"I'm not literally made of paper, so I'll gladly join you." Rieyar replied with a pleased smile. "Please be careful. I'd hate to see you show up at the hospital before we get a chance to relax." They said as they cracked open a book that had been sitting with their things. "I have some studying to finish up, but I'll probably be doing my rounds if you need me." And with that the medic was buried in their studies again, affording Hisoka ample opportunity to be on her way without a fuss.

      The 'Big' Boss

As soon as Rikimaru and the ragtag group of snot-nosed kids he got caught up with returned to the academy, they were instructed to learn techniques - the part of the class day they missed by playing hooky. The panda was not pleased with this, lying on the ground defiantly, until something inside of his body started acting up. His torso began to expand suddenly, becoming a ball as his arms and legs were tucked into his body. He could hear some of the students laughing at his ballooned state as he rolled around uncontrollably. [ Human Bullet Tank : : Learned ]

Rikimaru had no idea what was wrong with him, and began to wonder if it was due to the shot that those crooked scientist had given him. With a frustrated sigh, he deflated back to his normal panda body. Glaring at one of the children who were still laughing (mainly because of the sputtering noise that occurred during his deflation), he turned to face them and shook his fist at them. "Oh yeah? Think that's funny, do ya? I oughta... Woah!" If his heavy Brooklyn accent wasn't intimidating enough, maybe the sudden expansion of his limb would. His arm lengthened, slamming his enlarged, closed fist into the kid's body making him cry. [ Partial Multi-Size Technique : : Learned ]

Should teach ya not to laugh at me. He didn't mean to do it, but the kid had it coming. Luckily his arm returned to normal before any of the teachers caught on to what was happening. Still he ran outside to the back of the classroom, running to the trees nearby. Had the teachers thought to look for him, Rikimaru tried to make it as difficult as possible by hiding his scent and his tracks. He'd peer out from the tree line from time to time to see if anyone was following after him, but luckily for him, no one came. [ Beast Musk : : Learned ]

The panda didn't really want to be here at all, and was angry with the kids that he ran into, who got him into this situation to begin with. All he wanted to do was get revenge on those crooks for nabbing his brother, and rescue him. This dumb school wasn't going to do anything about that. The claws on his paws started to lengthen in frustration, and then he proceeded to make claw marks into some of the trees, ripping bark and chunks of wood from their trunks. [ Unstable Evolution : : Learned ]

He could hear the lady who was supposed to be his teacher giving instructions on a technique, and decided to sneak up to the window to listen. If he was going to be stuck here, he might as well try to follow along with the rest of the class. She was giving instructions on how to use the Release technique, that was often used to expel genjutsu. By expanding his own chakra throughout his body as instructed, had there been any foreign chakra influencing him, he'd be able to negate it. [ Release (Kai) : : Learned ]

Maybe learning things from this class wouldn't be so bad after all. Some of the things that Rikimaru was learning could be useful in saving his brother and exerting his dominance over this city. He peered through the window, eyeing his teacher with obvious lust and scrutiny. Embedding her curvaceous figure into his memory, his paws came together to form a hand seal, his furry body suddenly concealed in a plume of smoke. As the smoke cleared, his once furry visage had taken on the mirror image of his teacher. [ Transformation Technique : : Learned ]

He strutted into the classroom in his new form, swaying his hips seductively and making his teacher look like a complete harlot. His teacher was at a loss for words, while her assistant was practically drooling over Rikimaru's impression of her. He began continuing the lesson, speaking about nothing related to the lesson at all, but instead telling the kids stories about what he (as in the teacher) liked to do for fun after school. Rikimaru began crawling up the wall like a wildcat as he continued his story, his teacher redder than a tomato at this point. [ Art of Walking on Walls : : Learned ]

The teacher couldn't reach him now, or at least, she was so embarrassed that she forgot that she could use the very same technique he just learned to catch him. His story was getting really saucy now, the teacher responding by trying to yell over him, in an attempt to protect the poor, innocent children's ears from his vulgarity. Once he reached the ceiling, the skirt he was wearing fell to his torso, exposing himself (aka, the teacher) to everyone. This part wasn't intended, and in a state of shock he fell from the wall, substituting himself with a chair as he made contact with the ground. [ Substitution Technique : : Learned ]

The children were either laughing, eerily silent, or exclaiming in shock while the assistant was deep in their own fantasies. The teacher however, was furious and began approaching Rikimaru to put him in time out. The panda wouldn't make it easy for her, producing a clone of himself to confuse her, as he ran around the classroom, causing a big ruckus. Children were screaming and laughing; chairs, tables, and books being knocked around as Rikimaru lead his extremely embarrassed teacher on a wild panda goose chase. [ Clone Technique : : Learned ]

After messing up the classroom, and causing chaos in the learning environment, Rikimaru lead the teacher to the outside area in the back of the classroom. She was so focused on catching him, that she left her own students pretty much unattended, with an assistant who was all but useful, deep in his fantasies regarding the teacher's panties. The students were running wild inside of the classroom, and Rikimaru ran on all fours across the small pond, applying chakra to his feet to run across the surface. The teacher on the other hand was too caught up in her emotions to do so otherwise, and ended up falling in the pond. [ Act of Walking on Water : : Learned ]

Splash! The teacher came up from beneath the surface, revealing her wet body and the furious expression on her pretty face. Rikimaru took a moment to admire her now exposed undergarments and cleavage due to her soaked clothes, before leaping into her chest and tackling her back into the pond. Bounding off of her chest like a trampoline, he was back on dry land, sticking the landing with a flourish. "Tada!" The classroom erupted with laughter, cheers, and crying of all sorts, while the panda's body seemingly vanished in thin air among the chaos. "See ya never, nerds!" A hearty cackle faded into the distance as the disruptive panda escaped the confines of his educational prison. [ Body Flicker Technique : : Learned ]

Tsukiko had spent most of her time growing up in the lessons and teachings of the elite. Coming from wealth and money, she was able to afford the best training in her destiny to become one of the Lightning Empire's strongest soldiers. This involved personal tutoring in counters to ninja techniques like genjutsu. "Kai...", she said softly, as Tsukiko trained in the training yard. She was making sure she got a grasp on the skill. It wasn't particularly difficult at this stage in her training, and honestly, the demonstration was more of a formality for the approval of her instructors to sign off on her readiness to enter service to the nobles.

Quote:
[Learned Kai]

The next up on Tsukiko's demonstrations was the ability to transform her appearance. As she considered her lessons and prepared herself for the task. She could not help but find the effort trivial. For one of her breeding and caliber, she would be a fine kunoichi, but now she was going to be a far more lethal soldier. Still, with a sign of her hands, she transformed her appearance into that of her instructor, which got a nod of approval. It was a sufficient display of all she had studied on the matter.

Quote:
[Learned Henge no Jutsu]

After switching her appearance back to normal, Tsukiko then began the next task in her demonstrations and learning. The Clone Jutsu, a common skill that was used more as a distraction than anything. It was a basis for a lot of different techniques, but still a little bit beneath her skill, at least in her mind. Crossing her fingers and focusing her energy, she produced the duplicate image of herself, and even performed a series of strikes so her instructor could see how she controlled it. It was safe to say she had learned the jutsu effectively enough to move on to the next one.

Tsukiko Yukimoto was continuing her final parts of the training exercise before graduation. This included the demonstration of her skills as an eventual soldier of the Imperial lands by mastering several ninja arts. The Substitution Technique was next on the list. Having studied the arts of chakra replacement and shifting her position with one object to take the hit for her, she was confident in her ability to do this. As her proctor threw a shuriken at her, Tsuki made a hand seal and shifted her position with the sand-bag target as she was supposed to. It was a process that was repeated three times before she got a sign off on her transcript.

Quote:
[Learned Substitution Technique]

After the exercise in substitution, it came to the more important parts of Tsukiko's graduation training exams. Mobility was a soldier's most vital asset next to their own strength. So in order to prove she was able to take combat to the ninja she was likely to face in the Empire's demand for expansion and protection of it's own lands, the winter soldier stepped foot onto the training pond and began to walk across the surface. This was accomplished by evenly distributing the chakra to the bottoms of her feet, relative to the water's surface.

Quote:
[Learned Art of Walking on Water]

Though, after she effectively demonstrated the ability to walk on water, Tsukiko had another task before the hardest part of her demonstrations. The ability to walk up walls and vertical surfaces was another mobility tactic employed by her eventual shinobi enemies. To the approval of the proctor overseeing her training, Tsuki accomplished the technique. The process was simple compared to walking on water. Her feet simply took applied chakra and used them to adhere and grip to the vertical surface she was walking up, which in this case just so happened to be a wall on the Academy building.

Quote:
[Learned Art of Walking on Walls]

Tsukiko was coming to the last of the basic ninja skills she would need to demonstrate outside of her own elemental proficiency. The Shunshin no Jutsu. It was a skill that separated the trainees from the soldiers. As her proctor looked on, Tsuki took a deep breath and then exhaled. With this act, she pushed chakra from beneath the soles of her feet and kicked forward, flashing away a few feet in the blink of an eye. The high speed movement was impressive enough, but more importantly was the approval of her instructor. "Just a little more left...", she sighed out in determination. Nothing seemed to be ready to stand in her way of achieving her dream of bringing fame and glory to herself and her family.

Quote:
[Learned Body Flicker Technique]

A deep sigh exhaled from her lips as Tsukiko began the elemental proficiency demonstration. She had a Bloodline Limit, or Kekkai Genkai, ability bred into her like most of everyone from the Land of Snow. Hyouton or Ice Manipulation was a key aspect of that talent, though most anyone from Snow had the ability to manipulate water or wind in some manner, this was unique. Focusing on her chakra manipulation and blending. She aimed a hand forward and gathered the ambient moisture in the air before she released it in a burst, creating a patch of ice the size of a puddle before her.

Quote:
[Learned Ice Release]

Tsukiko was not finished with her display of her kekkai-genkai. She also had plans to demonstrate its offense, not just the ability to mold the chakra nature. The proctor instructor seemed to be pleased already, as such an advanced chakra nature display was something to set her ahead of the other graduate candidates. With another burst and molding of the ice elemental chakras. Tsukiko formed a snowball, and projected it at a nearby tree. It was a supplemental technique, mostly used for concealing kunai to trick an opponent into getting hit by a seemingly harmless ball of snow.

Quote:
[Learned Snowball]

Last of her demonstrations was the Projectile Control Technique. It was a Wind Style jutsu used to manipulate thrown projectiles. While it might seem simple or gimmicky at best, the skill would allow for trick-shots, and that was what was most important in a fight. She was going to be fighting shinobi around the world and at home, so being able to use their own tricks against them was going to be vital. After demonstrating it, by throwing a kunai, and then using her wind-style to adjust its flight pattern to hit the bull's-eye of the target, not once, but twice...the proctor signed off on her papers. Now all that remained was her mission credits.

Masanori arrived at the academy, not because he wanted to be here - no, all of the instructors here were well aware of that - but because he needed to be. At least that was what he told himself. In truth it was for two reasons: to ease the regret of not enrolling with his sister when he had the chance, and this was his official starting point towards trying to find her. The instructors left the young Hatake alone as he silently read a scroll in the corner of the classroom, aware of the unfortunate circumstances of Noriko Hatake, and how they have affected the family. Masanori was studying the concept of the Kai technique, the primary defense for breaking out of genjutsu, by manipulating one's flow of chakra.

      tab ▰ Learned: Kai
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

The Henge technique was next on the list to learn, a simple transformation ability with the use of chakra. Masanori practiced managing the flow of his chakra, until he could successfully increase its volume enough to cover his entire body. He wasn't exactly sure how the 'transformation' part of the technique worked, so he focused on his thoughts tuning them towards his desired transformation. In a sudden plume of smoke, the boy was turned into a dog. He took no time to examine the transformation or anything before another cloud of smoke appeared, reverting himself back to his normal self.

tab ▰ Learned: Henge no Jutsu
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

Rather than turning oneself into something else, this technique simply replicated the individual who casted the technique multiple times. The bunshin technique being the most basic skill for creating clones. Masanori performed the required hand seal for the technique, remembering to control the flow of his chakra, but this time attempting to separate it from him in equal portions. The clones held no real substance to them and were almost, if not exactly that, imaginary. However, he successfully created exact replicas of himself, which was the entire point of the technique.

tab ▰ Learned: Bunshin no Jutsu
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

While he was practicing his clone technique, there were some other smaller kids a bit several feet from him tossing books at each other. Masanori paid no mind to them, for most of the students here were nearly half his age if not younger. That was one of the consequences to joining the academy much later than he should have. One of the books flew past the opposing kid as he ducked to dodge it, ramming the young Hatake in the back of the head. Before the kids could apologize, he had replaced himself with a nearby chair, now walking towards the kids with an intense glare in his eyes. A teacher quickly intervened before he could get close to do any harm, urging him back to his corner to study.

      tab ▰ Learned: Substitution Technique
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

Masanori allowed himself to cool off by heading outside of the academy to get some fresh air, as well as peace and quite from the rowdy children inside. It would also give him some time to practice chakra flow to his feet, so that he could learn how to walk on water properly. The first couple attempts ended up with wet feet, for the young Hatake was still having trouble focusing while dealing with his frustration from the earlier incident still. Once he was fully calmed down, he focused chakra into the bottoms of his feet and walked across the small pond, feeling no different than if he was walking on the ground.

tab ▰ Learned: Art of Walking on Water
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

Once he walked across the entire length of the pond and his feet returned to solid ground, the chakra forming around his feet dissipated. The challenge for that technique was walking on a liquid surface that had a tendency to ripple and wave. He wondered how challenging walking vertically could be, where he'd need to apply enough chakra to adhere himself to the surface while dealing with the forces of gravity and his own weight. Masanori applied chakra to his feet once more, starting by raising one leg and planting his foot on the tree ahead of him. Once he felt like the step was secure, he followed with the second, alternating feet until he was walking up to the branches of the tree.

tab ▰ Learned: Art of Walking on Walls
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

A few steps later, he was within the branches of the large tree, leaves rustling loudly in response to the vibrations his movements now caused. He carefully walked back down the length of the tree until he was on the ground, and put his focus towards the next technique he was going to learn. Shunshin, a technique revolved around quick sudden movement to a location known to the caster. He just made it to the top of the tree, so he figured that would be a great end point for practicing the shunshin technique. The first few times he ended up running right into the trunk of the tree, or only making it nearly halfway up before painfully skidding down. The speed at which he was moving was new for him, taking Masanori some time to adjust before he was able to make it to the top of the tree in a single sudden movement.

tab ▰ Learned: Body Flicker Technique
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

He was still adjusting to the speed of the previous technique when he happened to look down. His tonfa sticks that were usually strapped to his back had fallen during his travel, now down on the ground at the base of the tree. Masanori didn't know why he did it, perhaps it was pure instinct... he extended his hand towards the fallen tonfa sticks. Where they supposed to just appear in his palm as if he possessed some powerful force ability. No, that wasn't what he had expected, but the wisps of electricity that now surrounded his weapons surprised him otherwise. They connected all the way from the weapons to his palms, and with a slight painful jolt that he could feel in his entire arm, the tonfa traveled to his palm, flying through the air.

tab ▰ Learned: Call of Lightning
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

Even as he reached the base of the tree, returning to ground level, he could still feel a slight tingle in his arm. It wasn't particularly painful as it had been just moments ago, however it was still distracting. He needed to mitigate these kinds of inconveniences if he were to continue using the lightning element, which he had an extremely high affinity for. Masanori continued practicing his Call of Lightning technique in order to grow accustom to the backlashes of using such a powerful element. Eventually he built up enough resistance to where those minor shocks no longer bothered him anymore, and he'd be able to learn more techniques without hindrance.

tab ▰ Learned: Electrical Resistance Training
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

To put his newfound resistance training into practice, Masanori would kill two birds with one stone by improving on the cloning technique he had learned moments ago. By adding the lightning element into his clone creations, they'd have more substance and unique effects. Putting his previous learning to the test, he molded his chakra into the lightning element, splitting it from his own body. An exact replica was created, arcs of electricity fading as the cloned Masanori fully formed. After some time later, it dispersed into a bolt of lightning. The young Hatake examined the clone during its time before expiration, taking note of the electrical qualities it possessed while using physical attacks.

      tab ▰ Learned: Lightning Clone
tab ▰ Mission Completed: Academic Studies

Some time later, the class session had ended for the day and many of the younger students were leaving with their parents. Masanori was pulled aside by one of the teachers, who tried to talk with him about his condition after his sister's incident. The boy didn't respond, instead turning to leave despite the teacher's protest. Masanori was not one to explain his feelings to people, and he certainly didn't feel like talking about anything related to his sister right now, unless it had something to do with her being found. “Yamaiiiii!” A young woman walked through the wooden halls of a communal house. She called out to one of her tenants, a Kemono Shinzo that recently moved in. “Yamai, aren’t you awake yet?” The woman knocked on the entrance to the canine girl’s living space. “Come on lazy bones, it’s nearly mid day.” The woman, while teasing with her words, would give Yamai a smile. “Well, if you’re just now getting up, it’s a good thing I made some food for you, too. But on one condition.”

The lady brought out two small bento boxes from behind her back. “Could you run Aria her lunch? She forgot it again on her way to the University. She was saying something about new information on some sword, but she talks at a million miles a minute when she’s excited.” The homeowner sighed and continued. “Anyway, maybe you two could have lunch together. But make sure she eats it! You know how she can get about food when she’s focused.”

As she heard somebody shouting her name, the girl would mutter in her sleep, moving the pillow over her head while letting out a frustrated growl at whoever was coming. A pounding on the door came soon after, where she would sigh in exasperation. "I'm coming..." she grunted back and getting out of bed. Yamai was dressed in her usual clothing from before, her large tails swaying left and right while gently sliding the door open to meet the woman smiling at her. The wolf girl let out a soft yawn while listening to her caretaker having made food for her. Yamai had always appreciated the work she put into making sure everyone was taken care of. "You're too kind." the wolf girl said, collecting the bento boxes that had been given to her. The delicious scents of the food would drive the canine girl crazy as her instincts told her to eat everything that was given to her though her human mind was holding back such ideas.

"I can deliver her lunch." Yamai said plainly. She wasn't good with people yet despite living among them. As such, she found it somewhat hard to connect with others. How could one connect with others when they had been trained from birth not to get attached to material things? Her tail swung idly, hitting the side of her leg as she'd look out towards the University. Yamai tried to smile at the landlord the best she could while then grabbing her late sister's bow and hanging it on her person before nodding towards her homeowner. "Leave it to me. I'll keep an eye on her." she said, hurrying off for a bit but stopping as something in her chest would disturb her. The wolf girl wasn't sure what it could be but would close her eyes and turn back around towards the woman. "Th-Thank you again. For everything that you do. It means a lot." Yamai didn't stay to feel any more awkward and ran forward towards the university with her bento boxes. Large paws in the ground while she jogged over towards the place for higher learning.

Upon arrival, Yamai would begin the search around for her target. "Aria?" she called out, looking all around for the other girl whose lunch she was tasked with delivering.

“Hmmmm.” Aria pursed her lips thoughtfully as she stared at the object before her. Splayed on a table was one of the Legendary Seven Swords, Hiramekarei. Or, well… half of it. “Poor thing, what happened to the rest of you?” The girl gently traced her fingers of the flat blade as she spoke to the weapon. Aria came to Kusogumo University to study mythology, but never in her life would she have thought she’d be staring at a real life legend. When her professor offered the opportunity, the girl had literally jumped at the chance. The craftsmanship of the blade, despite its age, was impeccable. Whatever Hiramekarei was made out of, it was certainly strong enough to withstand decades of time and battle.

Aria wondered what the material that comprised the blade was made of. Part of why Hiramekarei was a subject of interest was to find out if the Lightning Empire could mass forge something like it. And after the most recent Jashinist attack, the Origami clan member couldn’t blame them. “But how could they ever dream of replicating such beauty?” Aria thought aloud. She waved her hand, motioning for something to come towards her. Surrounding the young student were pieces of paper, floating around her almost like a barrier. The student removed one of these pieces of paper gently and looked over it thoughtfully.

“While the blade contains various trace elements that we’re familiar with, the main component seems to be an alloy, though nothing with its specific make up has been recorded in the university library.” She narrated, writing out her thoughts on the paper. “Try to trace the origin location of the Seven Swords for possible answers.” She finished, releasing the sheet of paper back into the air. “That’s easier said than done.” She sighed as a wave of exhaustion hit her.

It was then something startled her. Aria let out a yelp and jumped as she heard the door to the lecture hall open. While she wasn’t expecting any visitors, the scholar soon realized who was with her. “Oh hey Miss Magami! What brings you all the way out here?” Aria greeted cheerfully with a bow. With a wave she moved the floating pieces of paper into a single stack. The canine woman’s answers surprised the young student. “Oh thank you sooooo much, I must’ve forgotten my lunch this morning. Miss Mei is always so diligent, I have no idea where I’d be without her! Or you, Miss Magami!” The green haired girl chuckled and rubbed the back of her head as she accepted the bento. “Give me a second, and we can go eat lunch together okay?”

Aria went back long enough to put hale of Hiramekarei back into its secure container. The blade was so heavy that she had to lift it with both arms. How anyone was expected to wield this thing with one hand was beyond her. Once that was done, Aria led the two of them to their lunch location: a spot on the roof of the University that overlooked most of Kumoito. “So Miss Magami, what’ve you been up to today? Any cool stories today?” She asked the Kemono Shinzo with wonder in her eyes. Miss Magami was always so quiet, which made Aria feel this air of mystery around the woman. She had secrets to tell, she was sure of it!

"I didn't mean to scare you, Aria." she said, walking forward towards the studious neighbor of hers. The gift Aria had with paper fit her bookwormish personality, the canine's eyes watching as the stack of papers before her would be stacked on the desk just as neat as it likely had been before she had been so rudely interrupted. The timid girl would ask her what she had wanted to barge in and scare the poor lass. "Miss Mei wanted me to give this to you." Yamai said bluntly, handing over Aria's bento box to her while holding one of her own. The canine's tail waved back and forth at the reception that she had gotten for delivering the very important parcel to the student. "She is very nice." Yamai nodded her head while watching the other girl scurry about to get everything done so that she could enjoy a meal. The weapon that she had seemed to be studying was massive, so much for her to carry it with both hands. The wolf girl was about to turn around and leave before she would bring up the topic of sharing lunch time together. Yamai froze on the spot.

"T-Together?" she repeated. "I don't want to disturb you or anything. I don't mind if you."

And just some precious minutes later, Yamai would be sitting by Aria on the roof of the University, eating their bento boxes in peace. The concept was still very new to the wolf girl, whose past meals had all been finger food in every meaning of the word. Using chopsticks was anything but aggravating for the girl, who would be awkwardly looking to her meal then back at Aria with small intervals between shifts in focus. They sat on a rooftop that would showcase the rest of Kumoito. Aria asked the wolf girl about what she had been doing, leaving Yamai to scramble to think of an answer. "Nothing yet today." A brief pause came between them as she'd swallow what bit of food was inside of her mouth, bringing ample time to think about what the conversation could be brought to. "I spent this morning practicing my archery again. I'm getting better." Another pause, ears twitching as her mind would go into overdrive about how to escape this awkward moment.

"What kind of weapon are you studying?" Yamai asked the excitable girl. "I didn't take you to be one for large weapons."

                                                                                  OOC NOTES [x]

"Whoaaaaa, that sounds so cool!” Aria’s eyes lit up as Yamai talked to her about her archery. “I think archery is so beautiful, to be honest. It’s such an elegant form, and a style that betrays the strength you need to be good at it.” The paper girl sighed wistfully. “I’m not really strong enough to do anything like that, sadly. I’d love to watch you practice sometime, Yamai!” There was silence after that. Aria didn’t know the canine girl very well, but she knew enough that the woman liked to keep to herself. So the scholar didn’t push, and instead took the chance to eat and admire the view of Kumoito. It was a nice city. Aria’s own home, while not exactly hard on the eyes, didn’t contain as much beauty as the Lightning Empire. Being set up high above the clouds, most of the landscape that Aria was from was covered in white.

“Hm?” Yamai’s question pulled Aria from her daydreaming. She blinked and looked back at the Kemono Shinzo. “Oh! The sword! So that’s one of the Seven Legendary Swords, Hiramekarei!” She answered proudly, before blushing as something occurred to her. “Er, well… half of it anyway. It’s a powerful weapon that can change its shape with the flow of chakra from the user. No-one knows where the Swords even came from, since they’ve been distributed pretty widely over the world through the course of history. But the University wants me to find the origin of these Swords. I think they want to try and recreate it or something.” She looked off to the distance thoughtfully. “With the Jashinist attack on the Citadel last month, I can understand why. But there’s so much history to these Swords, and it gets overlooked for its combat potential.”

Aria sighed again but then smiled. “I think it would be cool if I can find, like, an ancient civilization or something lost to time since there’s no record of their creation.”

"You think it's cool?" Yamai seemed a little surprised that such a bookworm would find archery interesting in anyway. It was fairly intricate art, not one that many people would ever think of when it came to bow and arrows. So hearing from this from the girl made Yamai at least feel a bit warmer towards her. Maybe sometime she could show off a bit for Aria if she was so impressed by such feats. "Maybe...It would be nice to show you it." Yamai smiled a little and went back to eating her food. She was so hungry but absolutely hated the sound of listening to herself eat. She grew annoyed at the silence between the two of them but felt unable to solve this awkward period between them. The wolf huffed and continued to eat while internally kicking herself. Aria was so chipper and full of life and here she was being about as good a conversation partner as the wall behind them.

The conversation soon turned to the weapon that she was inspecting as Aria spun a tale about the sword she was working on. It brought some much needed relief from the lengthy period of silence that both people had experienced. Listening to her gush about what a find she was working with brought a smile to the canine's face. Aria really did care about what she loved and it showed. It was strange how a legendary sword such as this ended up in a place like Kumoito but who was this wolf to judge? "It sounds like you really want to know everything about the sword." Yamai said while standing up after she cleaned out her bento box and stretching. While doing so, if Aria listened keenly, she'd listen to the girl let out a soft whine. Just a part of being wolf like. "It's nice seeing you so happy like this." She wanted to offer her services but didn't know if this would be anything that a wolf with a bow could offer. Yamai hesitated for a moment or so, her willpower feigned thus far beginning to dwindle more and more. After another few seconds of silence, the wolf looked back to Aria. "I could help you with things. If you'd like. I'm not doing anything. So it would make the job easier."

                                                                                  OOC NOTES [x]

“Yeah! I feel like this sword is going to be important some day. Like, involved in something big you know?” Aria’s eyes glistened like stars as she spoke. “Something like that is bound to make history, and I’m gonna be there to see it! Just the thought of it gives me goosebumps!” Aria shivered and rubbed her arms. The young girl couldn’t help but daydream of the possibilities as she ate her food. The girl didn’t even notice Yamai’s silence. It wasn’t until the wolf woman said something that Aria was pulled back to the world of the living.

“Hm? Oh, thank you! I think it might be a good idea for a break, actually.” The scholar rose to her feet. She stretched her hands up high above her head with a small grunt, even popping some joints in her shoulder. “I’ve been at it since yesterday, so maybe a break might do me some good.” Aria giggled and held a hand down to Yamai. “Wanna come see the town with me, Yamai?”

I'll help you get there however I can." Sure it might be a fool's gambit, but if Aria clearly was so infatuated with the sword, who was Yamai to really prevent her from doing what she so loved. Maybe it would give Yamai some kind of purpose. Her invitation to assist with the sword was taken in full, with the wolf's tail waving back and forth in delight. Aria might have known that it showed the wolf's mood, even when she failed to understand it herself at times. Yamai finished with her food shortly after her friend. She remained seated, eyes locked onto the scholar as she asked if she wanted to see the town. Crowded places had always caused her to be on guard. Call it a natural instinct that wasn't going anywhere from the years of experience. But Yamai would shake her head and reach out to place her hand in Aria's, her soft fur brushing against the girl's.

"I would love to." Yamai nodded and stood up from her seat. Her tail swayed back and forth in a blur. It even brushed against Aria from time to time, though Yamais stoic face would wince. "Sorry. Being human...or less than it is still new to me. I'd shift to that way, but it's still not perfect. Guess I'll never be one of you."

                                                                                  OOC NOTES [x]

"I don't get it, it's too hard!" The young girl groans loudly from her spot sitting on the floor, rocking so she's lying down, facing towards the ceiling. "Can we do something else? Pleeeeeease?" Her grey eyes turned pleadingly to the man now standing above her, and yet his voice was still as patient as ever as he responded. "Aren't you the one who asked me to teach you this in the first place, little one?" A long, fluffy tail swishes through the air behind him, the girl's eyes tracking it as he speaks. "Now come on Salem, let's try again. I know you can do it. You have a talent for it, you just need to work on your patience."

"Ugh, but I didn't know it would be so hard though." The praise did, however, have the intended effect. Salem sat back up, crossing her legs again and shifting into a more comfortable position."But I guess I'll give it another try," she mumbles, pouting adorably. Unbothered, her teacher rolled his eyes exaggeratedly before turning towards another pair of students to go and assist them. "You'll get it in no time kid, I believe in you. Tiny yet mighty right?"

"It's tiny and mighty!" Salem yelled at her teacher's retreating back. He only chuckled at her indignant tone though, his powerful voice filling the room with his laughter. Salem harrumphed, crossing her arms, and after a few more moments of feeling indignant eventually settled into a form of relaxation. Closing her eyes, she tries with all her might to shut out the world around her.

It was surprisingly hard, to think of nothing. No matter what Salem tried, thoughts would come to her head unbidden, or her leg would begin jumping up and down out of boredom. This time, she attempted a different approach. Rather than trying to empty her mind of all thoughts completely, she instead focused on tiny, insignificant things, hoping that doing so would cause even those boring thoughts to fade away.

First, it was the weight of the armor on her small frame. It had been surprisingly difficult to find some in a size small enough, as she was just a child, but now that she had it on it felt... reassuring, almost. In fact, despite her small size, it didn't hinder her movements at all. It just made her feel safe... protected. Much like...

A small, tiny weight landed on her leg, making Salem jump a bit out of shock and causing her to break concentration. She groans loudly and, glaring down at the tiny spider on her leg, hisses, "Tsugu! I was so close, why did you do that?" So upset she was as she allowed the little jumping spider to crawl onto a finger, she didn't even notice that her eyes were glowing a pale blue.
