking then, "Heeey, maybe my grandma wouldn't hate them."
We were so wrong. biggrin

lol...that was a nice story.. ^^
i started listening to'em when i first heard "Spiders".......and "Aerials" is the one that impressed me alot...I dont like the movie of it being with an alien kid but i like the part when they start screaming and all that...it was soo awsome..it made my palms sweat...xD

I recieved mezmerize as a birthday gift, but I didn't really listen to it untill I watched their Saturday Night Live performance.
After that I listened to it over and over again untill Hypnotize was released.
Tuesday november 22 I bought Hypnotize and Toxicity.
A few weeks later I bought Steal this Album and I ordered the self titled album because my local music store didn't have it in the shop.
About a week after that I picked up the album and now I'm semi obsessed.

System of a down, for me, was like a breath of fresh air in the in the fog of meaningless money making music. when I heard spiders I was entranced, and I've loved them ever since. heart

Violent Pornography was the first song that I heard from System Of A Down. I liked them after that and then my friend asked me If I liked System Of A Down and I was unsure of what band she was referring to until she said Violent Pornography and then I got all excited and said yes. I went home that day and looked them up. I stayed up till 12:30 at night waiting to hear them play on our radio station. I caught Question twice and I loved every second of Serj and Darons screams and the awesome fast paced guitar and...*sigh* fell in love. Later on in the year I got Hypnotize the day it came out and then a month after that I got Mezmerize, then Toxicity, then the debut, then STA!... Im a huge fan of System Of A Down.

Er...I think it was Toxicity.
But, anyway, I like System because, they're diffrent...Their music, lyrics, views, and....everything. Their whole '******** the Mainstream' views and outspoken attitude. And, the fact they make music for the music! Not for money! That is what I love about them. <3 I like how they've broken the cycle of most s**t that is American's Mainstream music... They've made something new, and, I like the fact they are nothing like most shitty bands (coughgreendaygoodcharlottehawthorneheightsuncough)
They're music isn't a repitition of itself, everything sounding diffrent. <3 And, they've rekindled my interest in music. I thank System...and, I'd probably tell them so myself if I ever meet them...

When I first heard them, I was watching the video for Chop Suey with my older brother when I was 7.It was funny when we looked up the lyrics for it, we were like: confused .
Then last year, I got back into SOAD.I saw B.Y.O.B. and didn't even know it was the same band. lol
