「PERSONALITY」
Compassionate, thoughtful, and generous, Calico has spent most of his life living for others. It's easier, anyway. He's never sure what he wants or even needs, so focusing on others is a better distraction. He understands wolves easily and is a wealth of good advice and care for anyone who seeks him out.
Unfortunately, he doesn't take his own advice.
Calico is prone to ignoring the things he tells others. He puts his all into others and cares way too much what they think, causing him to constantly fret and worry when he advises others to not. He has a rather bland opinion on himself, often claiming he's boring and not worth the attention others offer. It's always said with a laugh, but deep down he means it. Everyone else is just so great and then there's him.
He puts himself last, even if he desperately wants something. This is evident with his first love; Silky. He always stepped to the side and kept his feelings hidden, even though it tore him up inside. That's just how he is -- he wants everyone else happy, even if it drowns out his own chances. As long as everyone is happy that's good! He's happy! .... Right?
He struggles plenty with his feelings for Silky. While time may heal those wounds, Calico is trapped in his love for a wolf he knows deserves more than him. He's the best friend, and always will be. He won't tell her his feelings and frankly he thinks that is what is needed. His heart shatters as he watches her with a smile. She's always on his mind. She's everything to him, and yet he will never tell her. Not until it'll be too late.
Calico is a cook by heart. While he's seeking a raccoon to help him adequately make a heat source to really cook, he loves mixing herbs together on various meats and creating an entirely new flavor. He loves the faces his pack makes when they eat his food. ________________________________

「BIOGRAPHY」
█ || Puppy ⋯ Calico was a 'happy accident', as his mother liked to say. It was a hurtful comment, but his mother was always one of those -- someone who never thought about the things she did or said. She loved him despite how often she was off flirting with outsiders or tending to other matters. She was never around him except when she needed the attention, and Calico was stuck comforting his mother at a young age. He never revealed his own thoughts to her out of fear she'd run off back to whatever it was she was doing previously.
This would have been a traumatic experience if he hadn't met Silky as a puppy. They bonded quickly, to the point he helped her by creating a language for them to use by gesturing. He stood by her side through thick and thin, and he was better for it. He wasn't alone with her by his side.
When Silky fell for Flames Within he stood by and watched. The feeling of anger in his chest was so foreign for the kind boy that, for months, he struggled understanding what it was. When he finally came upon the ugly realization he was jealous he resented it. Silky deserved happiness, so why wasn't he happy?
A part of him refused to admit the relief he felt when he noticed Flames Within wasn't a good match for her. It was a crushing feeling to have; wishing they'd break up. And yet he did, and desperately. He just didn't want it to happen the way it did. ________________________________
█ || Adult ⋯ Silky was cheated on by Flames Within and Calico tried to comfort the heart-broken she-wolf. He couldn't. Everything he said was met with silence as she recoiled into herself. She crumbled, and guilt ebbed at Calico. He had wanted this, right? Why? Seeing the damage it caused... it wasn't worth it.
So when Silky's parents approached him begging Calico to take Silky away the next time the pack traveled he readily agreed. Anything to repair what he had hoped for. He begged and pleaded and Silky didn't respond. She wouldn't leave, and as she remained she watched Flames Within with his new mate and died more and more. Calico watched the light in her eyes wither.
So he did the singular thing he regrets more then anything else in his entire life. He lied to her.
The pack made a move to travel to a new destination and he promised Silky he knew a shortcut. Something that'd give them space from Flames Within and still allow them to meet up with the pack. She reluctantly agreed and he took her on a winding trip. Eventually, Calico 'admitted' to being lost and Silky ran back to the original pack lands to find everyone had left. Their scent had washed with the recent storm and Calico pretended to not remember where the pack said they were going.
He promised they'd meet up with them again someday. The nomadic pack would cross their paths and they'd be home again. It'd just take time, he said with grit teeth. Silky accepted the lie and listlessly traveled with him to find somewhere to station while they waited.
They crossed The Crows territory and Calico rejected the offer of Big Bad to take the pack trial. Silky almost immediately fell with a fever. Desperate for help and not trained with medicine, Calico pleaded The Crows to take her and help her recover. They did, and Calico waited at the borders for her recovery. It was a punishment, in his eyes -- something caused by what he had done. He had made her sick. He had caused this.
Wrecked with guilt, Calico would have done anything to make it up to Silky. And he did. Silky recovered and asked if they could stay with The Crows until they found their pack. He accepted and they took the trial, not telling Big Bad about their intentions to leave. It didn't matter, really, as when time began to pass Calico began to notice Silky smiling again.
He doubted she'd ever want to leave. So he'd stay.
Even if he felt his heart clutch as his feelings grew. As guilt and love mixed into an ugly concoction. Overwhelmed by how disgusted he felt with himself, Calico buried his affections for Silky.
Even when Silky began to look at another wolf with eyes once reserved for Flames Within. Even when his heart cracked under the pressure.
