● Research is a good Rememdy: Patience is a sponge when it comes to knowledge. Once she reads it, it becomes stored within her mind and something she can easily remember.
● Close Combat: Because of her ability to soak in knowledge, she has learned close combat with a few different weapons and though she prefers her dagger, she isn't horrible with other weapons.
● Singing: Being the daughter of a siren, Patience has a talent for singing. She hates to sing in front of others though. If you listen, you can hear her singing throughout the ship on a calm night.

Personality ● Patience has always been an open mind, willing to learn new things and eager to figure them out. From an early age, she was forced to be older than she was, never given the chance to be what she was... a child. At sixteen, she has seen more sorrow, grief, and loss than most girls her age would endure. Though she has grown rather numb to loss, losing to many people in her life to care.
Not that it changes who she is, keeping her kind demeanor, eager to help people who have a future. She has a vendetta against most men, most men in her life causing pain and suffering wherever.
Since the coop of the ship, Patience has vowed unwavering loyalty to Akantha and refuses to give in to anyone who offers her a new life. Akantha saved her... why would she throw that away?

● Speed Reading: Patience has a knack for breezing through a book rather quickly. She enjoys her hobby so why not be good at it?
● Her voice: In dire circumstance, Patience can use her voice to suede most people into doing something or not doing something.

● Stubborness: Patience hates being proven wrong about anything, so she will stubbornly cling to her beliefs so long as there is proof.

Biography
● The youngest of three… Patience was born into not great conditions. Her parents, an ex noble from the merfolk pod and a servant had been banished just before her birth for marrying while he was still wed to someone else. With two children already between them. His daughter and her son, they were pleasantly surprised to find she was pregnant with their third child (though the child's father was not who they thought). The pregnancy was smooth, and the birth easy. But it was all downhill from there. Her brother grew ill on land, his body unable to cope with the change. By her third birthday, he passed. Her sister, a proud person, grew distant from her family, eventually leaving them to regain her position in the pod. Patience however, was never more loved than when she was with her parents.
Five years they lived in their little cabin, making due with what they could. Patience had a knack for knowledge, learning to read at a young age. Her parents, seeing the potential in their daughter, spent their extra money to buy her any book they could. By age of eight, she could read more than her parents combined. Just after her birthday however, her life changed drastically. She had been out in the ocean, swimming and looking for new treasures all day. Coming home, she found it ransacked and a group of men forcing her parents from their home. She instinctively tried to hide but was easily found, being brought to join her parents. She clung to her mother, watching as her father was accused of thievery, a nobleman singling him out due to him being a merman. Her father, without a trial, was sentenced to death and hung near to remind others what happened to thieves.
Patience and her mother were then taken by the nobleman, kept in his home, her mother his servant until she was thirteen. They were then sold in a bet to a pirate Captain. When the Captain saw her mother however, he was unaware she had a child. Working with this, her mother as well as the crew kept Patience hidden, keeping her entertained by fueling her love of knowledge. Taking turns, they would steal books and give them to the girl who soaked in the words on the pages. Just after two years on board, Patience had to bid farewell to her mother, the older mermaid dying of the same illness that claimed her brother at such a young age.
Alone now, Patience gave up reading, preferring to be alone and doing nothing than to give in to her want for more knowledge. She learned as she stayed alone that she had her mother’s talent… Patience had the voice of a Siren, a melodious tune from her lips could send any sailor to their doom. She had planned, wanting to leave the ship and rejoin her pod. She was almost successful in doing this… until the Captain came across her trying to escape and accused her of fleeing her duties. He planned to punish her, not realizing she was not actually one of the girls he had trained.
Just as he was about to have his way, she was saved. The first mate, a woman by the name of Akantha had stepped in, asking the Captain to leave Patience be, so she could be trained. Patience escaped, the crew doing their best to calm her when it was revealed the Captain was gone. Patience revelled in the fact that she was free… Free from the life she had been dragged into.
Now, she is a deckhand and the resident brains to the Suitor’s Thorn, having been given a small bedroom on deck where she kept her belongings, mostly books given to her by the crew or that she has bought. Pledging her loyalty to Akantha, she refuses to leave now.
