Seth Richard

Just like last time, Seth let his silvery gray eyes sweep across the packed boxes, dust-caked bookshelves, and various oddities perched from their stands as he crossed the threshold. The crumbling steamwork vanished as did the cage lamp's bronze glow after the steel door closed. At the storage room's far end, the familiar door with its frosted window appeared to glow orange; At this point, having sneaked into the library no fewer than six times over the past two months, Seth refused to doubt the presence of library patrons in the adjoining hall. Crouched and shrouded in pitch-black darkness, Seth rushed up and pressed against the door, turning an ear to decipher whatever conversations might be held at this rainy hour. No dice; The ongoing downpour drowned out whatever voices were registered by his sensitive but imprecise sense of hearing.
Here goes nothing.
The mahogany door creaked open an inch, letting a sliver of the reading area's warm and welcoming light into the dusty, abandoned room. Noting the absence of people anyone immediately in visual range, Seth finally emerged from the darkness: Clad in black cargo shorts and a matching sweater, Seth's wardrobe had hardly changed. Washed, sure, but even a recent windfall in the form of a hefty payment from a delinquent "client" did little effect on his appearance. The vampire male's laptop backpack hugged his spinal column while his boots remained in reasonable shape given the wear-and-tear sustained over the past month. Taking his seat at a low-rise coffee table surrounded by leather couches, Seth slid his arms through the bag straps and laid the thing on the table, pearking his ears again. He'd thought he heard a woman's voice from the other end of the library- or were there two? However, before Seth could do anything else, a green LED blinked through the meshy fabric; another email from Case would require his immediate attention.
Another minute later, Seth had set up his laptop and charging cable, running the AC end to a column outlet near the base of a bookshelf obscuring Seth's form from the book aisle behind. - - -

Hearing that the library had carried what she was looking for, the silver haired woman swiftly made her way over to the shelf that the librarian had pointed to. " Thank you. My name is Dahlia. Who might you be? " The witch had asked as she began to browse through the selection that they had to offer. Some popular songs seemed to pop up surprisingly, but Dahlia was only looking for the classics. They were easier to play since they were basically drilled into her head during practice. That was... centuries ago, but even now she can still vividly remember everything of her past. Honestly, she wished she didn't but alas... life wasn't fair. " I suppose you live in the city since you work here, correct? " Some small chit chat didn't hurt. Honestly, she quite enjoyed it since it had been a while since she talked to someone. Who was the last person she talked to anyways? Was it Ash Head? Heh, probably~
As she waited for the other woman to respond, Dahlia picked out a music sheet to look off of as she gently placed her violin case on a nearby table, opened it up, and gingerly took her precious instrument into her hands. She hadn't heard the front door, so she had just assumed that it was just the two of them in the library. Surely it was okay to play a little bit since it wasn't busy, right? Well, whatever the case may have been, Dahlia didn't care enough and just began to play anyways.

★·.·´¯`·.·★ Princess Rei L. Riberu ★·.·´¯`·.·★

A small smile appeared upon the raven haired woman's face while nodding once in acknowledgement again. "You're welcome. I'm Princess Rei Riberu of Nurin Kingdom. Pleased to meet you, Lady Dhalia." Rei answered in her usual calm manner, giving a slight curtsy in respect. Though for some reason, it sounded a bit odd using such formal titles when addressing people she'd met or knew already. The princess's gaze turned towards Dhalia's direction for a brief moment, watching as the older woman got out her instrument with the sheet music that was selected. "Yes, I do live within the city. I'm actually the assistant librarian." Rei added while picking up the other small stack of books she had waiting to be put away from off the table to her left. Pausing for a moment, she thought she heard someone enter from a different side of the library.' The sounds being muffled a bit by the carpeting. 'Hmm, how odd. Could that be...?' the princess wondered, but decided to hold off on the thought at the moment. The music that Dhalia played was quite lovely, something she hadn't heard in what felt like an eternity. Rei went towards one of the shelves a few rows behind Dhalia, softly humming an improvised alto part to the music the woman was playing, though slightly loud enough to be heard within earshot as if out of habit. She didn't mind the company, which was better than being in the library alone.

Why did it have to be email spammers today? The moment his shell appeared, an email notification showing a generous count of several hundred messages popped up in the bottom right of the black desktop. Granted, several dozen messages originated from the keyboards of his fellow hackers- half of whom he'd met before his abrupt hiatus- but the remaining messages probably came from a spambot some punk skiddie set up on his shitty school laptop. How did Seth know? The brat failed to scrub all of their machine's outgoing messages clean of the school's signature, giving away the prep school's address below every Cialis, horoscope, or dating "ad".
Once the spam folder was emptied, Seth pulled up a browser tab and began to type something when the fine chords of a particular string instrument reached his ears; probably a violin, viola, or some other expensive piece he'd forgotten the name of. Looking over his screen, through the gaps between the bookshelf's tomes, Seth could not see the perpetrator, though he did make out the general direction of the melody towards the performing arts section. Standing after locking his screen, Seth stepped around the table and past some forgotten city leader's bust. It was going to take another day until his contact responded; he might as well pay the wandering musician a quick visit.
Seth cautiously approached the corner junction, pausing to check the time on a nearby grandfather clock before he walked past one of the restrooms to his left. Just as Seth passed the second lavatory, a familiar alto joined the violin's melody, bringing back memories of that pleasant mansion dinner... Rei? Is that you...? Picking up the pace, Seth rounded the corner, expecting the elegant princess with a broad smile on his face. "I- ..." Coming to a complete stop, Seth's breath hitched as the visage of another familiar woman, one assuredly not welcome in his heart, appeared instead. What in the actual ********> The smile faded from Seth's lips as a scowl came across his features. Outfit: A black sweater, dark gray cargo trousers, and black leather boots.
