The Harbor into Vampire Island is perhaps the safest way onto the island, there are plenty of vessels that come in from the other islands, or from outside. there are plenty of people around to help if you need it.

Jade had never been one to enjoy traveling by sea for such long periods of time. For the first 3 days it was quite peaceful, but after they went through the first storm and there were 4 more days to follow, she had had enough. When the line of buildings and ships came into view she almost screamed in relief. "Finally..." She breathed. Never had she been so happy to see dirt roads filled with strangers.

She remained leaning over the side of the boat until the anchor was to be dropped. Then, she quickly grabbed her things from her chambers, which was more like a broom closet. Jade practically skipped up the stairs to meet the ramp being slid into place and was first to exit the unsteady vessel.

Her legs felt shaky and somewhat like jello; so much so that she had to brace herself on one of the posts along the harbor She gave herself a moment before pushing her body forward into the town before her. The smell of freshly made goods alongside the fragrances of human youth filled her nostrils and she couldn't help but let out a sigh. This was a new place, a new start. And she would be damned if she didn't make the best of it.

Richard Fleischer
Insecure Vampire

User Image A hulking man of six feet and two inches in height was standing half-hidden behind a building just within sight of the docks. He was clothed from head to toe in heavy black garments. He wore a muffler around his neck. A tight high collared shirt covered the remainder of his neck for added reassurance. Additionally he wore a buttoned down shirt with long, somewhat puffy sleeves which ended over his thumbs. Beneath his simple black pants he wore wool tights. He wore tall boots which he laced up to his knees. Over all of this he wore a doubly thick hooded cloak, which was currently buttoned up as far as possible with the hood pulled over his forehead. The deep color and overall quality of his clothes spoke of wealth. He'd used makeup to hide the pale white color of his skin to make himself look tan and on his hair, eyelashes and eyebrows he'd used temporary dye to make them look black. All of his layers of clothing were meant to hide his body from sight and keep his real identity a secret. His mismatched eyes, one a pale grey and the other a pale pink with a touch of cherry red color, stared longingly out at the ships harbored out there. How he wanted to go home. To return to his quiet, dark and safe basement where he could be alone. He was the only surviving son of a wealthy family which meant that if he wanted something he could have someone get it for him. There was no need for him to ever leave the security of his home.

User ImageBut for years he'd heard tales of a mysterious vampire woman who protected this island. She was his main reason for being here right now. He'd spent most of his nights skulking around in the hopes that someone would mention her and he could then question them. When they were alone and unsuspecting. Of course he wouldn't allow them to live after that, but that didn't matter to him. He wanted to speak to this woman and unravel her mysteries. To learn how she had befriended an entire island and convinced them to turn to her from protection against the church. To him, she was like a hero from an old fable. Honorably placed high on a pedestal within his imagination. But he'd no such luck. No one spoke as if they knew her. He'd rarely heard anyone mention her and when they had it was obvious they didn't know anything he cared to find out. The people here were loud and smelly. They always seemed to travel in groups. Of course, he could only be out during the night. He suspected if he were capable of withstanding the sun's power he'd have more luck.

User ImageThere was little point to wishing for the impossible and he was beginning to feel that this quest of his was undoable. At least for a coward like him. He couldn't lie to himself about that. He was afraid of crowds, which meant that three or more people could make him feel overwhelmed simply by existing within his space. He was uncomfortable with anyone being within several feet of him. Which made moving around a scary and incredibly difficult ordeal. Why were there so many people here and why couldn't they all stay in their homes?! Why were they always outside and why was no one out by themselves at night?! Even now, as he stared at the ships, there were crowds of people exiting and flooding into the harbor. If not for them, he told himself that he would be purchasing a ticket and going home immediately. But he knew that was also impossible for him right now.

User ImageIt had taken him four months to journey to this island. Four months in what had been referred to as a suite. Being afraid of crowds Richard had mostly kept to his rooms, avoiding other people as often as he could. His ‘food’ had been brought to him and he’d let them all leave alive. They’d seen him. They’d seen where he was. They knew how to find him. He could make people do anything if he paid them enough but he still had to interact with them. So, naturally, four months trapped in a metal box and unhidden from a large number of others had been one of the more unpleasant experiences of his long life. Thinking about having to go through it again made him anxious, but weighed against staying it seemed just a little bit less awful than staying here. He wanted freedom, wanted peace and solitude. If only just for a little while he wanted to feel safe and happy. He had hoped he would get a little closer to attaining something like that by coming here.

User ImageAs he hovered behind the building his weary mind rushed with different flashes of thoughts, all interrupted before they could finish.
You’re a monster. A male voice whispered inside his mind and his thoughts halted immediately. The voice was right. He didn’t deserve to have his wishes fulfilled, but he’d managed to trick himself into coming here anyway. He stiffened, clenching his jaw as he tried to disregard his fears. He couldn't return empty handed. He needed to finish this. As he was looking out into the crowd of people he caught sight of an odd-looking young woman. She was beautiful, if not for the fascinating patterns on her skin. The expression she wore defied his thoughts and broke him out of his negativity. She seemed so lovely and vivacious. Something about her called to him. He slipped out of the shadows of the building. Moving along the walls and as far from the others as he could, he followed her. He stayed about six feet away from her.

User ImageBeing closer, he could easily tell by her scent that she wasn't human. She smelled like death. This made her more appealing, considering the persona she put forth. Yet as with others he didn't have the courage to simply walk up to her an strike up a conversation. In his head he was thinking through what he could say to break the ice. Words that would make her smile like that, but at him. Her scent led him to believe there was a chance she may be connected to Sebastet.

Jade took hold of her bags and moved forward. It was surprising to see so many people up and about during the evening. She was mostly used to people barring their doors and remaining in for the night, but these people had a strength about them that appealed to her. Her eyes scanned the signs on the buildings around her, looking for a tavern or in for her to stay in or at least a place for her to sit on steady land.

It wasn't long before she got that feeling as if someone were staring down the back of her neck. Unfortunately, she was not telepathic; which, she sometimes wished she could trade for her empathic abilities. Jade tensed slightly, but quickly relaxed, she certainly didn't want to tip of whoever was following behind, if there even was a somebody. Maybe the sea sickness was still affecting her and she was not yet used to her surroundings. She shook her head slightly before readjusting the bags in her hands and continuing on.

As she walked, some groups would fall silent as seeing her scars others would whisper. This did not bother her so much anymore, not like it did when she was much younger. Back then she had a venomous tongue and an easily ignited rage and she used both often, landing herself in trouble many times. It is what started her travels. The trouble she got in to would sometimes reveal her identity as a vampire or at least something not human and she would be forced to leave the town or even the area completely. Jade learned her lesson quickly, to survive she had to learn self-control and how to remain below the radar.

Of course, this is something that is not entirely possible, both due to her scar and unnatural traits that drew humans in. However, this did come in handy once it came close to her need to feed. It was not hard to convince an unwary or tipsy man or woman to follow her. She always tried her best to not kill them and to make as little mess as possible. She so little liked having to leave from a new place so soon.

And, as it happens, the need for a drink was rising within her. She couldn't feed while on her voyage as she would have surely been found out. Including herself, there were a total of 10 passengers, 7 of which were the crew and captain. There would have been nowhere to hide and there was no doubt she would have been thrown into the ocean to burn. Ironic really.
Jade momentarily forgot that someone was close behind her as the scents of youth filled her senses once more, making her grip tighten on her bags. She pursed her lips in thought.
'Where would I leave my bags then.... I very well couldn't hunt with them on my person now could I?...' While she pondered her gate slowed slightly and she walked on autopilot.

User Image As the mysterious young vampire stopped, he felt his heart begin to race. At times he suspected that she'd become aware of his company but she wasn't trying to run away. Was she accepting him by allowing him to follow her? Why would a girl all by her lonesome let a stranger follow her? He knew that it must be more dangerous for him to keep going--or at least she thought so. He stared out at her from the shadows, becoming anxious as he tried to make a decision. If he kept following her, she may lead him into a trap from which there was no escape. She didn't look like an invincible monster but then again he'd only ever met one of those in his life. If he chose to stop he may lose his only way of gaining information about Sebastet. He inhaled deeply, the air passing uneasily through his trembling and dry lips.

User Image A small group of young humans was drawing near. What if he lost her in a crowd? All sorts of negative possibilities and outcomes were running through his mind. He fidgeted, hovering towards her only to quickly retreat into the darkness again. He started to take another deep breath to steady himself but the humans weren't waiting for him. There was no time! He kept himself floating as he rapidly pushed forward. He realized too late that he had no idea what the hell he was going to do. He rushed through the street, heart pounding loudly in his ears as his nervousness grew. All manner of dust and litter was kicked up behind him. He grabbed hold of the woman, passing by the group of humans with her in his arms before they could get too close.
What the hell am I doing?! He chastised himself but was too afraid to stop. He knew what he was doing was idiotic and dangerous.

User Image But nowhere was safe! He couldn't see anywhere safe enough to stop, drop her and run away. This was due in part to how quickly he was moving. He would keep blindly rushing through the streets until either she stopped him or he somehow managed to bring them somewhere completely deserted. His hands were tightly holding onto the outside of her arms like an iron vice. His arms which held her closely against his chest were stiff as if they made of steel.

Jade could sense the heat of human flesh moving closer. It wouldn't only be something quick, not much. Most of the nearby group were younger men, which made her job much easier. Her pace slowed a bit more so that she may slip amongst the group to distinguish which would become her prey. The group was almost upon her when warning bells rang loud and clear, breaking her focus.

Of course, she was not prepared in the slightest for what was to come. She though her follower was maybe a creep or pervert or possibly, even worse, a hunter. But before she could react, she was suddenly taken by her arms and moved with extreme speed. All she could think to do was drop her bags in a dark spot and hope she remembered where later. Well, that and the instinctive rage that was boiling in her chest from an interrupted meal. She tried to wriggle free, but quickly realized the man holding her was not human. His grasp was far too tight and his speed was far too great. 'What the hell is he thinking? In front of all these humans no less?!'

Jade threw her head back a little, trying to take in her surroundings. 'An alley!' The dark passage quickly caught her eye. Her heart was pounding from surprise and confusion, but she had to act quickly. Before she fully thought out her actions, she craned her neck towards his face and firmly kissed him on the lips in hopes of distracting her captor in some way.

She took this moment to plant one foot on the ground and pivot them towards the dark alleyway, a place better suited for her to free herself and get some answers. Once between the damp walls, Jade pushed off the wall behind him, freeing herself from his grip. She quickly reclosed the gap between, but this time her forearm pressed against his neck and his back against the wall.

"You know, you could've at least bought me dinner before sweeping me off my feet." She gasped, Breathing heavily from the rapid exchange.

User Image He could barely hear anything over the pounding of his own heart and he felt like if he didn't calm down it would stop beating. He didn't slow down and instead had begun to pick up the pace. He had to find somewhere to drop her! Somewhere no one would see him so he could slow down with absolutely no people around. His anxiety laden thoughts were brought to a sudden end as it dawned on him that he was being kissed.
"Hng--?!" An odd noise came from Richard as he was kissed by the woman he'd essentially kidnapped. He was now panicked for a different reason but simply had no idea what to do about it. The direction they were traveling in was changed forcibly and he had to struggle to avoid falling over. Before he could even fully process what had just happened, he felt himself being pinned to a wall.

User Image His senses came alive as he stared down at her, eyes alight with fear and disgust. He couldn't bear to make eye contact with a beautiful woman so very quickly he looked up. The tiny space they were in felt like it was going to encapsulate them both. Small spaces, particularly poorly lit ones like this alley, scared him. He wanted nothing more than to flee to a more open space. Fear of what his intended victim would do to him kept him glued to his spot. He didn't even try to distance himself from the filth of the wall he was pinned to. He'd just have to burn his clothes later and take several hot baths if he ever wanted to feel clean again. He knew that this woman was a vampire, or at the very least a different variety of undead, yet he hadn't expected this turn of events. It took him a few seconds to focus his scattered thoughts and come up with a plan.
"D-dinner?!" He repeated, his deep voice cracking due to how nervous he was feeling.

User Image His hands twitched at his sides as he thought about using the two kattar daggers he kept hidden underneath his cloak. If she really were connected to Sebastet and he attacked her, he may never find out what he wanted to know. Worse still he may end up being killed if he did. So he decided to avoid fighting back unless he absolutely had to. His lips parted as he started to speak again, only for the words to get caught in his throat. His mouth and throat felt dry. His lips felt like they belonged to someone else after being kissed. Why had she done that to him anyway? Why not just attack him? It was so much worse knowing that a ravishing beauty with fascinating scars had been the one to steal his lips and to not know why. He really wished she had hit him instead, it would be so much less confusing.

User Image He needed another few seconds before he was able to speak again.
"I-I--! I didn't do anything wrong!" He felt like such a fool saying it, even as those words left his lips. His voice was naturally deep and rather masculine sounding. It didn't suit his cowardly nature and he was very aware of that fact. He felt a little dizzy. If only this were a nightmare, he could simply force himself to wake up and he'd be home again. A hard lump was in his throat and he swallowed, hard, in a further attempt to steady himself. "I-I'll do it! I'll feed you--if that's what you want! J-just--let's go somewhere else! I... I can't breathe..!"" He swallowed again and curled his fingers into his palms. He struck the side of his leg with one of his fists, hoping the pain would help to bring him back to reality.

Jade's eyebrows creased together as his feelings, which were held back by the sudden rise in adrenaline, came suddenly flooding into her mind. She quickly took a step back, jerking her arm from his neck. 'Who the hell even is this guy...' Her thoughts darted from place to place trying to grab any answers she could while her 'captor' calmed down. He seemed to be having a full blown panic attack. As she shifted her weight, leaning more towards the exit which caused her palm to brush against the grimy wall towering behind her. "I don't think you want to feed me in the way I need."

She rubbed her fingers against the inside of her palm, making a somewhat disgusted face at the damp and dirty feeling. Jade looked down at herself, not wanting to wipe it on her pants, but she had no other option and wanted it no longer in contact with her skin. So, regretfully she swiped her hand against the seam of her pant leg, hoping the placement would make it less noticeable.

Jade began to regain her previous composure, albeit more thirsty and on guard than before. "...but, change of scenery would be most appreciated, but the only reason we are here is that you grabbed me." She looked back up at him, meeting his eye. Her gaze was questioning and the color in her irises almost seemed to be churning with distrust. "I know you're not human, so the reason is far beyond me." She took one step towards him.

"I think you owe me an explanation and I'm not letting you leave this place until you give me some inkling of what your intentions are."

User Image Richard was debating running away as she was distracted by the filth on her hand. She would forget his face if he was quick enough, right? This wouldn't ruin his chances later... Would it? But he couldn't will his legs to move. He was just steadying his breaths when she stepped towards him again. His hands twitched by his sides, halfway reaching for his daggers. Was she going to attack him? He stared down at her, running his options through his head. She didn't look strong, but if he did something to insult one of Sebastet's allies life here would be difficult. If he ran away what if she found him later? "I-I owe you?" He repeated, processing what she'd said to him. He slid away from her, flinching in disgust as he could hear the muck of the wall being smushed against his expensive cloak. He could practically feel the filth through his clothing and wanted nothing more than to throw it away. He inched towards the way they'd come in, never showing her his back. "I... Without thinking--I didn't want to--!"

User ImageHe glanced to his left as once more he thought about running away. He knew that she wasn't human either, so he suspected she may be able to follow him if he fled. He shifted, removing his coat and throwing it onto the ground. His body was still covered by other clothing but he didn't want to wear something that was so disgusting.
"What... What would you like? He looked over at her, needing a bit more time to weigh his options. Asking for her preference meal-wise was his way of giving himself more time to form a plan.

User Image As he stared into her eyes his nervousness revived. His instinct was calling out to him to act, to do what he had to in order to get away from her. His hands swiftly grabbed hold of the daggers sheathed at his hips. In one motion backed by his unnatural speed and strength, he stabbed at her shoulder with one of his daggers. He pulled it back quickly, using the butt end of the other to strike hard at her sternum. He wanted to knock her out, but knowing that she was undead meant that one good hit might not be enough to get the job done. He shifted, daggers in hand, and fled the narrow passageway leaving his cloak behind. He was running to get away from her but did have a destination in mind. His room at the inn. The only place on this island where he felt at least a little bit safe. It was also the only place where he felt like he could be alone.

Jade shifted her weight, becoming nervous and very wary of his actions. His erratic behavior was foreign to her and left her unsure of how to proceed. Her eyebrows came together to form a puzzled look. "Do you often kidnap people without thinking?" She never closed to the distance between them but angled her body to follow him as he tried to escape.

Jade's eyes followed the cloak to the ground. Her eyes met his briefly before glancing back down at the disregarded robe, preparing to respond. Unfortunately, her mistake was not maintaining eye contact and complete awareness of his movements.

She was too late to respond when she felt the blade enter her shoulder. She let out a brief scream which was quickly cut short by the force to her sternum. The wind was knocked out of her and her thoughts immediately scattered. When she looked up he had already escaped the alleyway and promptly cursed to herself. Jade brought her hand up to grasp her bleeding wound, which was healing a bit slower than usual due to her lack of sustenance. "I can't walk out in public in a bloodied garment well can I..." she thought. [color=indigo]"Screw him, It's not worth trailing him now..." Jade grabbed his cloak and draped it over her one shoulder, exiting the alley herself to find her things before beginning the search for her things.

After several minutes she had finally retraced her... steps to where she had dropped them. She hastily checked to make sure all the important things were there and finally brought her hand up to her neck to make sure the pendant still remained. The heavy stone swung against her palm, making her chest relax from a deep sigh. The only problem now was the ache in her throat and gums as they throbbed. Her wound was now completely healed but the blood remained and she would need to change out of the sticky top soon. And, after questioning some of the townspeople around her, she directed herself to the inn at the edge of town where she could hopefully get a room and someone to momentarily keep her company.

Morrigan
A small boat arrived in the harbor, carrying a handful of people onto the island. The boat docked, allowing the passengers to disembark and head off to their various destinations. Two passengers remained motionless, however, a red-haired woman in a simple shirt and jeans and what seemed to be a small child completely covered by a cloak.

Morrigan looked around the area and shook her head a bit. "I can't believe we finally made it to the island," she muttered. "We've been heading this way for so long."
The cloaked figure spoke up, letting anyone within earshot discover that it was a young girl. "I wish Daddy could have gotten here with us," the girl said softly, her tone betraying how sad the statement made her. Morrigan let out a soft sigh. "So do I, Samirra. So do I. But I'm sure he would be happy that we made it here. Now we just have to make it the rest of the way."

Morrigan saw several villagers nearby and decided to risk asking for help. She approached a young man and got his attention. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm a bit lost. We've heard that the island is ruled by a Hylarr, and we really need to see her. It's extremely important." The young man pointed out a specific path and began to give directions to the castle. As the man spoke, Morrigan's skin started to take on a beautiful golden tone for a moment. Morrigan gritted her teeth and pushed her rising need back down, causing her skin to turn back to its normal tone.

She gave the male a polite smile. "Thank you so much for your assistance." She gestured for Samirra to follow her and started in the direction the man had indicated.
"It's getting harder for you, isn't it?" Morrigan sighed again. "It's fine. I've got it under control." She knew that her niece probably wasn't fully convinced at this point. She was having such a hard time dealing with her awakened demonic genes, and she knew that she couldn't keep herself under control for much longer. But she was so close to getting her niece to safety. She just had to hold out a bit longer. She pushed the thoughts from her mind as she led her young niece toward the castle.

The smell of salt and fish bombarded his senses as he came updeck from the lower holds. Fish and salt he most defenitly would not miss. He repositioned his bag on his left shoulder and headed towards the ramp exiting the ship. He would be glad to be gone from the rocking and uneasiness of the sea. He preferred the consistent stability of the land. the familiarity of the trees, leaves, and dirt.

He planned to go to the castle and not look back. This move was a whole new beginning for him. He had the money he took from his parent's murders and the enjoyment of sweet revenge. A grin cascaded onto his face as he recollected the memories of their deaths. They begged for their lives, but it was for naught. He didn't forgive those whom he had planned revenge upon. He thoroughly enjoyed revenge and the begging that they all did in the end as if their begging would make a difference, his parents begging had not made a difference, so why should theirs?

He swept his black hair out of this face and disembarked and headed towards the castle. He planned to live the life of luxury after a hard 20 years living on his own and barely surviving. It was well earned and deserved. He was excited and anxious to start living his life and enjoying every second of it.

As a ship moved into port, a man with long light brown hair stood on the deck watching the process. He was wearing a black shirt, black leather pants, black leather boots with a strange tribalized bear stitched on the outside of his calves, and a black leather trench coat that moved in the breeze as the ship finished docking. He stood over six feet tall and was a mountain of muscle that few messed with. In fact, most gave him a wide berth based on his appearance alone. His hazel eyes turned to find the captain of the ship, followed by his feet.

"Just open the cargo doors and I'll take care of the rest, Captain," he said simply, his voice a rich baritone that still managed to hold a kind quality to it.

The captain smiled and offered a handshake, "It's been a pleasure, Griz. I wish all my cargo and passengers were as pleasant. Good luck to you," he said then turned to issue the orders to open the cargo doors of the massive ship.

Griz moved down the passenger ramp and approached the Harbor Master, "I just need to lead my cargo up to the castle. They'll need to rest for a little bit to get their land legs back. Is there a paddock in the village I can borrow for about an hour or two?" he explained, voicing his request politely and respectfully.

The Harbor Master looked him over briefly then gave a simple nod then gestured over to the wooded side of the village, "There's a paddock over by the Safe Path you can use. It's empty for now," he said with a curious tone.

Griz grinned at him, "Fair enough. I just need a clear path to it and the gate open. They're very well behaved, I assure you," he told him, earning a curious look followed by a call to one of the numerous boys running around to go open the gate to the paddock in question.

Once it was open, Griz turned to the ship and whistled a set of unique tones and was instantly rewarded when a small herd of twelve horses moved obediently from the ship to the paddock. The boy was a bit shocked but managed to get the gate closed. Even the Harbor Master was shocked by the behavior of the horses, "Uniquely polite beasts, you've got there sir," he said simply.

Griz grinned again and clapped him on the shoulder, "That they are, sir. A gift for the lady of the castle. Would you see that my things get sent up there? I'll be guiding the kids up there and they take some attention," he requested, earning an enthusiastic nod, "I'll get one of the wagons to take it up for you. Should be a nice trip as long as you stay to the Path," he agreed, giving the best travel advice.

Griz simply nodded then moved to check on the horses as they moved and stretched their legs.
