Marcel found it so amusing how the slightest little motions could get some fun results from the other man. One of his favorites was how the other man's jaw clenched for some reason, the Hispanic couldn't quite figure why but he still liked it. The other man was just adorable in his eyes. He hoped that the idea of the future wasn't as scary as it was earlier, he knew just how awful the very idea of it could be for the other man. But as long as they made sure to enjoy every moment they had together then everything would be alright and he genuinely believed that. There would always be a small part of himself that would fear for his Lover the day he did pass on but that day was far, far away in his mind. Of course his thoughts would be pulled away from more dreary topics when the other man had the audacity to almost say what he thought was gonna be said "No, do go on" he said in a warning tone, granted it had a bit of a playful edge to it. By all means he wasn't insulted when told that he hit like a girl, not only did he clearly prove otherwise earlier but then there were the women in his unit who were probably tougher than the Hispanic was. They were the kind of women who were only approached and propositioned if the guys were stupid and desperate enough. Which many of them fit those criteria nicely. Marcel would then roll his eyes a bit at the matter-of-fact tone the other took on, well wasn't he just a smartass tonight! He then smirked a little bit and chuckled at the other's confession, honestly he wasn't surprised by it one bit and instead only smiled a little bit at the others question "Sore all over and physically exhausted but, and there's always a but with me. I'm not even close to tired yet" it really was infuriating in a way for the Hispanic. He wanted nothing more than to be able to just go to sleep when tired but he couldn't and the only reason he didn't want to use sleep medication was because he knew that stuff was easily addictive. Then he wouldn't be able to sleep without it in general. He would then let out a hum of consideration "Yeah, why don't we curl up together under the sheets?" he offered to Virgil with a small smile on his face. The tent was about as large inside as was reasonable for their price range but he still knew it might still be a tight fit for his Lover and Marcel would reach up and stroke the others face, running a thumb over Virgil's stubble "I'll be right there with you" he spoke quietly before leaning forward to peck the other on the lips before smiling. The fact that Virgil was able to go into the basement at that old house spoke of what he was capable of in the Hispanic's opinion, he knew that sleeping in a tent for the night wouldn't be to bad.

Needless to say, he wasn't feeling trustful of the playful edge to his voice nor was he cruising for another bruising. A corner of his lips turned down with a small half frown while he listened to him. Marcel's insomnia didn't seem to have a serious effect on his day to day life, but it was still a source of concern for him. A lack of proper sleep could cause some nasty stuff in the long run. "I wish there was somethin' I could do t'help ya with it," he admitted softly with a small sigh. What was almost worse were those times Marcel was asleep but his nightmares apparently kept him from getting any real sleep, something that the big guy could relate to. Hopefully, his mind wouldn't take too much longer to sort itself out and learn to rest peacefully without the aid of alcohol and drug abuse. His nod was hesitant when the veteran confirmed he was ready to turn in for the night. He supposed there was no room to argue that he could sleep outside of the tent while Marcel relaxed inside of it. But, maybe, he was feeling apprehensive for nothing and it wouldn't too bad inside of it. It was small, yes, but as long as he kept reminding himself their tent wasn't a solid structure it might be okay. Whatever material it was made out of would be easy to get through if he absolutely had to, unlike something made through solid wood or stone. He was drawn out of his own thoughts by the feel of his fingers brushing over his face. "I know." The smile he returned was a sleepy one. As long as the Hispanic was around, Virgil was certain he would be able to at least fight through anything. Kind of. Fearing Marcel had gotten snatched by something earlier had definitely given him the will power to make it downstairs to make sure he was okay though, honestly, it had been a desperate dash to his side in a blind panic. And he probably would have been too frightened to find his way out again if Marcel hadn't taken his hand and lead him out of there. "I'll meet ya over there." Sitting up, Virgil drained what was left of his tea and tossed the bottle in the fire. It was burning quite low by now and would be a little more than embers in another hour or so, but he saw no reason to keep feeding it if they were going to lay down. He gathered the items used to make their s'mores and brought them to his truck to set them on the tailgate. Actually putting everything away could wait until the morning when they were packing up to leave. While he was over there, Virgil would remove his jeans and set them over with the rest of his clothes. Being outside wasn't going to stop him from getting comfortable.

Marcel simply shook his head a little bit as he smiled, the notion was honestly sweet of his Lover "Thank's Querido, but I've been living with this insomnia since the early days of my Military career...I'm used to it by now..." he admitted to the other man with a half hearted chuckle. He remembered how many of the people in his squad loved the Hispanic since he would usually just remain on watch duty the entire night while everyone slept. Then in the wee hours of the morning Marcel would wake up the next guy for his post and sleep for an hour or two before waking up and doing it all over again. He knew that such a thing was terribly unhealthy for people to do but it was just something he could never shake off. The Hispanic knew that for all his fuss over Virgil's arrow head he also probably needed to see a doctor over this but he was worried that they'd just throw sleeping pills at him and call it a day. And with sleeping pills not only was the risk for dependence there but he also would be unable to wake himself up from any nightmares. All he knew was that, that was not something he wanted to ever experience for himself. He would then return the other man's smile when he spoke, always glad to remind his Lover that he was was always right there for him if he was needed. He was worried that the tent would be a problem for the other man and now he was considering bringing up just pulling the bed out so they could sleep outside under the stars. Marcel knew that it would be a suggestion his Lover would take to but instead before he could speak the other man began to clean up and told him to go ahead without him. The Lieutenant would smile a little bit and nodded his head before forcing himself up and walked over to the tent, opening it up and crawling inside. It was thankfully large and tall enough to have room on both sides of the inflatable bed and a good foot or two of space from there heads sitting up and the top of the tent. Marcel would then look down at his shorts and sighed a little bit as he remembered his briefs were still on the side of the truck. With a sigh he would slide his shoes off and stick them in a corner before letting himself get comfy by sliding out of his shorts and folding them beside the bed. Marcel would then lay back on the inflatable bed with his head resting against the pillows they brought and smiled a little bit. It wasn't nearly as good as their bed at home but still more comfortable than those cots he and his squad needed to use during his military days. With that thought in his head Marcel would settle down a bit and simply laid there waiting for Virgil so they could snuggle up under the sheets together.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Hearing Marcel state he was used to not being able to sleep didn't make him feel any better about the issue. One that didn't have an easy solution. There were plenty of sleeping aids on the market, but Virgil had heard enough horror stories about those to know he didn't want them anywhere near his insomniac. Not being able to at least help ease the problem and make it more tolerable for him was frustrating although he wasn't going to give up on trying to think of something that didn't involve some sort of medicine. He lingered by his truck for a brief moment before he picked up the phone and shut it off. The silence was almost deafening now. Walking over to the tent, Virgil crouched down and peered into the opening with his lips set into an uncertain line. Seeing the nude frame of his partner relaxing there did nothing at all to tempt him to crawl inside to join him. He didn't want to do this- at all. But they had wasted the money on it and went through the trouble of putting the damn thing together so they might as well get some use out of it. His heart began pounding loud enough for it to echo in his ears as he shifted onto his hands and knees to slowly move inside. It didn't matter how spacious the smaller confines were, he was realizing it would always feel like the walls were mere inches away from him and like he moved or extended his limbs too much he would end up in a world of pain. There was some memory buried just out of reach and he didn't have the motivation to go digging it up. The retired bounty hunter figured he was better off only wondering over why he might have developed this new phobia rather than having a better understanding of his own psyche. A heavy sigh was released as he shifted around and held his feet outside while he dusted them off along with his hands. Once he was done, he crossed his legs and leaned forward to zip the door back up, his stomach sinking as he sealed them in for the night. Virgil sat there afterward, hunkered in on himself for a minute until he remembered exactly why he was putting himself through this torture. Snuggling. Right. He kept his arms tucked close to his body as he shifted to lay down on his back next to Marcel, finding the surface of trapped air beneath him a strange sensation. His gaze stared up at the ceiling while he laid there, trying not to think overly much about where he was. The way the sides of the tent facing the fire almost seemed to faintly glow from the light would have been soothing if he wasn't feeling like he was trapped in a coffin right now. On the bright side, Marcel might be the first one to pass out because sleep had ditched him.

As the Hispanic laid there and allowed himself to get comfortable on the bed he would watch and eye Virgil as he slowly made his way into the tent. It didn't take a genius to see the discomfort on his face and the longer it went on the worse he felt for trying to put Virgil through this. Marcel would watch the other man as he laid himself down next to him and unlike what he wanted to happen the other man laid there stiffly like a corpse. He felt his heart sank at the realization that this was an awful idea. He wanted nothing more than to help make Virgil's phobia go away but he knew that it wasn't that easy to make something so ingrained into one's being simply go away. Marcel had his issues with guns much in the same way that Virgil had his issues with confined spaces, the difference was that Virgil's came up more often than Marcel's. The Hispanic would lay himself down on his side as he reached over and placed a hand on Virgil's forearm "Querido?" his voice was soft as if to not startle the other man beside him. Marcel would then gently grab a hold of Virgil and scooped him into his arms to hold him, placing his chin on top of the larger man's head almost as if to shield him from the confined space "It's just cloth, nothing is forcing you to stay in here..." he spoke before gently rubbing circles around Virgil's back. What else could he do but try to comfort the other man as best he could? He would remain that way gently whispering comforting words for Virgil before pausing for a moment, he knew that this tent was a bad idea. The Hispanic thought that maybe since it was spacious that maybe it would help put the other man at ease but clearly though that wasn't the case. So Marcel would pull back a bit and rested his forehead against Virgil's "You don't have to stay in here if you don't want to..." he made the offer for the other man before offering a small smile "Don't force yourself into something if it's really that bad" Marcel wanted nothing more than to snuggle with the man he loved but if Virgil was this tortured by the smaller space then he'd happily go right back outside under the stars for him. A small part of the Hispanic was telling him that he should have Virgil face his fears by having him try to stay in the tent but Virgil wasn't so cruel as to take him to a shooting range to get him to face his problems. And there was no way he'd do that to Virgil in any way.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show."Don't," he weakly protested as Marcel pulled him into his embrace though he did nothing to stop it and didn't try to pull away, only laying there stiffly against him. While he did appreciate his attempts to comfort him in these moments, Virgil was beyond aggravated with himself and the fact being comforted was even a thing that was happening to him. He used to be so self-sufficient and independent, a man who needed nothing from no one. Fear used to be a foreign feeling to him and now he was very much afraid of something that mostly only existed inside of his head. He gave a stiff nod when his companion pointed out facts he had come close to forgetting under the weight of his anxiety attack. Screwing his eyes tightly shut, he tensed up even more in an attempt to prevent himself from shaking. Those comforting whispers fell on deaf ears for the first time as he kept mentally repeating not to move. That he couldn't move. It wasn't until the Spanish voice spoke a bit more clearly that he was able to derail the thought and his eyes to stare back into those browns. He thought it was kind of Marcel to give him a pass to go back outside to sleep. Unfortunately, he could be mean enough to himself for both of them. He might not feel closed in anymore if he did leave, but he would up just end up feeling defeated in the end and that almost seemed just as bad. "No," he forced out, his voice still tight with tension. "I'm stayin'. Leavin' won't solve anythin'." Though he wasn't sure if staying would either. But at least he would be close to the man he loved, that had to count for something. He shifted down enough so he could bury his face against the Hispanic's chest before the pulled the sheet over them, completely covering himself up with it. Since he couldn't physically burrow into the strong soldier and hide there, this was the best the werewolf could do. Shut out the outside world and try to focus all of his attention on Marcel. The warmth radiating from the solid wall so close to him, the steady and rhythmic sound of his heartbeat. Whatever worked, right? And it was. Slowly. To prove to himself his surroundings weren't going to hurt him, he finally worked up the courage to reach out and rested his hand down on the other man's hip. "What branch of th' military were ya in?" No, he didn't want to talk about what he was going through, feeling that Marcel had done enough for him for one day. Letting his fears get the better of his three times in twenty-four hours was just shameful and he didn't want to burden the younger man any more than he already had.

Marcel's frown deepened when the other man tried protesting against his embrace. The Hispanic didn't care one bit about whether the other man wanted this embrace or not, he was getting the care and affection he deserved! He made sure to hold onto the other man tightly as he whispered words of comfort the whole time, even if it wasn't truly helpful. Marcel just wanted the other man to feel some level of comfort even if it was only for a moment. However when the offer was extended the Hispanic could only sigh a bit when the other man refused the offer of letting him sleep outside in the open air. He could appreciate the fact that Virgil was so willing to face his fear but how stiff the other man was plus how he tense he sounded only made the Hispanic worry. Still though he made sure to hug Virgil close when he buried himself into his chest, resting his chin on top of Virgil's head as the covers were pulled over them and more specifically Virgil. If it helped him then the Hispanic wouldn't comment on it and simply worked to hold Virgil as tight as possible, unwilling to let the other man go. He did smile a small bit though when he heard Virgil ask about what branch he served in "I was a part of the Infantería de Marina" he spoke his native tongue before chuckling a bit "But you'd know it as Spain's version of the Marines" he explained "My squad was the one most often sent out to the front lines since we had the most combat experience and would have newbies brought in to learn from us" he smirked a little bit as snuggled into the other man more "One time a newbie tried to act like a hotshot and told us how to 'properly' maintain our firearms, if we didn't put him in his place he would have fired his gun and lost his hands because of a misfire" he chuckled a bit at the memory as Marcel simply recounted old tales that weren't anything special or horrifying. Just mundane things that would happen in their squad.

Click to show.Virgil rolled his eyes when he was answered in Spanish though just as he was starting to try to work out what the possible translation could be, Marcel cut him some slack and told him what it meant. "Well then, no wonder you're such ah badass," he muttered against his chest. As far as he understood, it was the Marines who were sent on the more dangerous and high-risk missions. He would always find any information about his past interesting even if he ended up hating all the bullshit the younger veteran had gone through. Things he could only imagine, but it was some sort of distraction from his own thoughts. His digits absent-mindedly traced meaningless symbols over his skin while he listened to him. The big guy actually found himself chuckling a little bit. "Why is it newbies always think they're hotshit?" he sighed out with a slight hint of amusement to his voice. The rookie who had come with him to gather intel had certainly acted like he was a god given gift to their makeshift group. Maybe if he had tried harder to put him in his place then maybe things would have turned out differently for them. "Kinda sounds like I've ended up with one of Spain's best Marines then." His gruff voice might make it not sound like a compliment, but it was meant to be one even though he knew Marcel had been formally discharged. Just because he was no longer fit for combat didn't change that in his mind. He adjusted his position somewhat simply to remind himself that moving was still a thing he could do. Those strong arms were only holding onto him and not restraining him. "I know...ya don't like bein' place on ah pedestal an' that ain't my intention," Virgil finally broke his silence after a minute once he managed to find the courage to share something that had been on his mind for a while. "But I jus'...want ya t'know how much ya amaze me. You're th' first soldier I've met who's able t'leave all th' violence of war behind." He was under the impression, anyway, and from what he had overheard earlier when Marcel had spoken to his ex-wife living a normal life was something he'd wanted right from the start. "Ain't sayin' it's easy for ya, but...you're doin' it. Hell, I wasn't ah soldier an' I let it turn me into ah monster." He kissed the spot beneath his lips.

Marcel couldn't help but smile and let a chuckle rumble out of his chest when Virgil went out and called him a bad a**, the thought of it was amusing quite honestly. Him? A bad a**? Well he could see how anyone would think that if he were honest, it did sound cool he supposed. Honestly he was at the point in their relationship where the Hispanic honestly didn't mind telling Virgil about his past anymore. After coming clean with the horrible atrocities that he'd committed against innocent people he felt like anything else was just small things in comparison. Marcel then chuckled a little bit at the others question "Usually they're been made into bitches in boot camp and their pride is wounded, so once they're out they have to show off" he smirked a little bit "Usually they try to fight the toughest guy in the unit to prove something...don't know what but something..." he shook his head a little bit. All that ever really did was piss off the other people in the unit, it wasn't always the case but when they were there it was noticeable. However the soft chuckling from before came out as a full blown fit of giggles when Virgil called him Spain's best Marine. It was a sweet sentiment no doubt however before he could dispute it the Werewolf began to speak again and he blinked a little bit as he spoke. Marcel bit his lip a little bit as listening to Virgil made his heart just about burst, he really didn't deserve Virgil in any way.

When the other man paused Marcel didn't speak a word as he let his lover think about what he wanted to say and what came out next shook the Hispanic to the core. While Virgil didn't see it he had a deep set frown on his face, the idea that Virgil thought so highly of him. After Virgil gave him a kiss a small smile grew on Marcel's face as he let out the tiniest sigh "Querido, did I ever tell you about how they found out about my mental state?" he just needed to be sure "It's because I nearly killed a fellow soldier with my bare hands" Marcel started as his fingers massaged his back "I don't remember why but I just remember he made some comment that pissed me off, it wasn't even anything that serious but I lost it" he continued on with the story he told to the other man "Took a couple others to pull me off him, after that my friend Manuela...afterwards she said that she hardly recognized me" Marcel stated with a sigh "She said I was like a different monster, she said I was like a psychopath..." the Hispanic shook his head a little bit "Afterwards it was reported and I got evaluated by professionals, it was afterwards that I realized she was right, I was a psychopath...so after that...I swore to never kill another person ever again, to only resort to real violence when absolutely necessary" their spar was something else entirely. That was well near just exercise so neither of them got rusty, that's how he saw it at least.

He would have never thought such a thing was possible until he heard it, and he found it to be a rather cute sound. Not being able to watch Marcel's face and see what sort of expressions might be passing over his face was strange and he didn't particularly like it, but he wasn't feeling brave enough to come out of hiding yet. Inside of his makeshift cocoon, the broken werewolf had managed to convince himself that the tent surrounding them didn't exist. His conscience was trying to argue differently, of course, but as long as he kept listening to Marcel and running his dumb mouth in return then its voice could be ignored. Mostly. "Nope," he eased out softly, having always assumed Marcel had gotten discharged due to his condition. As the reason behind the end of his military career was shared, Virgil supposed his original assumption hadn't been too far of the mark after all. He was sure the other soldier had probably desired it. Maybe not at the time the veteran had snapped on him, but he couldn't believe the guy was completely without blame. He frowned a little when he repeated what his friend had told him, unable to stop himself from remembering the creepy smile that Marcel had worn during part of their spar and he couldn't help but share the woman's sentiment. As far as it went to say that he looked unrecognizable at least. That he was a monster or a psychopath was something the former bounty hunter couldn't stand by until he actually witnessed his boyfriend committing something truly horrible. Not that he thought he ever would, believing him when he told him he had sworn to never kill or let his violent nature get the better of him. "If it's any consolation, psychopaths rarely know they're psychos even after they've been told." Though he was far from being an expert on the matter. He had taken a few seminars on psychology on the advice of an acquaintance that it would make his job easier, but he hardly remembered what he'd them. A soft sigh came from him as he pressed his face a little more firmly into his chest. "But we didn't meet 'cause you're workin' for some crime organization or anythin'..." His voice dissolved into an unintelligible grumble as the point he was trying to make became completely lost on him. Huffing and shaking his head, Virgil pulled back the sheet enough so he could try to peek up at him. Almost shyly so. "What I'm tryin' t'say is....you're tryin' t'make ah better life. That's all that matters in th' end."

Marcel could say that Virgil managed to get the Hispanic to giggle like a madman, that was something he hadn't done in a long time. It was a bit refreshing to say the least. Once the other man let him know that he hadn't told him the Hispanic would go on to explain the how's and why's of his discharge. The memory of Manuela's words definitely hurt him badly, even today it still stings to think that one of his closer friends in the Marines had thought he was a monstrous psychopath. The fact that Virgil might now paint him in such a way in his head made the Hispanic feel physically ill. He didn't want such an image to ever enter the other man's head. However what Marcel wasn't aware was that Virgil had already seen a glimpse of the monster that lives just beneath the surface - getting riled up from something intense as a seriously good fight unknowingly woke him up. Marcel's frown only deepened when the other man tried to console him, so was Virgil agreeing with her? That hurt. Psychopaths don't know they're psychos even after being told. The other man's words rung through his mind which caused the Hispanic to release a silent sigh. Don't dwell on it, he obviously didn't mean anything by it. That's what he'd continue telling himself. As Virgil buried himself more into the Hispanic's tanned chest, Marcel would looked down at the cocooned form of his boyfriend and smiled a little bit before chuckling at the others comment "Si, though it certainly would be an interesting way to say we met" the idea of it was amusing to him to say the least. Although Marcel would quiet down and stare at the shuffling of the blanket to see Virgil just barely peek out from the safety of the covers to look at him. It was dark but thankfully the Hispanic's eyes were adjusted to the darkness enough to just see those beautiful verdant orbs twinkle in what little light there was, Marcel smiled warmly at his Lovers words which caused his heart to swell as he wanted nothing more than to somehow show Virgil how much that meant to him. For the other man to acknowledge his attempts at normalcy and validating all this time he'd worked on himself for the better, to hear someone else speak of it meant the world to him "Thank you...so much Querido" Marcel would duck his head under the covers with Virgil and angled his head downwards to press his lips to Virgil's once more this night. Marcel wouldn't let this kiss end so quickly and a hand went up to the back of Virgil's neck as he deepened the kiss. Partly to show his appreciation and partly to help further distract Virgil from their surroundings. When Marcel finally pulled back he took a deep breath "I...I love you Virgil...with all my heart" it took him a moment to collect his thoughts and that simple deceleration was all he could muster at this moment, even though he wanted to say so much more. But there were some words that just weren't powerful enough to express emotions, Virgil might be capable of it but the Hispanic sadly wasn't nearly as capable with his words as Virgil was.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Virgil frowned when he heard the sigh coming from him, which he took to mean his statement hadn't quite come off as he had meant it. After repeating it again, he mentally kicked himself. 'Way t'go a*****e...' he mentally chastised himself. It wouldn't surprise him if Marcel believed he thought the same as his old friend did after that thoughtless comment, which wasn't the case at all. War changed people in the worst ways and he could look past what sort of thing it was twisted the Hispanic into. There might be lapses, such as during their spar earlier, but he refused to believe he was wholly psychotic. In his experience they rarely knew how to hold back and holding back was all Marcel seemed to do those few times he had witnessed the man in a fight. With his combat training, he didn't doubt it would have been easy for the ex-Marine to have killed his opponents and yet he'd only dispatched them without taking their lives. Something Virgil had trouble with doing and had only managed to stop himself because his boyfriend had been right there with him. And it would be lying if the hired killer hadn't entertained the thought of finding those idiots later and taking care of them when there wasn't anyone around to witness it. It had amused a part of him when Marcel had voiced his concern about him losing control because of the bodies. He hadn't had the heart to tell him at the time there was little to worry about because he had the knowledge and resources to make those bodies disappear. Maybe they were both psychopaths, but he couldn't bring himself to care. It was fitting in a way. At least his second bumbling attempt at soothing him seemed to work, which had him smirking a little. It might be interesting, but he knew it would only end in heartache for the two of them. A romance between enemies didn't seem like it would come to a happy conclusion in his opinion. His heart lifted and filled with joy when he noticed the smile gracing his lover's face. Seeing those rare expressions would never fail to light up his world. He only made a small noise when he was thanked. He hardly needed it though he was happy to have had gotten right for once. Virgil practically melted into the slow kiss, every ounce tension appearing to drain from his body as their tongues explored each other's mouths. It didn't matter how often they kissed during the day, he would never get tired of it. Would never be able to get enough of them. Though he could barely make out the rugged feature's of his within the darkness of their makeshift cocoon, he still stared at him through half-lidded eyes once the kiss ended. "Aye." Virgil couldn't have better himself if he had tried, honestly. He combed his fingers back through Marcel's hair before letting his hand cradle the back of his head. "You're my sunshine," he murmured softly though he soon grinned a bit once he remembered the words were part of a song. One the big guy couldn't help but think that kind of suited their love given Marcel's pet name for him and how he felt about the other man. After screwing up at comforting him a few seconds ago, he felt the need to make it up to him. By making an idiot of himself, as always. Virgil nuzzled his cheek before he settled down and began to softly sing to him. "Th' other night dear as I lay sleepin', I dreamed I held ya in my arms. When I awoke dear I was mistaken so I hung my head an' I cried," His gentle voice held a hint of sadness to it. People always sang it as if it was a perfectly happy song, but to him, it wasn't. It was bittersweet at best. "Ya are my sunshine, my only sunshine. Ya make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear how much I love ya. Please don't take my sunshine away." A small yawn interrupted him, but he wasn't going to let it stop him from finishing. "I'll always love ya an' make ya happy an' nothin' else could come between. But if ya leave me t'love another, you'll have shattered all of my dreams." Virgil let his voice fade to silence in favor of smiling at Marcel. Yeah, the silly little song pretty much summed his feelings on the whole matter up for him. "I don't think you're ah psychopath, by th' way...Don't think I ever could even if I come home one day t'ya skinin' someone in our livin' room." He would probably just Marcel in time out for making a mess.

Marcel knew that his lover hadn't meant any real harm by what he'd said but it was hard to not take it in such a way. The Hispanic was honestly very conscious about how he reacted in violent situations, at least he tried. Sometimes like in the earlier spar Marcel would lose his thoughts and run on pure instinct, those times were simply out of his control and awareness. But for times like at the beach he was able to usually keep a cool head with little issue whatsoever. He knew that some people handled the stress of war differently, some thrived in the battlefield and reveled in the bloodshed, others repressed the awful things they've done, some accept the evils that they're doing, and apparently people like himself change as a person to accommodate this new life. He did not like that idea in the slightest but it certainly did seem accurate to his situation even though it didn't appeal to him at all. Thankfully though Marcel had learned early on how to restrain himself and learnt how to subdue his opponents with as little violence as possible. He'd even learned early on that genuine humiliation was the best way to deal with people, whether they run off in shame or get so angry that they get sloppy and end up hurting themselves more. It wasn't easy for the Hispanic to not just break their necks and be done with it but he wasn't in war anymore, he knew that murder would get him jail time regardless of his status as a veteran. Once the Hispanic dipped down for the kiss he was pleased to find the other man melt in his arms. Their kiss was passionate and the Hispanic would let his mind free itself of the earlier dark thoughts that gripped him and simply let himself get lost into the embrace of his lover. He couldn't help it really, Virgil's kisses just seemed to make everything better. The intimate display of affection let him know that everything was alright along with also being the only way he could try and convey his feelings since even actions had a difficult time showing how he truly felt. Marcel would then smile a little bit when Virgil called him his sunshine, it was honestly such a cute little thing to say but also so similar to the others pet name. However Marcel was taken by surprise when Virgil's southern drawl began singing and it caused the Hispanic's smile to grow fond as he laid there staring at the others face in the dark. As the other continued his singing it must have been an American children's song or something of that nature because he'd never heard it before and he somewhat liked it as the song lyrics sounded sweet yet held a somber touch. When the other man finally finished singing Marcel remained quiet to listen to the other man express how he thought the Hispanic wasn't a psychopath although how he chose to end it had the Veteran chuckling a little bit "I wasn't that warped even when I was serving" he ginned a little bit before reaching forward and placing a hand on Virgil's cheek to caress it as he leaned forward plant a kiss on his lips before pulling away with a smile "You're truly someone I'd never give up" with that he gently pulled Virgil against his chest and kissed the top of his head as he held him. He'd once made such a claim to Kendra and he stuck too it, however that ended when he caught her with another man and shattered his world. The stray thought entered his mind that his proclamation would jinx it and he'd come home to Virgil with another man but then he knew that it would never happen. Virgil had his undivided trust.

Though his concern wasn’t a real one, he didn’t actually think he would ever catch Marcel actually torturing someone or anything like that. ”Good t’hear. I’ve seen enough of that crap t’last me ah life time.” Not that he had came across such a gorey scene a whole lot in his life time. Two or three at the most, which was more times too many by his way of reckoning. But then there were the countless other horrors he had witnessed throughout his lifetime. Needless to say, the older man had little faith in humanity at this point in his life after seeing how evil people could truly be and war had little to do with it. He lightly pressed his cheek into the hand resting on his face, his lips forming into a tire smile after the sweet kiss. ”I can say th’ same, love. I will always fight for ya.” This was his first time ever saying such intimate things to another person. Virgil had tricked himself into thinking he had loved Matthew although he had never gotten the courage to tell him, fear of how the other man would respond had a decent way of keeping him quiet. Perhaps deep down somewhere in his heart he had known that it wasn’t truly love. Thinking back on it now, he didn’t know how in the hell he had thought he’d fallen for the guy in the first place. Loneliness and desperation, probably, but it was over with now so he wasn’t going to dwell on it. He was certain this time around this was the real deal and, if past experience was anything to go by, he would have gotten restless and ready for someone new to warm his bed by now if it wasn’t. As his face was tucked back into its hiding spot, Virgil let out a low content rumble as he nuzzled the middle of the Hispanic’s chest. His mind was still mostly awake although he was ready to at least finge sleep. For the first time since getting into the tent, he stretched out fully only to drape an arm and a leg over Marcel as he made himself comfortable. ”G’night, my heart,” he mumbled faintly just before he kissed the spot over his heart. Since it couldn’t be seen, he did nothing to stop the evil grin from forming. ”Remember anythin’ freaky ya hear is probably jus’ an animal, but if ya get t’scared feel free t’wake me up.” Virgil was certain it wouldn’t happen, but it couldn’t hurt to let him know by way of a joke.
