Kakashi...I mean, Gaara's got his sand, but outside of that...nothing much. He doesn't seem to have amazing analytical abilities or anything, and Kakashi has copied a thousand jutsus plus created his own...he has to have something that would work against Gaara (especially since we already know chidori can injure him even in his tanuki state...)
...plus, even though Gaara became Kazekage at 13, Kakashi became a chuunin at about 6 (when he nominated team 7 for the chuunin exam I believe he told Iruka that he became a chuunin when he was 7 years younger than Naruto...), and by his early twenties has already been an ANBU (I think in the american version they call them "black ops"), and a jounin long enough to gather quite a bit of experience.
If nothing else Kakashi could out think Gaara, and would probably have enough power to defeat him anyway...Gaara stepped straight from genin to Kazekage...his maturity level is probably still at genin...
